Hi everyone, it's been awhile since I posted, I read often but just haven't posted. Things are going good for me, the weight loss has slowed but it is still ongoing. I have to say that I have no regrets about having the surgery. I feel like I am starting to live when all I was doing before was just watching the world live. I want to tell all the ones that haven't been banded yet to hang in there and you'll be glad you did. When I first had the band it was very consuming in all my thoughts but now it's just a way of life and I honestly don't think about it constantly like I did when I would diet pre-band. Talk to you later.

Body For Life (bfl) Challenge #1 Begins 4/23/07
linadu replied to tonya66's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I couldn't start the BFL this week but I am def. going to start it on Monday April 31. I let a friend look at my book because I was hoping she would start it with me and she had my book for a week and then didn't say anything about doing it. So needless to say I wasn't organized. So how is everyone doing that started? I hope all is well. -
Looking for a buddy to do the Body-for-life challenge
linadu replied to tonya66's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I want to do the BFL with you. Like you I have started it before but never finished it. I'm getting excited. The 12wks. would end on my birthday if we start the 23rd., wouldn't that be a good birthday gift to myself  -
Happy Easter to everyone. Haven't been on for awhile, hope everyone is doing good. I have lost 6# in the last month so I hope this means I'm back to losing again. Well hope to hear from you soon and wondering how everone else is doing.

Congrats Megan, I am so glad I had mine done. -
Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on in awhile, I moved over the past week so hopefully now that it's all done I can check in more often. I weighed myself this morning and I lost another pound for a total of 51#. I am noticing that I see more of a difference in how my clothes fit instead of the scale moving. It get's discouraging at times but hey this is the most that I have ever been able to lose and I haven't had any real complications so I'm not complaining. In following South Beach I like that I can choose to eat fruit and good carbs, I think for me that it's pretty easy to follow, I still want my chocolate, that's a mental craving instead of a hunger craving. Still haven't got myself to exercise, I keep telling myself that when the weather gets nicer. I know excuses - excuses.:heh:

Hey Denise, I use Fitday.com to calculate my calories, it's free and easy. Last night at work they posted a questionair about getting a fitness center on site, they were wanting to know how many people would actually use it. I hope it gets the go ahead, because I know I would use it.

Well I just got up ( I work third) and when I got on the scale, drum roll please, I lost a pound so that means that I finally am in onderland. I actually felt myself tear up. corny I know but I did. Good job on the 2# loss, you are doing really good BGB!!! I like the idea of checking in everyday with what we eat. drink and exercise. Maybe that will get me motivated to exercise. So here goes with what I have planned for today, 8 oz skim milk with expresso added 3 oz chicken 1 c. vegis 3 oz chicken egg canadian bacon cantaloupe 13 almonds

just started back Sunday, once I'm on, it's easy, but when I go off it's so hard to get myself motivated to start again. I have been fighting the same 3# for a month now and it's gotta stop. Since starting back I feel better, so now it's up to me to keep it going. I only have to lose 1# and I'll be in onderland. I haven't been there in over 16 yrs. I think we need to start some kind of challenge for all of us South Beachers. Maybe it will get us motivated. So how about some ideas.

Welcome to all of you newbies, It's been awhile since I'v been on and I come back and I see all of these post and it's a wonderful thing to see. I was banded Oct 18, 2006 and I haven't had one regret. I did really well up till a month ago and I have been eating more sweets, I'm not hungry but still want my sweets, I haven't gained and have actually lost 3# but I know that I could of done better. I can actually say that since my banding that I haven't been physically hungry just emotional hungry and that's what I always knew, that the band is not a cure all but a tool, there are still things that you will need to work through to be sucessful in losing weight, it's not going to happen just because of the band, don't get me wrong the band has been a BIG BIG HELP with my weight loss and I do see myself being able to lose all that I want to but I need to do my part also. -
you look wonderful, I'm glad your back

Mirssa, I am so sorry to here about your mom, please tell her that I am praying for her to have a speedy recovery and I can't wait till she gets to come home. I can see why she is depressed, this is so depressing to me to know that she is in so much pain.

Angie March 20th will be here before you know it and then band surgery will be right around the corner.

I am following the beach so so. I have a sweet tooth that gets in the way sometimes. Overall I stick to it most of the time and it's pretty easy.

linadu replied to NurseTeresa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Everyone, hope all is well. MISS Banstar - congrats on starting to run, this is one of my goals, what I would really like to do is compete in a triathalon. That is high on my list and also windsurfing. Never have done either one but I think they both look so neat. Started going to the gym with DS this week and I can feel it, and it feels sooooo good to beable to exercise and keep up and not have to rest as much. -
Hi everyone, BGB - I hope everythings ok tomorrow for you, remember to breath, it always seems to calm me down if I remember to take deep breaths, shut everthing out (try to at least) and relax my mind. I wen't to the gym with DS and he is so good with me, he wanted me to stay with him and do the same exercises he was doing but with smaller weights, I told him I didn't want to slow him down and he said that it was better working with a buddy and that he wanted to work out with me or he wouldn't of asked. So here's to day 2 workout and I felt like I did do more then what I would of done by myself. My eating has still been on track, man I hope this last. I keep waiting for the hunger to come back.

Hi everyone, Soniican - do you have your training schedule posted anywhere, I'm curious what it consist of. I hope your first day went well for you. Congrats KStar you just keep on a melting away :clap2: doesn't it feel good! Well I went to the gym today with DS and we were working out in front of the mirror and I actually looked at myself, I hadn't looked in a long time, and I was pleasently surprised, I didn't see a big blob. I actually saw someone that was overweight but not obese. My stomach wasn't making me look like I was 9 mo. prego either. So I figure that the difference so far has just come from eating less so if I continue to exercise then I should see better results. I'm so happy:D

Would you do it again?
linadu replied to TerriDoodle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
100% YES!!! I wouldn't even think twice about it. I have had such a positive experience with the band, don't get me wrong I've had to change the way that I deal with food but it's not anything that I haven't been able to live with. -
Well I went to DS graduation and we were traveling for 4 day's, I didn't stick to the SB 100% but I didn't stray far and I'm happy to say that I didn't gain any weight. I didn't lose but hey I didn't gain. I got right back on SB when I came home and all is well. BGB after my first fill I didn't tell a difference until about a wk after, not a whole lot but there was a difference. I've had three fills and after my last feel I have felt the most restriction. I can still eat whatever I want, just have problems with bread, but I can still eat it. I think it's funny that you can have a fill but not feel it until a wk after. You would think that you could tell a difference right away. My DS is home for a couple of wks and he wanted me to go to the gym with him so I went this morning and it was fun working out with him again. He was like the parent last night asking me if I had my gym clothes packed and if I also had my IPod ready. He showed me alot of ab exercises and kept me motivated. I'm looking forward to tomorrows trip to the gym. I've decided for March my exercise goal is going to be 20 hrs of exercising. Do you think that sounds like a reasonable goal or should it be more or less? I know that with following the SB diet and exercising I will beable to notice a difference quicker. And I also want this to become a way of life not just something I'm doing to lose weight.

Hi everyone, hope your Monday was good, sometimes Monday's can really suck getting back into the swing of things. Christine, in what dept. did you find the MM? I'm going to colombus this Sat. and I'm going to pick some up. Jessica, good job on getting back down to 189, I didn't lose any this week but I can feel it in my bones for this week to see results. So I am officially starting the Easter Challange. I have to get my but into gear because I'm going to California to see my son for Easter and I want to buy a couple of knew outfilts and also surprise him. I went to the gym this morning with my DS whose home on leave from the military. I tried to talk him into waiting until tomorrow with it being the first day of the week and he told me that I was just making excuses and I needed to just do it. I'm so glad that we went, I had a good workout and he showed me different ab workouts that I can do and when we were done I was able to come home and go to sleep with no problem. I work third and I always thought if I exercised after I got off work that I would'nt beable to sleep but I didn't have any problems today. And I also slept good and felt good when I got up. He wants to go every morning while he's home (2wks) so hopefully this will help me get a jumpstart on exercising.

Congratulatins Lisa, friday will be here before you know it. Butterflylover, gas-x worked for me, I didn't have problems with gas until about 2 wks. out. Well I went to my son's airborne graduation last Friday and we were taking pictures, I hadn't done this for a couple of months, I compared them with the ones taken at his bootcamp graduation (Oct. 4th) and I couldn't believe the difference.:biggrin1: I actually look younger and not all puffed up in my face. It's funny that you can watch the scales go down but not notice a difference in the mirror but when you see pictures you think, hey I really can tell a difference. I hope everyone had a good Monday and here's to a better week to come. Oh I almost forgot, I went to the gym this morning with my son and we had a good workout.:clap2: He's showing me all these ab workouts (which I REALLY need) He want's to go everyday while he's home (2wks) so hopefully this will get me jumpstarted on exercising.

hi everyone hope your weekend is going good. JDru I just read the article on perfectionist and I related to Tom the most, it's kinda scarry but it also opened my eyes, thanks. My eating this week has been so so. I haven't done terrible but I also haven't done the greatest. Grazing has been my biggest problem, just like it seems to always be when I backslide. I haven't gained but I haven't lost either. So heres to a better day today. When are we starting the Easter challenge?
