I have been battling my weight since I was a teenager I am now 35yrs old. I've been going  through such a roller coaster ride trying to proceed with this lap band surgery. In 2008 I was in the process of getting the lap band from my previous doctor, completed all necessary requirements needed, I believe I was just one seminar away from getting scheduled, but I got laid of from my job so therefore lost my medical insurance. i was waiting on Cobra to send out forms so that I can continue w/ my insurance by paying out the pocket. Well those forms came to late their was some sort of mix up. Anyway now to 2010 yr- I now have Blue Cross MediCal (Hills Physicians Med Group) Insurance and I was told that they cover the procedure so I talked to the doctor that I have now about bariatric surgery and she said it is a 2yr process I then told her that I already completed most of the stuff w/ my prior doctor. She then told me to just fill out a release form to get my med records from my previous doctor, so I did that. She had received my med records and the receptionist called me and said that my records came in and everything looks good but my doctor does not want to give me a referral because she has never done this before and for me to call the insurance company and get a list of physicians. I did all that all called back and started asking more questions bout the situation and the receptionist said the doctor also doesn't want give me a referral  b/c I was I'm was so far in the process. I told her that in the beginning, I believe she thought I didn't have everything I basically was completed and ready 4 surgery, all she has to do is use the records and give me a referral. I am soo..... sad right now. She gave me false hope one minute she was fine with it and now she just changed her mind. She told me to that I should change physicians if I want to proceed w/ bariatric surgery being that she has never did a referral for that. I have just contacted the surgeon that was going to do my surgery and the front desk staff was so kind enough to give me some information and some referring doctors, so I am going to change my insurance & pcp to the one they accept which is still Medi Cal but the health plan will be HealthNet/River City. Im hoping things start looking up for me real soon.Desperate for help,
