Ok lets talk sleeping
jpatches replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a side sleeper. After surgery I could not sleep on my side, but this was because it was not comfortable for me. I would try to sleep on my side, but after Inching myself on to my side I would get a feeling almost like I could feel my organs moving and putting pressure on my stomach. So, I slept on my back usually with my knees bent. It was the only way I could get comfortable and relieve some lower back pressure. I would get some sleep in whatever position feels comfortable to you. -
Can't stay out of bathroom..anyone else?
jpatches replied to motherbear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too spent a lot of time in the bathroom. I think for me it was the protein shakes that were doing it to me. I notice it even now when I do protein shakes for at least two meals. So, it could be your protein shakes maybe. -
How long are you taking off?
jpatches replied to va_viv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I took a week and a half off. I felt better after only about 4 or 5 days. The week and a half helped because after the surgery my body just felt tired for a while. I took a lot of naps while I was out. It was not uncommon for me to take one or two naps a day, and I am normally not a nap type person. I thinks rest really helps with the healing process. -
Hi, I had my first fill today. It was a piece of cake...really. The needle is HUGE, but it really doesn't hurt. My doc did it blind, and hit it on the first shot. He did put me back the full liquid diet for 48 hours, after that I can eat what I want. He said to be careful with meats, breads, and fiberous vegetables. Good luck on your fill. You will do great.

How many "walks" while in hospital?
jpatches replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only took very few things with me. I packed some very loose fitting pj shorts, tooth paste and toothbrush, and slippers. My surgery was at 7 am, so I pretty much arrived in pj's. After surgery, I did a lot of walking in the hospital. It took me a few days to get rid of the gas pains completely. Getting up to walk in the hospital definately made the pain from the gas better than laying in the bed and just dealing with it. I was a little embarrased to have my booty hanging out of the back of the gown while I was walking. I asked the nurse if I could put on my pj shorts and she said it was fine. I just left the hospital gown on as my shirt. The day that I was leaving I kept my PJ shorts on and I was able to wear a bra and put on a loose fitting t-shirt. My incisions were low enough that a bra would not even touch them. I also recommend flip flops for when you leave because it may be a little hard for you to bend over and put on shoes. -
How painful was your surgery on a scale of 1-10
jpatches replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the pain was about a 3-4. The surgery isn't bad. I think the worst thing for me has been the liquid diet. I'm not sure if this is normal but anything I drink gives me the worst gurgles in my stomach. -
Any July Bandsters??
jpatches replied to Espresso88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Cruces, but I'm having surgery in El Paso. I went thru Las Palmas and Dr. Acosta will be doing my surgery. He is the nicest guy...really. I actually don't have to do a preop diet, but I'm am doing a 1000 calorie diet on my own. I'm going to miss the breakfast burritos with green chile. I used to live in Alb, and the green chile there was the best. -

I'm getting banded July 21. It seems so far away, but I know it will be here in no time. -

Hi everyone, I finally got my golden ticket. My surgery date is July 21. I can't wait. I am so excited, but scared about it too. I have been heavy my whole life, I'm not to sure what I will look like at a healthy weight and that is kind of a scary thought too. Does anyone else feel this way? -
Hi, I am also an Army wife. I actually just got my call from Tricare on Thursday telling me that I was approved. I have Tricare Standard and they have been wonderful. I just did all my tests to get my surgical clearance and I am hoping to get my surgery date this week. I am assuming my surgery will end up being in July or August. Good Luck!
