  1. I am new to this site and am wondering how to update my weight on my profile and possibly add that weight ticker thing that so many people have?
  2. Hey- how's it going? Still jumping through the hoops you need to in order to get banded?

  3. I live in Bonney Lake, WA... The only support group I know of meets on Monday or Tuesday nights... I work every single Monday and Tuesday night. Are there any others that anyone knows of?
  4. I am two weeks post op, still on clears and protein, taking in about 400 calories a day... haven't done anything different, but in the past 5 days, my weight has stayed exactly the same... not on my period, so I know it's not that.... I know that plateus can happen, but anything I can do to tell my body that I am not in starvation mode and that it's okay to let go of the lbs???? Any ideas?

How can I break a plateau?

Thanks a lot! I think I am gonna add a few more calories to my intake... its just hard since I'm only doing sf stuff =(
  6. I am 5'5 inches and apparently I am supposed to be 150lbs... however I believe that if I was at 150, I'd probably look like a crack addict. I have always looked a great deal smaller than what the scale reads- I think my genetics give me a lot of muscle mass. I think the bottom line is that the number is just that- a number. Our real goal should be based on how we feel! =) Besides, I don't think I'd ever want to be "skinny"- I would just rather not be obese:tongue:
  7. I just got banded on 5/13/10 and am good. I don't get my first fill for another couple weeks, so as far as I know, my band is empty. I sometimes feel full on fluids alone, but then realize that my protein is due and need to take that in on top of my already full feeling. Since it is all liquid I figure its just gonna go through and couldn't cause any major harm. Am I correct in thinking this, or could a band be slipped by excess fluids? BTW no mushy foods for another 2 weeks (so taking only clears and protein shakes still. Thanks
  8. Arfey- find a local seminar on weight loss surgery- you will come out with a lot of these questions answered. I am not sure how much you need to lose, but I strongly recommend the band over all others. You won't lose weight quite as fast, but you also get to keep all those parts that God gave you ( the whole partial stomach and intestines removal always kind of erks me)... and to top it all off, its reversable if need be. As far as pregnancy post- band it is possible. My surgeon advises to wait 1.5 years after the band though. Good luck in your decision

    Liquid Pain Med

Liquid vicodin didn't do anything for me- I tried it in the hospital. The prescribed me liquid percocet instead- worked like a charm! =) Maybe you can ask to try the liquid oxycodone in the hospital?

In this for the long run!

Great job- good decision, there will be tough times, but just keep your daughter as your motivation... you want to see her through all of her "firsts" and then on her wedding day someday! It's all mind over matter with this band

    Stomach sleeper

I, like you, had this same question so I asked my Doctor. His reply was "whenever you can tolerate it". For some that means a couple days after surgery, others it means a few weeks. The main point is that I don't think you can do damage to your band by sleeping on your stomach as long as you aren't rolling around in bed while you sleep or using your abs too much while you are in the healing stage. I just had my band a week and a half ago, and I tried sleeping on my stomach a couple days ago and woke up a little achy, so I waited a few days and tried it again last night, no prob. Good luck

    My Loss *Please Read*

Wow- well I have never lost a loved one, so I can only imagine how you feel and I am so sorry for your loss. I can only say that I know your mom is looking down on you from heaven just as proud of you as she was here on earth. And I know she can still even see the progress you continue to make and new goals you are setting for yourself. Take care- one day at a time
  13. I was just banded 1 week ago... everything is going great, but I think I just got my first intense craving for my favorite sandwich at claim jumpers and I am a little upset about it. I just hope that maybe someday I may be able to have a small portion of it again. I think I am just anxious to see which foods I will tolerate and which ones I wont... I have 3 more weeks of clear liquids (my surgeon requires liquid diet 2 weeks before and 4 weeks after- super militant style) and I just hope that I will still be able to enjoy the foods I always have at somepoint down the road. I don't regret my decision to have done this at all and I knew that I would have moments like this when I really MISS solid food! I guess I just wanted to vent and maybe hear other stories on the issue of mourning those old favorites of ours =)

    Thanks! It worked =)

    Mourning over departing with food

Stargate- hang in there- I think I have that same devil visiting my shoulder sometimes... just envision yourself duct taping his mouth when he speaks and give the angel on the other shoulder a microphone =) I know how hard this is for all of us at first... especially those of us in the beginning of our journeys, but I just keep telling myself that it WILL get easier! We just have to be patient... we knew what we were in for when we signed up for this thing... we knew how tough times were gonna be. The whole "listening to that devil on the shoulder thing" is why we are all here right now ( he doesn't usually give good advice)
