After trying many times to lose weight only to gain it all back (and then some), I decided to have Lapband surgery. It was a scary decision and a huge adjustment at first. I knew my life would change but figured that I could handle it. After finally being able to eat soft foods I was wishing that I had not waited until the Christmas season to have the surgery. I was banded on December 3rd and did so because we met our deductible and I needed to get it done before the end of the year. I just kept telling myself that next year the holidays will be back to normal (somewhat) and I was ready for the change. I toyed with telling people about the surgery and I am so glad that I didn't try to hide anything. Everyone has been so wonderful and supportive of me. I have since lost about 40 lbs and have much more energy now that I have joined a gym and am working out.
