Thanks liftingchic! I still have 30-40 lbs to lose, and I will calculate my approximate calories burned vs calories in for a small deficit. Great job on your running and weight loss! Thanks again!

Can any of the runners tell me what your eating plan is? BillOh, perhaps you can help me: I am training for a 10K and notice my hunger has increased. I am sure the eating plan should be different for lap-banded runners vs. runner without a band, but not sure. I was banded in May 2010 and completed the C25K in Sept and am now in week 4 of 10K training. I am currently running about 20 miles/week. Any information or links is appreciated!

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Kick in the butt please :)

Sandi! Thank you for the reply. You are truly amazing, and I cannot wait to join bandedliving and get "started". What I have read and seen so far, you and Gloria have phenomenal stories and experience to share with others! I read some of your blog and I too am at the point where I eat either too much or too fast and my band 'rears its ugly head'. I have contacted a bariatric hospital/surgeon in the city where we are currently (my husband and I travel with our jobs) and am scheduling my 3rd fill with them (it was due the middle of August). I feel that will help me a lot along the way at this point! I have already saved bandedliving to my favorites and I will be visiting it each day and following you! Thank you again! Denise -
Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Kick in the butt please :)

Hi! My name is Denise and I am 44 years old. My husband of 13 years has been very supportive of my experience. I was banded on 5/24/10 by Dr. John Marsden in Hurst, TX. It was a good experience. I have had 2 fills, and it seems like I am waiting for some kind of "magic" to begin. I am not at my sweet spot just yet. I remember the satiated feeling postop, and I am not there yet. Preop diet weight loss was 18 pounds. Weight loss since surgery is 19 pounds. I do not have extreme hunger, but I feel like I eat too much at mealtimes. I have progressively began eating more, faster and swallowing larger amounts of foods. It also can take me only 15-20 mins per mealtime. I know the rules. I think I just need #1) another fill, but we travel full time and maintaining a fill spot is going to be challenging; #2) someone to encourage me to maintain proper eating techniques. I just feel like I am going through this alone. Even though my hubby supports me, he doesn't have a LAP-BAND®® and unless you do have one, you never truly understand. I know I didn't until I had mine! Any help is appreciated very much!!!!! -
Hi Sandra, Things are going okay for me. I was very afraid of beginning any exercise too early and have now been on my 5K training program for 3 weeks without any problems. I too have had 2 fills. Not quite at the sweet spot, but hopefully that will be soon. I suppose slower is better...don't want to stretch the pouch. I have a total loss of 31 pounds, but only 15 of that is since surgery. I only lost 1 pound last last month. I think I was eating too much at mealtimes, however, my surgeon told me to eat whenever I got hungry as it is too hard to eat slowly and small bites when hungry, which is still a problem for me, and I have pretty bad pain from the restriction when I swallow too much or too often. It's a learned process. I just hope I don't damage something while learning. Anyway, hope you continue with your success. It sounds like you are doing an awesome job! Keep me posted! And yes, I try to only weigh once a week, but it is hard not to every day!

LeighaMason, that is a fantastic idea! Thank you for the suggestion! I will try it today! Thanks!

I really want to do this program, but I am so afraid of dislodging or flipping something! I am 6 wks postop today. My surgeon told me I could do anything so long as there was not pain, but I still cannot shake the fear that something may not be "securely" in place with scar tissue, etc...Am I being too cautious? I guess I just need to get out there and try, but I am really afraid!

So, I am 6 weeks postop today, and I want to do the C25K program. I am very worried about something dislodging or flipping due to the jarring of running. Most of you feel this is okay? I am really scared to do much. My surgeon did tell me I could do anything as long as there was no pain, but I do still have the fear. Maybe I just need reassurance, IDK?

Hi guys! I'm Denise and I had surgery 5/24/10 in Hurst, TX. I had Dr. Marsden and he is the greatest IMO! Everything has gone just as he said it would. I am a nurse and fortunately I understand the post-op process, and I knew what I needed to do for a smooth recovery. I have had a couple of times where unexpected, severe nausea has hit me, but I have overcome this now and hope to continue succeeding. I am also trying to start my ticker, so forgive me if I have invited aliens or some other beings into the website! I have never done this before. Well, here goes...hope it is successful!

2 days postop; how much liquid at a time?
sassyaerolover replied to sassyaerolover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I will use all of the suggestions! I appreciate the encouragement and advice. I too am a nurse and the dehydration is a big concern, and I also know how protein is important in tissue healing as well. I am trying to cover both! Good luck everyone! -

I had surgery on 5/24 and I am trying diligently to heal and follow the recommended protein requirements. I usually make an 8 oz protein drink twice a day. I am taking up to an hour to drink this. Is this okay? I am also trying to get water through broths, popsicles, jello, etc...I just dont want to damage my new pouch or stretch it out! Does it sound like I am doing this correctly! -
Hi David! I too had surgery on 5/24/10. How are you doing? I think I am recovering as expected. I am mostly resting for now. Yesterday was worse than surgery day (I think all the anesthesia and numbing wore off) and then today was a little better than yesterday. I had a very large hiatal hernia repaired also. I did get the shoulder pain and the abdominal distention with gas, tho....tmi...sorry :smile2: Hope you do very well! Denise
