x96oun...I too had ice cream yesterday! a small portion, but it was awesome! I have not cheated ONE time for three weeks. I lost 13 pounds and then went up 2 pounds! I thought maybe I could "shock my system" to get the scale moving. Weighed myself today and I lost a pound of weight that I had gained. If you can set limits on how much you're eating, then I don't think there is anything wrong with OCCASIONALLY treating yourself. I think it's a good idea to keep protein supplements readily available to help avoid temptation.

Hi guys! I started back to work yesterday. I've noticed that since then, I am alot hungrier than I was while I wasn't working. Has this happened to anyone else? I figure it's just because I'm more active (I work as a floor nurse). Another thing I've noticed is that the scale hasn't budged in almost two weeks. I know this is the "bandster hell" I hear about, but it is really getting frustrating. I have not cheated once, but that doesn't seem to matter cuz the scale hasn't moved. I am happy I have lost 13 pounds, but I"m scared how long it's going to take to lose more. I'm starting to get depressed about it.

getting hungry
jllybean1982 replied to jllybean1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Illuminationlady! I keep my calories between 500-900 a day. It's just so frustrating! I'm going to try to cut back on my carbs..maybe that will help. Thank you for your time! Best wishes to you too! -
2 weeks post op and getting frustrated
jllybean1982 replied to butterfly0510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry Butterfly! You're not alone! I got banded May 13, lost 13 pounds in the first week, then NOTHING for almost two weeks. It is horribly frustrating. I guess this is where we have to wait for our bodies to heal, so that we can begin to lose weight. I don't know about you, but not seeing the scale move makes it really hard to not cheat..I haven't cheated yet, but it just feels like I'm doing really good and nothing is happening! Hopefully the scale will start to move soon! Good luck Butterfly!!! -
Constipated!!! Help!!!
jllybean1982 replied to jen36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long has it been since you went Jen? If it's been more than a couple days, I'd call your doctor or go to the ER, especially if you're nauseated. You may be blocked higher, so the enema may not work. I'd try Miralax or MOM, then the enema if you don't go. There is another drug called Mag Citrate, but I would not try it unless you talk to the doctor first! If you're feeling really sick though, I'd call your doctor or head to the ER! -
10 days Post op and down 22 POUNDS and feeling GREAT!
jllybean1982 replied to ChocolateDream81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats ChocolateDream81!!! I was banded on May 13 and am down 13 pounds so far. You are really lucky to have already lost 22 pounds!!! I hope it keeps up! -
They did a study on this which proved that birth control pills do very little to make you gain weight. The only birth control method that makes you gain weight is the Depo Provera shot. At least that's what the study said.

I'm so excited..I went to my surgeon's office for my post op visit and I'm down 13 pounds! Kind of nervous cuz my weight loss stalled a little bit, but excited that I lost weight! Going July 8 for my first fill....still really nervous about that, but you guys have made me feel alot better! Thanks for listening! Take care!

It's nice to meet you Stacy! My name is Leeanne. I live in Pennsylvania. I don't have any kids, but I have seven rabbits, two chinchillas, a guinea pig, a mouse, and a gerbil..they're kind of like my kids! I'm currently a Licensed Practical Nurse. I'm furthering my education and am heading into my fourth semester to get my RN, so I guess I'm in school...still...too! LOL I was banded on May 13, 2010 and weighed in at 249. So far, I've lost twelve pounds and have had no real complications with the band either. I wasn't really overweight either until I hit my early twenties. I was an avid roller skater up until 20, and then I stopped skating. I'm thinking that kept me in shape. I also worked midnight for two years which screwed up my metabolism. I got so tired of losing 50 pounds just to gain it back, so surgery was the only option I saw. I too love the support here. Anytime there's something that I'm worried about, I find the answers here. Good luck on your journey! It is very nice to meet you!

I keep reading about how horrible pbing and vomiting is with the Lap Band. I'm kind of scared and starting to panic! Does it hurt bad? Do you have any warning when you start? How long does it last? Sorry to ask so many questions. I'm not allowed to for a couple more weeks, but I'm scared to eat normal food! Can you handle it on your own, or does it end up as a trip to the ER?

Just another question...pain
jllybean1982 replied to smilinginside's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For about nine days or so after I was banded, I had this horrible chest pain from the gas in my stomach. I found that walking around helped! Good luck! -

Thanks guys! I feel a little better! -
I know this is probably a really dumb question, but me and my sister are going to Kennywood (amusement park) in July. Do you think I'll be able to ride rides safely having been banded May 13? I'm very paranoid about something getting displaced in there! lol I'd appreciate you guys telling me your experiences with this!

Thanks for the idea Sunshine! I am so tired of yogurt! lol It'll be nice to try something else for a treat! -
Crecia that is totally normal. I started the process in October. I got weighed in once a month for six months for the insurance company. I did bad most of the month, until like a week before I got weighed in. It is totally normal to feel the way you're feeling. It's like the last few months you can eat without really worrying. I have learned from reading posts on this site, that you can have things you really want, just in small portions and as long as you REALLY chew it! Just be careful though if you need to get weighed in monthly. My doctor said that if I gained weight in any of those months, my insurance would turn me down for the surgery. I just made sure I was the same weight or a pound or two smaller when I went to the doctor's.

Hey guys! I needed to grab a protein shake at the grocery store because I left mine at home. I tried the Pure Protein shake brand..Vanilla Creme to be exact and it was really good! I have been looking for a good protein supplement and was excited that this one tasted good (to me anyways ). It has 100 calories, 21grams protein, and 0.5 grams of fat. :tongue2:

Please help scared!!!

I was banded May 13, 2010. I have gotten nauseous once, but so far I haven't thrown up. Just sip fluids slowly. I have gotten some good advice off of this forum for when I can eat solid food. Chew Chew Chew is what I'm being told! Take small bites too! Good luck! -
Thank you! I was really sad cuz the Vanilla Creme was my favorite and Giant Eagle (grocery store) is discontinuing that flavor. I'm gonna check out the Cookies n' Cream!

Average age of a Bandster?
jllybean1982 replied to Kellster's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Kelly I got banded May 13 2010 and I am 28. So far, I'm VERY glad I made this decision! I couldn't go on doing what I was doing to my body and keep gaining weight! Good luck with your surgery Kelly!
