running has always been something that I want to do but have never had a plan. I want to compete in a triathalon, that is my goal. Everyone is giving me good ideas on how I can get to my goal

Hello South Beachers, hope everyones day went well. Day 2 for me and it went great and I'm not hungry. And you'll never guess what I did today...durm roll please... I EXERCISED :clap2: 35 min on the treadmill and 15 min floor exercise. The reason I'm excited is because I have been telling myself for over a month ok when I get up tomorrow the first thing I'm going to do is exercise and I always talked myself out of it. My DS walked me through how to program a set song list on my IPod for when I exercise and you know what I couldn't believe that it went so fast. So in the morning when I get up I WILL be exercising. BGB one of my favorite SB meals is salad with fresh turkey breast cut into strips grilled with olive oil and garlic, cantaloup and honey dew sliced in tiny pieces, one strip of bacon crumbled, 1 t. sesame seeds, and dressing that my mom makes with light mayo, vinegar and sweetner. It is so good and I'm satisfied when I get finished.

Welcome Valentine, you sure won't beable to forget the date of your banding with it being one of the most popular day's of the year. You gave yourself the greatest Valentines gift of all...your health. Hang in there and I promise you will get to feeling better. Portein shakes are slim fast low carb, atkins advantage which you can buy in a regular store or you could go to a health food store and they would beable to show you what you need. I know my Dr. told me to get low carb because the sugar is lower in these. Hope this helps -
Silly thread.....but are your food bills less?
linadu replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my grocery bill is about the same maybe a little less, it does seem to cost more to eat healthy but I am buying less. I save a lot when it comes to eating out. I don't eat at fast food reasturants as much as I used to and I also don't eat at sit down resturants like I used to. If I do I only eat a third and take the rest home for two more meals. -
Has Anybody Made a List of Things You Want To Do After Weight Loss?

here goes windsurf salsa lessons fit comfortably in a plane seat date again and be in a relationship love myself not worry about what others think triathalon swim wear a cute swimsuit wear cute clothes little black dress beable to run with my son golf better live life instead of being on the sidelines -
I think it depends on what kind you get. I got one at a sporting good store for $22 and it seemed to keep pretty good track then I accidently washed it in the washer so I bought a cheaper one at Walmart and it doesn't seem the same. I do think that no matter with both it motivated me to walk more.

I bought three tops yesterday in the misses section and it felt sooooo good. I can't wait till summer and see what I can fit into then. Hope everyones weekend has been good and hello to a new week.

Well day one went pretty good and I actually feel pretty good. Now on to day two, I'm going to take it one day at a time. I'm logging my food intake on fitday so it will help me compute everything. Hey Baby what it your workout challenge? My son got me an IPod for Xmas and I love it. I've downloaded good songs to exercise to but have never started to exercise, go figure. Let me know and I'll do it also.

I only told my parents and I'm glad that's all that I told. I didn't want people to think ok here she goes again. I also didn't want the added pressure of feeling like I was being watched by everyone.

Welcome Crystal and Traci it's good to meet new people. Your right Crystal when you say that it's nice that we can be open with each other because this is a subject (weight) that is so much a part of who we are and how we live our lives. I hope that you both find this site helpful because it has been a godsend for me. Traci I'm glad that you have had success with the band, isn't it just awesome. -
Hello, I am going to try SB again, I only did it for one day before and stopped, not because it was hard but because I was to lazy to figure out a menu and go to the store. I like reading everyones post you all inspire me to give it another try. Wish me luck and I am going to post again tonight what I ate.

Hello everyone, I hope all is well. Debbie I'm glad you and your daughter are doing good. Welcome jabell76, you have come to a good place. What part of Ohio are you from? I don't know anything about medical mutual or kings daughter in kentucky. I can tell you that I went to my seminar on July 20th and I had my surgery on Oct. 18th. I'm really happy that I had the band I haven't had any problems with it, but I still struggle with old habits of eating the wrong things, not as big of quanities as before but still the wrong things. I think I'm self sabataging myself. I am close to being in onederland and then I go and blow it by munching all the time and I'm not even hungry. I don't mean to be having a self pity party but I can't get myself out of this funk. I seem to do this at least once a month, usually it last a couple of day's but this time it's lasted almost a week and I gotta snap outa it. I know what I should be eating and I had been doing so good. One good things is I have only gained one pound so far but my old fears are lurking in the back of my mind, here it goes again, lose the weight and then gain it back again. Sorry to everone for being a downer I just need to get this off my chest and then maybe I can get it out of the way and start fresh again. I promise the next time I get on here I'll be over my woa is me act.

Jimboss thanks for the laugh, never a dull moment with you around. So I have a question for everyone, how do you get yourself motivated to exercise, I know that I should just do it but my lovely little brain always seems to talk me out of it. I know that I would see better results and feel better if I would exercise but that isn't making me get up and move. Also what exercises do you do? Thanks for all of your support, it makes things easier to know that you have others going through what you are and know what's going on.

Hi Everone, I'm glad your doing good Debbie, and hopefully your daughter will get to feeling better also. Believe it or not I didn't have my first bad gas attack for about 2 wks. out:omg: , I was already back to work and had been moving around pretty good, I thought that my band had slipped or something and I called the Dr's office and the nurse told me she thought it was gas and to try gas-x and it worked pretty good for me. Well it sounds like O'Charleys it is:hungry: , I have eaten there once and it was pretty good. Come on everone and join us if you can, the more the merrier.

Hello Ohio, I don't know of many reasturants around Dr. Shus office but I know there has to be quite of few with it being around the mall. I'm having trouble getting myself motivated to exercise, I know that I just need to get up and do it but I don't. What are some ways that you get yourself to exercise and what kind of exercise do you like to do. My ultimate goal is to be able to windsurf, don't ask me why but it just looks fun to me, I have never tried it so I might hate it but I am going to do it hopefully this summer. At the rate I'm going I won't have enough energy to pull myself up so I know that I have to get my but into gear. At this time my eating is under controll so now if I could just get the exercise happening then I would be well on my way. I hope to hear from lots of you and get some different ideas. At this point I'm up to anything.:help:

Oh RosieG doesn't it feel like something is alsways trying to push us back.:angry But just hang in there and it's going to happen. It can be so frustrating working with insurance, the have no idea what is going on it seems like at times. How's everyone dealing with the snow? We got 15 inches here and work was cancelled yesterday but other than that it's not been to bad.

Hi everyone, it's been awhile since I posted but I'm back. I reached the Valentines day goal and I'm up for the Easter goal, I'm setting my goal at 15# maybe this way it will get me to exercise. Jimboss your right about the snow shoveling, it is easier but I still don't like it. We got 15 inches today and it is blowing like crazy so no sooner than I get it done it is covered up again. I'm going to look for the muscle milk everones talking about and try it. I hope everyone has a nice Valentines Day.

Good luck Debbie everything will be fine and I am thinking of you and your daughter. RosieG I'm so sorry about the mix up with insurance but just hang in there and it'll happen, I just know it will. Paige- I didn't really feel any restriction until my third fill and I ended up cancelling my appointment for this past Monday because I didn't feel that I needed another fill at this time. I go through spurts where the scales aren't moving and then all of a sudden I drop 4-5lbs. And I like you don't exercise, I know I should but I always find a way to talk myself out of it. I reached my Valentines day goal to lose 15lbs. so now my next goal is for Easter and I want to lose another 15lbs. I'm planning on going out to California to see my son and that would make me losing 30lbs since he last saw me. Well talk to everyone later

Hi lisa0522, I know the mandatory 6 mo. diet would be like torture to me so I'm feeling for you, just try and hang there. I had my banding done at Sycamore Hosp. and I don't regret it one bit. To date I have lost 41# since Oct. 18th and I haven't had any real problems. I am able to eat whatever I want but just in smaller portions, alot smaller portions. Don't get me wrong I have overeated and not felt the greatet afterwards and I have also burped things back up (yuck) but that was because I ate to fast or took to big of bites not because of the band not working for me it was me working against the band. I will say that overall I make better food choices, yes I sometimes still have my choclate, sometimes alittle to much but I can honestly say that I haven't counted a calorie or frobidden any food from my eating. I do try and stay on a lower carb plan just because bread can give me some problems at times because I swallow to big of a bite and it doesn't want to go down the greatest. Carolyn I hope everythings went good with your banding today and I'm thinking about you and wishing you a speedy recovery. Paige where are you I miss you here. Hope to see you Monday at Bob Evans along with everyone else who would like to meet for lunch.

1st day on South Beach and I feel pretty good. This is what I had today, 2 hamburger patties w/mustard, pickle and onion 1 8 oz. latte made with 1% milk 1 8 0z. latte made with sugar free soy milk 2 egg omelet made w/asparagus, onion and pesto cheese, yummy 15 almonds. The first latte I made with 1% milk and the carbs were 16 gr.:cry I knew that I couldn't drink my daily latte with the carbs being so high, I went to the South Beach web site and an article there said that sugar free soy milk is good to use in place of milk for things like latte's or other things that you would add milk to. It also said that it's not that good to drink alone but if you add sweetner to it then it's ok. I had never tried soy milk before and I have to say that I was happy with the taste of my drink, I couldn't tell a difference and it was only 3 carbs. It is a little pricey but I will only be using 8 oz. a day so it will last me a week. I didn't really plan my meals today so tonight I'm going to sit down and figure out a weeks worth of meals. I didn't eat enough vegis today so tomorrow that is going to be a priority for me. Didn't do any exercising today but I will tomorrow.

Hi BGB, I am going to start South Beach today, I have been banded since Oct18, 2006 and have lost 40# so far. I am happy with how things are going but feel that I could do better. I've done atkins before and did well but gained it back after a year. I didn't like that you couldn't have fruit so I think South Beach will be good for me. I'll check back in later today with my food diary.

How do you cope when you plateau or gain?
linadu replied to Yvonne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Everybody is giving good advice. I already switch around my calories, during the week, when I work I pretty much stick to the same thing give or take a hundred calories and then on the weekend I usally eat a few hundred calories more it seems to be working ok so far, and I also drink more water when I don't feel that I'm losing like I should. Now if I could just get myself motivated enough to exercise more often then I would do better but I'm not dissappointed in my weight loss so far, because I know that without the band the scales would be going the other way and I would be feeling like I was in a never ending battle to lose weight, now I know that I'm in a winning battle and for the first time in I couldn't tell you when I don't feel hopeless because I know that this is working. -
I get a runny nose but never put two and two together. It seems like I belch more now than I ever have and it comes out when I least expect it, how lady like of me :heh: I have PB'd a few times and it's not what I ever want to do again, but like Roiansmom said that food I eat today and have no problem with I might tomorrow. For me I really thinks its how fast I eat and to big of bites.:hungry:

All I can say is WOW Paige, 20#, that's great. I'm glad to here that things are going better after the gall bladder surgery. I bet you are still swollen like you said, I was for about a month after just having the band surgery and you had both so it will probably take a few more weeks for the swelling to go down. I was in a blah mood today, don't really know why just was, kinda ate to much this evening but I still was ok for the day. My goal for myself this week is to get 10,000 steps in a day, I almost get 9,000 in on the days that I work but on the weekend I'm lucky to get 2,500 so that will be my goal. I'll let you know next Sunday if I was able to achieve it or not. I can't wait to meet everyone that's going out to lunch on the 5th. The more the merrier. I feel this is the beginning of a great support group. And we all can use the advice that others can give us, especially since we are going through the same thing. Hey Paige I just noticed that you and I have the same amount to lose to get to our goal, we can be goal buddies, hehehe:clap2:
