I was normal weight while growing up. Very active lifestyle while a youth -- swimming, softball, bicycling, etc. When I hit my 30's I started gaining weight but never stepped on a scale, so didn't realize how much I had gained. When I was in my early 40's I developed high blood pressure and finally stepped on a scale and was shocked at how much I weighed. Tried to lose on my own with varying success. Would lose 30-50 lbs, but always gained it back. Thought about lap band for 2-3 years before finally doing it. Read a great deal about it, talked to people who had done it, changed surgeon's less than 30 days before my first surgery date because I was not happy with some aspects of care. Now that I am post-op, I am somewhat disappointed in the results. Not losing very much at all. Yes, I'm exercising, yes, I'm watching my food intake. I have 9cc's in my band and it is extremely restrictive re what and how much I can eat and I'm still not losing. No, not drinking soda or milkshakes. Haven't had a soda since August of 2009. I have been experiencing a great deal of pain resulting from air trapped in the upper pouch of my stomach. Sometimes I need to throw up after only 3 spoonfuls of yogurt because of the intense pain from the air. Once I throw up, I burb (wonderful topic I know) then I'm fine. Not sorry I did the surgery, as I'm not gaining more weight, but simply wondering why it seems to be working so well for others and not me. My surgeon is wonderful, but simply tells me to watch what I'm eating. Well, at 750 cal's a day I should be losing.
