    Any July Bandsters??

My big day is tomorrow. I've got alot to do today so that should make today go by quickly. I'm really looking forward to this new start.
  2. Getting laundry done before my big day. Also trying to pack for a short trip a couple of days after surgery. I've also been getting supplies ready for "after". As I was wandering around Crate and Barrel, I found a cute 6" purple plate that will be my new plate. I also purchased the smallest set of utensils to go with it. Actually they are horderves utensils.

    Any July Bandsters??

July 6th is just around the corner. I had to give blood again today because of an error with the previous pull. And then a last appointment at the doctors office. My surgery isn't scheduled until noon, which is the latest I've ever had surgery. The pre-op diet hasn't been bad at all. I would just suggest that you stay busy...really busy. I haven't told many people. My mother just found out last week and I told my father a couple of days ago. My daughter has known for about a month and she thinks it's cool. I'm finally starting to get tired after going since 5 am. Good luck and have a safe weekend!!!
  4. Hello! It's been a few days since I've been on due to madness. The pre-op diet is still going fine. Thank goodness I can have coffee. I had an appointment last Tuesday with the surgical center and this morning I had to give another blood sample cause they messed up the first one. Then at around 10:30 this morning I have another visit at the doctors office in prep for Tuesday's surgery. The hardest part will be getting through the weekend. Since it's a long holiday weekend...we don't have anything planned. And when I have nothing to do--> i think about food. Any free activities that I can take a 16 year old to???? I hope you all have a great July 4th and be safe!!!

    Any July Bandsters.....

My surgery is another begining to a crazy part of my life. Surgery--> July 6th My daughter's 16th birthday-->July 7th My daughter to participate in the state choir pratice and performance...July 8th and 9th Yeah, that's what we do for our kids!!!
  6. I tried to watch Shutter Island but lost interest. So I talked my daughter into telling me what happens. I don't sit still very well so I was doing housework while watching. I am going to watch Legion this morning while cleaning the kitchen.
  7. Today was a really long day. I decided to get up and go to some garage sales with my mother just to pass the time. This really helped me not to think about eating. Then I let my daughter drive me to the mall. Let me tell you...when you let a teenager drive, you only think about living. No thought of food came into my mind at anytime. But she did pretty good and we had a great time being silly in the stores. I think we might watch movies and play Uno tonight. Anyone been to see a good movie lately???
  8. 4th day of pre-op and I'm still going strong. The hardest part so far is that around 5:30 pm is when I get hungry. But since I get off work at 4, I can usually be home in time to get dinner. I went to a nutrition meeting tonight. And now to get this weekend started. I don't have anything planned, but I better find something busy to do or this pre-op will start to get to me. Any suggestions??? How are you all doing?
  9. Day 3 of the liquid diet-->feeling great! I went by Dress Barn on the way home to look for a "Goal dress". Found one but didn't purchase it. I have a pair of Harley Davidson jeans that I have hanging as motivation. This is just the first goal. Do any of you have an outfit that you are working towards??
  10. I'm on the staff of a football team and travel with them. You just solved something I was going to be concerned about. In the past I would eat Breakfast and usually not eat anything until 10 or 11 at night. And I don't eat after 8pm so often I still wouldn't eat. I will try the tuna and crackers since they travel well and I can keep them with me is my back pack.
  11. I've been trying a few different one for a couple of months. Spent lots of money and at GNC...if you don't like it you can take it back. Finally tried something at Wal-mart that is high protein, low carbs and calories. On another note. I slept a wonderful 8 hours last night. The only time I've done that over the years is when I'm sick. I wasn't really dreading going on the liquid diet. I've had to do it in my life before when I was into body building and I would do it often to flush my system. It help my skin. What I'm not looking forward to is to a BBQ with family members that are going to wonder why I'm not eating. I haven't informed them of anything. Anyway, I'm feeling great and I'm headed out to take on the world!!! Have a great day!
  12. :eek:Explain to me how someone who has the gastric bypass can be so judgemental of the Lap Band?

    Judgement by Gastric

Competitive??? I can understand that...but I don't chose to deal with it. Thanks everyone.
  14. This is my second day and I wasn't hungry. I had two protein shakes, tea, chicken broth and sugar free jello through the day. And for dinner I'm having a Smart One's (on sale at Hen House for $1.48) with some Jello for dessert. But I was tired as all get out!!!!

Since we're getting banded on the same day...we need to stay close to the treads.

    Any July Bandsters??

My date has been finalized...July 6th. That's such a wonderful date to me because my daughter was born July 7th. That gives me two dates to Celebrate a new part of my life. The only thing I'm dreading with the liquid diet are the weekends. If I'm busy, then I don't get to think about cravings. So....I'll be scheduling lots to do for the next two weeks.
  17. i have my date now....July 6th which is really cool cause my daughters 16th birthday is the 7th!!!! Yeah!!!
  18. Sort of good news. I have been approved since 04/29, but just received my letter after going back and forth with the insurance company. Anyway...I am approved for the procedure to be performed 06/29 with additional coverage to 07/03. That leaves one week...how crazy is that.
  19. Yeah, that helped. I've been thru enough surgeries in my life that I'm not concerned about that part. And the after isn't really a concern either. I just wanted to know about the pre-op diet and the day of. I hate taking pain meds and so far that is the only thing I'm really concerned with. I'm also a time control freak. I like to have all my time accounted for. I plan a lot of activities for me and my daugter.
  20. To Dr Malley patients: How did your procedure date go? What about you pre-op diet? Any extras about you experience will help getting ready "mentally". I'm just that person that has to know every thing. Thanks,
  21. Hello everyone! I live in Shawnee, KS...Work downtown KCMO...and also work in Manhattan, KS for KSU. So I'm all over the place. My stupid insurance company approved everything on the first go back on 4/29/10, but for whatever reason they haven't sent the letter. I could go on...but I don't want to bore you. I'm really excited that there are many in my area to relate to. I went to an informationa meeting 2 years ago and the next day was told that I have insulin resistance. I've spent all this time living a low carb life. Which wasn't to bad...other that fries! Not a bread person and don't like cake or cookies. I hate chocolate too...don't stone me!!!! Anyway...I hope to have some friends here to communicate with.:smile2:
  22. I get on here often, but there isn't really a section that I want to contribute to. Mainly...I would just like to hear how your day went as you progress thru this new change. How often do you think about this? Did you encounter someone today that made you feel good about your decision? I went to a Women's Expo this weekend. Some guy wanted to sell me some stuff for a few hundred dollars that would do everything in a matter of 6 weeks. I have never believed in doing anything short term. I only believe in life style changes. He told me that I was wasting my time with lap band...but wouldn't it be wasting my time more with a temporary 6 week program?? It really pissed me off. I've always been an active athlete. Anyway...that is my rant for the day. I hope you can share your ups, downs, and discoveries of the day.

    As I look back...

I love that you are going with "Me Power". My personal opinion is that you can't be a sexy and wonderful person on the outside if you don't feel that way on the inside. You stay strong cause you know your grandmother would be proud of you.
  24. Hello ya'll! Well things are just as crazy as before. After I called the insurance company 5 times and the doctors office has also talked to them 4 times...I had to go deeper with my anger. I went to management. Of course they tell me that it was approved 04/29/10 and she can see in the records where I was informed that all letters would be in the mail to both of us. She doesn't understand what the problem is. I have had BCBS most of my life including as a child. This company has been apart of my extended families lives for as long as I can remember. It just isn't working for me. So let's hope we might have something figured out.
  25. Well the insurance rep for my surgeon called to update me. She also called the insurance company to question them about the fact they told her several times that they would send the letter and still hadn't sent it. Anyway...football season is starting and we're getting ready. I had to get re-certified today. Now to lose this weight so I can be comfortable in the airplane seat.
