  1. Hi My company is changing Insurance Sept. 1st and I currently have Aetna and I am in the process of getting tested and doing all the requirments for Aetna. I am going to my 2nd visit and Aetna requries 4 visits. Now my new insurance is Principal Life Insurance and I have never heard of them. Has anyone heard of them? What are there requirments? Thanks if anyone can ease my mind.

    Insurance dilemma

Hi Jess55, I just found out today that the same thing is happing to me. I am with Aetna and my company is changing to Principal life Insurance. I am in my 3rd month of requirements for Aetna and now I will not have Aetna as of Aug. 31st. I called my HR and they dont know what the new insurance will have but they plan on finding out for me tomorrow. I sure hope the new insurance has same requirement or atleast will cover some of the Lap Band. Other wise I think I will not be able to have it done. I am so sad and upset about these changes. I guess I should of started sooner. I had no way of knowing they were going to change insurance.

    August 2010 anyone?

Hi Lap2Fab, I am very similar to you with my BMI at 36 but I also have co-morbidities with high blood pressure and Cardiomyopathy and Tendionitis in both feet due to being over weight. I need to loose 65-70lbs I am 5ft and almost 60yrs old. I hope my insurance will approve me. Good luck with your insurance aswell.
  5. Hi Karsnuggett, Happy about your lose of 40lbs that is great. I am in the process of getting approved for insurance. I was glad I read your post. I have had mixed feeling on getting the band. I know once i get my surgery date it will set in that i am going to go thru with it. I have 70lbs to lose. I have lost before and gained it back just like all the people in the world. I am just hoping this works for me and I can keep it off. I am going to True Rrsults in Scottsdale Az. my 2nd appointment is next week and that is when I have to commit to going thru with it. Then guess I will have 2 more appointments before all paperwork is submitted to insurance Aetna. I also have heart condition Cardiomyopithy and high blood pressure. I also have xstream Tendionitis in both feet and in process of getting them under control so I can walk. Loseing 70lbs would make a great big differentce in my life. I hate being over weight.

    3rd Year Band-Annivesary Today 7/17

I am not banded yet. still waiting for insur. approval. I have days when I think should I do this or not. It is a constant question in my head. When I see your post all the fear goes away. I say to my self I really want to do this now. You are a total inspration to us all. Thanks for posting and keep up the healthy eating.
  9. I am glad you made an appointment. I woke up at 2 in the morning and My husband had to take me to the emergency room because the pain was so bad. They had to do a urltasound on me to see the stones. I had it out in 4 days after they found the stones because one was in the duct or about to go in the duct. That can be very dangerous. Good luck and let us know what happens with you.

    Eat before fill?

I know it looks like every Doctor has his own way of doing things. It sounds like it would make more since to not eat and do liquids before and after fill. I am not banded yet. I read a lot on this forum. It is a great sorce of info and lots of different info. Thanks to all of you. I love this forum. I will get my band soon Oct or Nov.
  11. The pain sounds like when I had gallblader stones. You should not let it go too long with out getting it checked out. Look up the symtons of Gallstones. Good luck.
  12. I have not had to really jump thru hoops yet. I see the nurtrionist next appointment. I had to write a timed letter on diets that I have tried. Which True Results gave me a guide letter to follow. Was pretty easy. I had a psych eval which was not bad I may even go back to her she was pretty good. My insurance will cover it also. She mad me see things differently. she did ask if I was going to tell anyone that I was haveing this surgery. I said not.... I was keeping it to myself. I feel this is very personal and my choice and dont want any ones opinion on it. So there I choose to not tell anyone. I know my BMI is 36 and I can not loose anymore weight or I will not qualify. if it is lower than 35 the ins. will not pay. :grouphug:
  13. Hi KatjaE, My Name is Brenda and I live in Tempe, Arizona. I am in the process of being approved for Lap Band Surgery. I am going thru my insurance Aetna. I have 3 more appointments before I can qualify. I started in June but was on the fense and canceled my appointment but then had second thoughts. Rescheduled my appointment so I am going thru it. I am 59yrs old and have been on 50k diets. I did lose weight on Nutrisystem but I hated the food. It was all procesed and would give me gas so bad. LOL. :grouphug: I can lose the weight but cant seem to keep it off so I think this will be the tool. I need to lose 60-70lbs and keep it off. that is my dream. I also have a heart condition Cardiomyopathy, and Mortons nuromas on both feet. I take Blood presser meds. I will let you know when I get approved. wish me luck.
  14. Hi PMCW, I sure hope you get lucky and they pay for some of your surgery. Most insurances for them to pay they have to pre-approve But maybe you will luck out. I have been on the fence about this surgery for a while. Should I or Shouldn't I not get it done. I can loose the weight but just afraid again I will not keep it off and like you its is very upsetting to regain it again and again and them more each time. After I loose it something in my head I just says well now you can eat anything you want and you know before long the weight is all back on. I dont know what it is. I am hoping that the lap-band will make me realize I have to keep it off. I am 60ys old, female 5' and 188 w/BMI 36. I have heart condition (Cardiomyopathy)Which happened 8yrs ago when I got pneumonia and it caused my heart muscle to harden so it doesnt pump very good. I have high blood presser and morton's neuromans on both feet which are just killing me. It is hard to exercise like I use too. I still do my walking but it hurts with every step. I go see the doc for Psychology Clearnce next week. If I loose 5lb I will not qualify for the insurance or that is what they told me. I am only doing this because I can not keep the weight off. They told me that would not be a problem with the lap band. This would be my dream come true. The least I have weighted in 40 yrs is 150lbs. and at my height that is just too much. I should weight 115lbs. I know I would feel so much better and my cardioligest would love it also if I would take the weight off and keep it off. I was told they go by your weight from your 1st visit but not sure so will ask. I really hope I dont regret going throught this. I am not looking forward to the Clear Liquids when it comes time. Good luck and post your progress. Oh if all goes well I will have my band in October 2010 some time.
  15. Hi PMCW, I love your pre-op diet. I lost a lot of weigth on that same diet once.Low carb. Sounds like you are doing great. how much do you need to loose? I still am waiting for insurance to approve me. I will not have surgery until October. Have to do the 4mo. requirements for Aetna. Its not so bad as long as they approve me. I need to loose 60-70 lbs. I am so hoping I have made the right decision. I started thinking about it 4mo. ago and should of started the process then but oh well. will follow your progress. lv2bgoing:cool2:
