Exercise Goals #2
jllybean1982 replied to monkeymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are doing awesome! I'm so excited. My sister and I walked 6 miles today on the trail which brings my total minutes of walking up to 278 for the week! :grouphug: Thanks for the tip Froggie (walking, jogging for a minute, walking, etc). I did that today and it felt great! Jogging does feel better than walking at times. You guys are awesome! Have a great week! -
Exercise Goals #2
jllybean1982 replied to monkeymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walked for 60 minutes this evening which felt nice! I want to start jogging/running, but not sure how to get started. I know what you mean Sandra..I need to add weights to my exercise regimen too. -
Thanks Btrieger! You have done so well on your weight loss journey! :cursing: Yeah..he told me to just watch the kind of food I was eating and to make good choices. I really have been trying to use common sense when choosing what I eat. It's nice that with the Lap Band it doesn't feel so much like a diet! :scared2:

Exercise Goals #2
jllybean1982 replied to monkeymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good job with all the exercising guys!!! I'm having a rough week. I was doing approx 200+ minutes of walking a week. My sister and niece are here from Delaware visiting. So far I have only walked 105 minutes and I only have two days left. My goal is to try to go for a short walk tonight and tomorrow and get as close to 200 as I can! Good luck everyone!!! -
Hey guys! Btrieger the PA told me I have a Lap Band APS system. He put 4.8cc in it. He said something about taking 2.8cc of air out and replacing it with Saline plus 2 extra cc's? What does that mean? I'm feeling restriction which is nice. I'm not hungry all the time! The doctor told me he wanted me to stop counting calories and just eat three small meals a day...not sure if I can stop counting. I am trying to stick to three small meals a day though! I know what you mean Jack..about losing weight quickly after the fill. I have lost 5 pounds since my fill. :cursing: I'm down 25 pounds so far. I have heard that it takes more than one fill to feel restriction. We'll get there guys, just hang in there! :scared2: Good luck everyone!!! :frown:
-
Hey Lacey! I'm doing good thanks, how bout you? My first fill was a breeze! So far I'm down 25 pounds! How are you doing?

Hi EndlsDremer! How ru? I had my surgery done by Dr. Courcoulas. It is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I have heard of Dr. McClosky. My stay at Magee was okay. I stayed one night after surgery and was discharged the next day. I was so scared to have the surgery, but it was nothing! The first two days were painful, but after that, I felt good. When is your surgery? Keep me posted on how you're doing if you don't mind! Good luck with everything!

Hey guys! I was just wondering...sometimes I have to split up my walk..20-30 minutes twice a day instead of 40-60 minutes at one time. I know they say as long as you get so many minutes a day, you're good, but what do you guys think? I work 7a-3:30p and try to walk before work and either on my lunch break or after work. I do notice that if I walk twice a day instead of once, I tend to walk more total minutes a day. Thanks for your time guys! Hope everyone is doing well! Leeanne :bored:

Splitting up exercise throughout the day
jllybean1982 replied to jllybean1982's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hi Jen! Thanks for the message! That's what I do actually. I walk the whole 45-50 minutes when I'm off and split it up when I work. I do feel like I get a better workout when I get it all in, but I just feel good exercising at all! -
1 month post op weight gain
jllybean1982 replied to BanderGirlBlue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded May 13, 2010. The first couple of weeks, I wasnt even hungry. Since then though, I notice my hunger is coming back. I have had to keep close track of my calories to make sure I don't over eat. Before you start getting fills and feel restriction, you really have to keep track of what you're eating. I have my first fill on July 8 and am scared, yet excited. I'm hearing once you get to that "sweet spot", it gets easier. Just hang in there! I have noticed that exercising has really helped boost my metabolism. I do alot of walking! -
Everything has changed.

Leigha I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles! LOL You are doing a wonderful job and are a big inspiration to me! I feel my clothes getting to big for me and it keeps me motivated! I can't wait until my butt fits into a size 6/8! -
Just went for a walk. I'm up to 203/200 minutes for my walk goal this week! Froggie, that massage sounds nice! lol

You guys are doing really good! I have two more days left in my week..I've walked 152 minutes so far. My goal is 200/week. I hope it's okay I'm posting this with you guys! It really helps to be held accountable!

Don't worry Danielle, I drank the chalky stuff too and it was horrible! They did give me this stuff that tasted like Alka Selzer first though. It is used to expand your stomach, so they can see better when you swallow the chalky stuff. AND it was NASTY!!!!!!!!! Keia, it doesn't take very long, so don't worry!

Splitting up exercise throughout the day
jllybean1982 replied to jllybean1982's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I like doing it all at one time too Brad. It gets hard to fit it all in though! I start school in August, so I'm really going to have to squeeze it in! Wish me luck with that! -
its a test where you have to swallow stuff so they can make sure everything goes down properly. they give you this stuff that tastes like alka selzer to fill your belly up with air. then they make you drink contrast and swallow it. While you are swallowing, they are taking pics/xrays of your esophagus/belly to make sure everything is okay.

Hi guys! Sorry if it's really lame for me to post this, but I have lost 20 pounds since my surgery on May 13,2010!!! I am so excited! I have had my moments where I was discouraged, but you guys got me through it..thank you very much for that!!! I have worked really hard and it really feels like it's paying off! I know I still have ways to go, but I feel really good right now! Thanks for listening! Leeanne

I'm Scared - Need support
jllybean1982 replied to newstacy09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You said it when you said you were in Bandster Hell. I was there too at one time. Didn't lose weight for almost three weeks! The weight will come off. The band is a tool and I have been learning..it is effective! I like Froggie's idea...split your exercise up into small increments. I still trick myself. I'll tell myself I'm going to walk for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, I figure..why not do another 10 minutes..it really works! I know it's hard to find time. I work as a nurse full time and go to school part time. Exercise is what got my weight loss going again. Hang in there...you'll get the weight off! Good luck Stacy! -
nice job Monkeymama!!!!! I walked 58 minutes today and did 3.1 miles! Good luck getting through your plateau..they really suck!

Thanks guys!!!

Good job guys!!!! Today is the first day of a new week. Taking today off, but waking up at 5am to walk before work. I can't believe how much exercise has helped my weight loss. Monkeymama...you are by no means a slacker! I'm a nurse and I have worked alot of 12 and 16 hours shifts and they are by no means easy!!! Good job on getting yourself motivated to start exercising for the week! You are doing a good job! Good luck everyone with your week!
