Dying for a Diet Coke!!
jwkrock replied to Mamarotten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soda CAN stretch the pouch out over the bag. I stress, it CAN. Will it? Nobody knows for sure. Everyone is different. Question you need to ask is, is it worth the risk. Personally, I drink a soda pop here and there since my surgery (maybe one a week, if I'm out), and I've not had a problem, but it's still a gamble every time you do it. -
Hey guys. I just had my surgery this past Wednesday. I'm just curious when it's safe to go swimming after surgery. I know showering is OK, but I'm concerned about the chlorine in the pool. Any help would be great! Jason

Yesterday I Cried...newly banded
jwkrock replied to TXSassyGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's a little advice. A) Your band is a tool, nothing more. Since the dawn of time people have used tools to accomplish goals. Now, you can build a house with a swiss army knife, but wouldn't a construction team work better? My co-workers are against my lap-band and give me hassles about it all the time. THEY are on Weight-Watchers....again. Well, I've lost more weight in 8 days than they have in the last 8 years. Don't get me wrong, WW does work, but only if you have mega-discipline. I don't, so I got this tool to help me out, and it will help you out too. These feelings pass, you'll be alright. Never worry about being selfish when it comes to your own health! Your life is worth more than any dollar value. -
Thanks all. I'll see Dr. Enochs this tuesday and ask.

Hey all. For everyone still on cream Soups this week, I found a nice healthy recipe for a cold greek soup and it's very healthy and easy. 1 skinned SEEDLESS cucumber, diced 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tsp Lemon juice 1 cup fat free sour cream or plain yogurt 1 tbsp olive oil Just blend it in a blender and enjoy. It's refreshing and reminds me of tatziki sauce but thinner and creamier. Also, this should make about a cup of soup, so you should get 3-4 servings out of it, depending on how much you are eating. Banded 5/12 - 20 pounds gone so far! -
6 days Post-Op. Finally hungry. Can I cheat a day??

Not really cheat, lol. Just wondering if I could go to full liquids one day early. Would it really make that much of a difference? -

I was banded on 5/12/10. Started at 260, was 255 by surgery day. Had to spend the evening in the hospital, standard for a sleep apnea patient. So for the first two nights, staying ahead of the pain was simple. Once I got home, the only real problem I had was gas pain, especially under my left rib. That's slowly going away. Clear Liquids yuck. Towards the end of the week I was so sick of chicken/beef broth that I went to the chinese resturant and got some Wonton broth for a change of flavor. That got me through to fulls which I started today and think I may have gotten caught making out with my sugar free chocolate/banana cream pudding  Other than that, I've been back at work for three days now and feeling a little stronger each day. I've dropped 17 pounds so far. I know that rapid weight loss won't last forever, so now it's time to get back to the gym. If I hit 180, I'm getting another tattoo, lol. That's my prize. I think during the first two weeks, my biggest problem has been discerning what is hunger pain and what is simple surgery pain. As the swelling goes down, I'm finding it easier to tell the two apart. I'm very excited for the future. Anyone stuck in limbo right now, keep your head up. Everyone is different. Do the right thing to your body and it will pay you back! :w00t: -
Pain under left rib!!!! OUCH
jwkrock replied to jen36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to find this topic! I started getting this pain last night and called the doc just to be sure. I got a nurse who was on her way out the door and was so mad that I called as she was on the way out that she told me to go to the ER because I probably had a blood clot in my lung. Gawd you gotta LOVE North Carolina customer service. -
Hey guys. I'm Jason. My wife Jessica Kolman is also on this forum. She had her surgery in November, and I just had mine this past Wednesday. I've dropped 13 pounds already and this is the lightest I have been in years. I'm super excited and can't wait to see what the future holds. Still struggling thru Clear liquids, but only for a few more days. Anyways, just wanted to say "Hi" and I'll see you around. Jason:thumbup:

As an avid multi forum poster, it's very easy to get discouraged with all the negativity. Basic rule of the internet is that there are far more negative than positive people. Any forum you go to, you will have to wade through hellfire and brimstone to find a happy person. Keep looking, they are out there. I'm one of them
