SO MANY DIFFERENT STORIES
Jennifer Hathaway replied to ZOOROPA's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was afraid about hunger and not being able to eat certain things too. But my hunger is very well controlled both by the band and the amount of protein I feed my body. As far as eating things like before I was a french fry and pizza junkie, I simply can't remember the last time I ate or even wanted a fry. And as far as pizza I eat thin crust now and as much protein and veggies on it I can. I also only eat a couple small pieces not 1/2 or all of a pizza. Food getting stuck hurts, avoid it at all costs. U can breathe but it feels like something is poking u in your heart and sometimes can last a long time. Just chew good and don't eat fast. -
U are too tight. U need to be filling your pouch with solids. This will just lead to big problems, u can't use your band for that kind of restriction. Have about 1/2 of the amount of fill u just had removed. I was too tight and always getting stuck and I had .1 cc (yes that little bit) removed and I am PERFECT.

calorie intake post surgery
Jennifer Hathaway replied to oldiebutgoodie2's topic in Fitness & Exercise
That is probably going to be ok until u start more solids. I was only getting in that much at that point too. I am now 13 months out and down 115 pounds, and 12 pounds below my doctors goal for me. It didn't mess up my metabolism. I have now been maintaining since april at between 1000 and 1200 cals a day. Good luck. -
Interesting Article About the Band and Failure Rates
Jennifer Hathaway replied to KristeyK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is interesting, but I am 13 months out from surgery and 15 pounds BELOW my doctors goal weight so I have lost more than what that article claims. And I know of a lot of others on this board with the same fantastic results. I love my band and I went into it knowing it might have to be removed but I just had my yearly upper gi and everything is perfect and I have had absolutely no complications. I will not let myself dwell on these statistics anymore. If anything happens then it does and I will deal with it then. I will decide to either replace my band or revise. -
Does anyone's port area hurt during thier period?
Jennifer Hathaway replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port does tend to hurt more during my cycle and after eating a lot. I am 13 months out from surgery and below goal. It is sticking out a lot too now but especially during the above times. It can also hurt more from over excercise or bumping it. Good luck on your journey. I love my band. -
Walmart has them.

Saggy Skin
Jennifer Hathaway replied to NavyChiefsWife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have to admit I hated my body morbidly obese and now I still hate my body in a size 4 because of the saggy skin. Trying to find shorts and swimming suits that don't show my sagginess in my thighs sucks! I don't have money to get ps, so I am trying to work out now. I will try pilates or something. -
My relationship is better. We just had our 4 yr anniversary being together and we are getting engaged in the next month. (He told me because of the ring) but he wants the proposal to be a surprise. Anyway I am a much happier and healthier person now and it is really showing in our relationship. We have a 2 yo daughter and I can keep up with her and my 12 yo son so much better, so we are out of the house more. I am sure you will be okay.

sudden band tightening
Jennifer Hathaway replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had .10 cc removed today and I feel so much better. My doctor said it could be allergies and to make sure to take allergy meds every day. -

sudden band tightening
Jennifer Hathaway replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am dealing with that right now too. Debating on a small unfill. -
I am at goal and I have been buying designer Miss Me jeans with rhinestones on the butt pockets. They are about $100 a pair, I have never spent that much on jeans because I was always changing sizes. This time I will maintain. Good luck everyone and enjoy after all your hard work.

Protein Shake Winner
Jennifer Hathaway replied to NJGirl32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier Protein vanilla or chocolate are good premixed shakes. 11 oz 160 cals and 30 grams protein and I believe only 1 gram sugar. I also like GNC powder. -
SO HAPPY! OMG OMG OMG!
Jennifer Hathaway replied to Bandarina Mimi's Journey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have to disagree. Do a presurgery diet and get your head in the game before surgery. I did not have a problem losing at all. I will be banded a year on the 25th this month and went from 262 lbs to 147 lbs in 11 months. Shrinking your liver also helps with placement of your band. Good luck. -
I was banded last may 25, so closing in on my 1 year bandaversary. I am below my goal weight and my band is tight. I can't eat rice, a lot of pastas, soe breads. I get stuck on scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, I get stuck on meats that are too dry and stringy, and I will not try cookies and milk together again. I am okay with not being able to eat the carbohydrates and starches. It will just depend on how you chew, how fast you eat and how tight your band is. Good luck.

Help! Port shows thru??
Jennifer Hathaway replied to LisainAZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is above and to the left of my bellybutton and it sticks out a lot. I am below goal and my doctor suggested changing to a low profile but I don't want or need another surgery. It does sometimes bother me but its not like I looked deformed or anything. And after 2 babies my left rib cage sticks out more too, cause one of their heads was jammed under there for most of the 9 months. It will be fine. -
Thank you and congrats to you too!

I take my multivitamins and I get about 75 to 100 grams of protein a day. I lost 113 pounds in 10 months and now at goal so my doctor thinks it is because of the fast loss.
-
I had the last supper syndrome and then I had to do my 10 day liquid preop and my liver and body started to shrink. Be very careful. But do reember you still should be able to eat your favorites in moderation after banding.

I am sorry you are going through this too. I will be banded a year this month on the 25th and my hair is still falling out. But I do see new growth finally. I take biotin too and tried special shapoos with no help. Unfortunately it is something that may continue. I am sorry.

Wife is against me getting the band- very bummed
Jennifer Hathaway replied to Peter's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is your health on the line not your wifes. I guess I would just do the surgery. It can do amazing things for people. -
Surgery Question....

Question about port and contact sports
Jennifer Hathaway replied to cakegirl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I am at goal and mine sticks out. And it is very noticeable when I touch my stomach. My 2yo daughter likes to kick me and sit on me and it is painful. Also, I sometimes bump it on the counter when doing dishes. I myself would be too afraid of breaking it with contact sports. But my doctor said I can get a low profile port if I have problems. I am not going to have another surgery when my lapband works perfect right now. Dont fix what ain't broke. You will have to talk to your doctor and see how you end up feeling. -

positive ovulation tests 3 days in a row
Jennifer Hathaway replied to karebare714's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
When I got pregnant (3xs but only had 2 live births) I had the similar. I thought I had a light period but found out from the dr. that it was probably the egg implanting. I also showed that I was always ovulating. I took a ton of pregnancy tests that showed negative and then finally positives. The time I had a miscarriage was the only time I got a positive pregnancy test right away and then they were negative. It took almost 3 months to get a positive with my son and 2 months for my daughter.
