I was just wanting to get to know some of you from OK if you're out there. I live in Broken Arrow. Close to Tulsa. Wanting to use a doc. named Dr. Lester for fills, has anyone else used him yet? Kristi

I don't know. Any time is great for me. I don't work weekends anymore,so I am up for a drive on a weekend. Anybody know a good central location that's cool to meet? Maybe we should meet up in Alaska, I have never been there!! OKay, well maybe not. Lets see we have OKC, Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Pauls Valley, Dallas, Muskogee. There is also another OK thread, I vote we all start using that one, since I started this one I could just kill it. Sunshine started the other one. I think I will pop on over there to see how she is doing. Kristi

Chrispy, Thank you for the compliment! I used to get so sick of everyone saying"but you have such a pretty face....", because the rest of me didn't match.LOL It sounds like you have a lot of dating to catch up on, if you have a list of men you haven't dated....and that list comes from several women? I can't wait to hear your stories. One of my coworkers wants me to go out with her son, he thinks I am cute. I feel like a 4 th grader, getting fixed up, its so funny. Anyway my date is tonight. I will come back and tell ya'll what fun I had. Missy and Serious, congrats on your fills. I had that first fill, and couldn't handle it, I had to go back and get unfilled a bit. I think I may need another fill, but not as much as last time. But if I am working out hard enough, I THINK I will be okay for a while. I still have to watch what I am eating, and slow down a lot. Tuna is my worst enemy. I don't think I will ever be able to eat it again. At least I can still do chicken and beef to an extent. I'm from OK, I can't begin to imagine not eating a steak every once in a while!!! Jodie, you're too funny. Hard decision, my butt. And what about the ex-stripper cop? Is he too high maintenance, or what? Wootsie (Joan), sorry bout your crush. I hope everything goes alright. Maybe it just isn't meant to be. But that just means someone BETTER is waiting around the corner for you. I know you will find them. I may have left someone out, if I did, sorry. TTYL Kristi -

Genius, What do you have your doctorate in? My father finished up his a few years ago, in education. We call him Dr. B. It's so cool to tell people about it, I am so proud of him. He is a retired superintendant/principal, now working part time as a counselor. I have never wanted that much education, just the smarts of having it. Guess that probably won't happen soon, though, so I will stick with my associate's degree. It pays the bills. I have lost around 40 lbs. since just before surgery on Nov. 1. So I know I am doing great, I guess I am in a hurry for all of this weight to come off. I worked out Really Really hard this weekend, did the treadmill for 45 minutes saturday and sunday both days, jogging and walking, and today I did the elliptical at the gym for almost 50 minutes, got my heart rate up to 150 or so for most of it. I finally am starting to lose a bit more, so I guess my body just needed that extra boost. Jody, You go girl! If he's been chasing you for that long, why is he letting you have an open relationship? Was that your idea, or his? Joan, I have only gone to marriage counseling(by my self, I might add), so I can't help you with any of that, I can tell you it does help a lot of people work things out. I know some doctors make their patients go to counseling about the lifestyle change, and the old and new eating habits, etc, before they will do lap band surgery on them. It may be a good idea, just to help figure out if you are an emotional eater, and what emotions usu. trigger the eating, or something like that. Personally I figured out on my own over the years that my eating is related to a few personal experiences(bad) that I have had. I can give you more info, but not on this public arena. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Charlotte, Most of us like what we like, and don't really have any control over it. I am like you, tho, I don't want someone very overweight, I like em in shape, so it only goes along with the fact that I need to lose weight also. Welcome to our thread. Okay, so I am going out this weekend with one of the construction workers. Woo Hoo!!! Most of you girls remember the workers, right? Don't know where we will go yet, but will keep you posted. Wootsie, Thanks for the website, I will try it now that I know where to find it. I already bought Hanks Protein Drink mix, I have had one, with some skim milk, they are pretty good. You get a lot of protein in one drink. Not a lot of fat either. Thanks for posting that website on here. You will get that surgery, and hopefully the diabetes will go away with the weight. Your PCP will be so happy that he approved you for surgery becauses you will be SO much healthier in the long run. Serious, I think you should try to get an appt. with the girl that you are using now, on a day when she is not there. Then just ask if you could use the other gal instead. If she does a better job, keep her. If your "friend" the old stylist asks, just tell her you'd rather not know all the details about the shop and everyone else in there...maybe she willl get the hint not to talk about it while you are out with her socially. Tough to say. She sounds like she hates her job, maybe she needs to go somewhere else. Susannah, I wish you luck on your search. I am not having much luck here. I am not really trying, but still, you know what I mean. Okay, so here is my problem. I have been doing our little valentines day challenge. I have been working out. Not lifting weights, just a bunch of cardio, even jogging. Walking, jogging, sledding, worked out with a trainer, and do the elliptical machine. But my weight hasn't budged in 3 weeks, or so. What gives? My clothes aren't fitting any differently either. It is really making me mad. I haven't cheated often, here and there, but usually I have a Protein Drink for Breakfast, a midmorning snack, usually something like crackers, a diet dinner for lunch, one of those small smart ones, NO pop, NO juice, NO ice cream, if I have chips, I only have small amounts for a snack, and they are the baked ones. I just don't get it. Everything I eat as a general rule is low fat, baked, or something like that. I don't have french fries, or burgers anymore. Any help for a struggling woman? Kristi -

Serious, I used to be one of your lonely married friends! Thats one of the reasons I divorced him. He would ask off for separate vacations, days off, etc, just to not be with me I guess. I am more like MissyC, I am very shy until I get to know people, have always been that way I suppose. I have a few good friends, not much of a network. I don't really have guy friends, although I get along better with men. I would love to date and not care what people think. I applaud you for doing what you want and when you want to do it. Kristi -
Hello. I haven't posted here in a bit. Just wanted to pop in and see how every one is doing with the ice and sleet? I know we had someone from McAlester here at one time. Heard they had no power down there. How is everyone? I am supposed to go to Dallas Tuesday(from Broken Arrow) for a fill. I don't think I will be making it this week. Unless I fly, and alll the runways are clear. I dunno. It's a toss up I guess. I have a question for ya'll. Do you remember where they are putting that big Indian carving? I thought it was going to be down riverside drive here in Tulsa, on the west side of the river, but I am not so sure. And when is it coming? Not a big deal, just wondering, without going and searching. Hey, we all need to get together when it gets warmer. Go for a walk or light meal or something I will try to post more, I have been posting at the single bandsters mostly. I tried the November bandsters, but there are so many of us, I can't keep up with everyone. I like the smaller threads. Kristi

Where did you lose first?
KristiB replied to timeforchange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost my boobs first!!! Now I am back to a B cup. My face, my upper body excess weight, a bit on my back, a bit on my butt and legs, and a lot on the calves. Mostly upper body neck, etc. I am shaped a little bigger on the bottom to begin with, almost like a pear, but my shoulders and hips are pretty matched for width, so I always carried my weight evenly over my body if this helps you any!!!! Jodie, HA!! It's been so long since I dated, I may enjoy a hookup! No, just joking. You are probably right, thats all those younger guys see, is potential booty call. But seriously....I joined that dating service last year, and put it on hold. Tomorrow I am going to calll and reinstate my membership. they OWE me 9 more dates. I paid for em. LOL what a loser I have become. Okay, all you OKIES are you ready for this ice storm coming up? I want to leave work before it gets bad. But, I will probably be stuck until 5pm. Lord 5 hours of ice on the streets, I don't think I can bear it!! But I got new tires this week, so I will be fine. O How's the dating going? Anyone here to report back yet? Crispy, where ya been? Missy, Haven't you been reading? We are dating!! LOL wish I was. I have been at the gym trying to meet our February challenges. I started to date last year, joined one of those matchmaking expensive places, I put it on hold last year after meeting a bunch of people I didn't fit well with. I think Iam going to re open that account. I have veen at the gym!!! I am under 200! And then last night I blew it by having or TRYING to have some breadsticks from pizza hut. Wrong move. PB and J Otter, and a slimy time with it!!! So for most of the day I have been on liquids to let my tummy recover. Lesson learned. Sometimes my band is tighter than....well I don't know what it's tighter than, but its tight!! And sometimes, I feel like I could eat a whole pizza!! Just plain weird. Dreamer, I am in OK too. Broken Arrow. I went to Dallas to have my band. How old is your daughter? Kristi -
Poodles, Hey I used Benavides also. How have you done when going back to the office? I just got my first fill a few weeks ago, up to 2.2 cc in my 4cc band. I was just like you couldn't eat solids to save my life. Okay a cracker or two would go down, but no meat, no Pasta, no thick mashed potatoes, no steamed veggies, not much of anything. So I went back before Christmas for an unfill. I now have 1.8cc in my band, but now i feel like there is not much restriction. For lunch I ate one of those Michelinas diet dinners, but it was either 8 or 10 oz, so I think I am too loose now. I am contemplating going back for another filll again, even though it's only been a couple of weeks since my unfill. Kristi

I want everyone to start dating again. My problem is that men my age don't hit on me, even when I am thinner. It's usually men in their early to mid twenties! ( I'm 34)Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the attention. Maybe I look so much younger? I really don't see it though.) Anyway, are any men reading this? Give me some feedback. Maybe because I am fun and cool, and easy going and awesome. Yeah right. Okay, so I have gone to the gym twice, and walked on my treadmill tonight for 25 minutes.(Had to get the girl in the bathtub so didn't make 30, but Monday I worked out with a personal trainer and tonight I feel like cutting my legs off they hurt so bad!) I am still not losing weight though. I had that fill, then I had that unfill, so maybe I need to get another fill and just give myself more time to get used to the fill. I just dunno. I don't feel like driving back to Dallas anytime soon, I have used up all of my PTO at work. Any good ideas? Welcome back all of you who were gone for so long! Klo and Dru. SuperG, Getting close!! Good Luck on that surgery! Chrispy, I am hoping you got moved outta that place and into a more serene environment. Texas Rose, you are doing great to be walking that fast. I am a fast walker, most people don't keep up with me, and I only walk about 3.5. Way to go. Wootsie, I am glad I am not alone with checking out the veins. LOL I hope you had a great weekend with the dogs. Last night my mini poodle ate my daughters starfish. Yes, real starfish, one of those dried things you can buy to put in the bathroom with a bunch of shells. I can't believe that dog. Hes cost me about 1200dollars so far, and I only paid 250 for him, the rest is from the vets office from him eating all kinds of crap. Missy, I LOVE the elliptical. My knee hurts so its much better for me than walking, running and even cycling sometimes. But I do know what you mean. Whats your machine of choice? Okay, I think thats all I have to say, so I will wind this down. ttyl Kristi -

so maybe we should have a mini goal every now and then. It could be valentines day for this next one. Missy is going to go 30 mins on the treadmill. I am going to lose 10 more lbs, and do 30 mins on the elliptical, 3 times a week. I can do that. Anyone else? Genius, that's a great song huh? I also like SOS, and Don't you wish your girlf was hot like me? !!! Chrispy, where are you moving to? Wootsie, how's the ogling coming? I was so embarrassed at work today I was checking out one of the construction workers, and the foreman saw me doing it. He said some comment about how he thought only men did that! Ok, so the guys asked us at my office if we'd like to go see the "little sisters". I think it sounds funny, but I dont know if I want to go to a gentlemens club. LOL the sisters are little people, who happen to be strippers. Happy new year everyone! Kristi -

Woo hoo! Glad I am not the only one who gained weight over the holiday. I only gained 2 lbs, but still!! I had to go back to Dallas to have an unfill. I couldn't stand it anymore, every time I ate I hurt so bad! But now that my body has gotten used to it, I think I could use that fill back. Maybe I was eating too fast or not chewing enough. So I have 1.8 cc in my 4 cc band, I am still at 205, but I had gotten to 202, or 203, so I am bummed. But, I am starting working out tomorrow night, so hopefully it will start again. I got an ipod to work out with, so I will have some motivation, from "bringin sexy back!" You HAve TO lose weight working out to that one!! Hope every one comes back soon, I am bored!! Kristi -
I tried to take an allegra 9 days post op- thought I was going to die it hurt so bad. I feel like I had a lot of restriction at first though. So maybe you could do it. Since then I am so scared to try it I have had my scrip changed into a liquid form, they mix it at the apothecary shop. Ins. pays for it too. Same price as pills. It still tastes nasty though. Kris

Okay. I am going to try this challenge. I haven't posted in a while to the Nov bandsters, I can't keep up with everyone. There are so many of us!!! I had my first fill last tuesday, dec 12. I have lost like 6 lbs this week. I can't eat any kinds of meat, not chicken, not tuna, not sliced beef, not nothing. I can't eat bread. I don't think I am getting enough Protein, I can only stand a shake a day, i don't feel like I am getting enough solids. I have been avoiding solids now, so I am going back for an unfill wednesday. I can only have like 3 SMALL bites of anything. I don't think its supposed to be like this. I guess I am losing the weight, so thats all that matters. Well, not its not. Since I am still so full from my "meals" I can't get enough Water either. Yep, definitely an unfill. I have been drinking as much water as I can, does anyone like Fiji water? its great!!! Kristi 4cc band .5 cc at surgery, 11-1 1cc added 12-12 going to have some taken out

Lajuanna, I don't know about any other ins. cos, but I THINK if you are on the community care PPO plan, they cover bariatric surgery. I am changing to the PPO, now have HMO, and I know the PPO will cover any existing conditions, so if I erode or something they will cover to have it taken care of. I have heard that they will pay for the surgery if you fit the qualifications ie you are at least 100 lbs overweight, have 2 or more comorbidities, or a BMI of 40 and 1 comorbidity. I used Dr. Benavides in Dallas, I was not overweight enough for the Tulsa docs to do. And I don't have HBP, or diabetes, or whatever else they consider a comorbidity. I had a BMI of 37.5. Isn't that fat enough? Geesh. Anyway, my surgeon only requires you to be 60 lbs overweight for the lapband. He says if he did the bypass, he would require the 100 lb, or 40 BMI standards. Hope this helps a little. I have heard that Blue Cross Blue Shield pays for the band and bypass, but not sure. Kristi

Missy, You are just being truthful! I look at em too. I do (please don't tell anyone"gulp") mammograms, and CTs, Xrays, I guess that tells you what sortof work I do. But it's so funny, I look at womens chests all the time, thinking if they would be hard to do, easy etc. If I see a woman with BIG bosoms, I am thinking to myself, OMG, someone has to image those! And now I am doing venipuncture, so I always look at people's veins, and when I see a big juicy one, I want to plop a needle right in there!! Gross, I know. I think the medical field has warped me. But I love mens butts!! Legs are nice, too, and I adore nice big shoulders! I think we have scared all the men away from our singles thread by now. Sorry Kristi -

okay I haven't posted in a bit, I have been getting used to myself since the fill. It sure is different. I had .5cc before, they added another cc. I have a 4 cc band. Boya, can I feel restriction now!! I am truly a 4-6 oz girl now. I am going to be flashing that card so I can get a kids meal now. I don't think I can do chicken anymore, darn. I love chicken!!!:faint::faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: I will definitely be down under 200 by Christmas. I have lost 4 lbs since my fill on Tuesday, I know, I know, I shouldn't be losing that fast, but I can't eat! well, not much. I am going to HAVE to start weight training, my arms look like those flying monkey wings! I think I could takeoff with themLOL! Okay, this is my opinion, and I know my opinion changes all the time, but right now this is what I think about the guys who like us thin, but not when we were big. Men are visual creatures. They must be attracted to something to pursue it, they will get to know it later. Like their cars, or trucks. Men love those sleek, fast, beautiful sport cars, or the big 4 wheel drive duallys. ImagineTim the Toolman Taylor:D and what his response would be when he sees a hot rod. They are attracted to the lines, the curves of the vehicle. They get to know how she handles in the rain, and how loud her radio is, or if she has heated seats, or real defog, or god forbid global navigation systems after they have made the purchase. They don't want a station wagon. I know this may not be a good analogy of the mind of men, but its how I imagine them. Anyway, I wouldn't have dated men who were bigger than me, because I wasn't attracted to them. There has to be attraction, or it will never work. I am not saying it's right, but it's how it is. I am going to have to get used to it. As for the men I know, who may want to date me after I lose weight? No way. But for other men who didn't know me when I was overweight? Sure, because they had no option to turn me down before. I know... it sounds warped. This is MY opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own........ Kristi -

I had my fill yeserday. It felt very weird. I guess it's okay. I had a bad I guess we call it the PB, where it feels like it gets hung up, and you are so miserable you just want to vomit. Didn't vomit, but needed to. I think it was a little piece of chicken. Might not be able to do chicken... crap. Anyway, yes I agree. New Years sucks when you are single. Also Valentines day. Thanksgiving and Christmas are usu. okay for me, cause I have the rest of the family to occupy my mind and time. But there is something about New Years. Its always about renting the room at the nicest hotels in town, partying with a bunch of other couples. I miss it. Its been a long time since I had fun on New Years. My doc was proud of me. Lost 21 lbs since 11-1-06. I already had .5 cc, so the PA added 1cc. I can feel the restriction a lot! Well, it was only yesterday,so maybe I will get used to it. Kristi -

Terrilyn, you should meet the man. Give him a chance. Chances are, he is feeling the same way. I joined eharmony for a while, and was matched up with a lot of men, but only met one of them. We had ended up talking so much on the phone, that we sortof ran out of things to say in person. Needless to say, we didn't go out again. And of course, there were no sparks, but it could have been a better date if we had more left to say to each other. Kristi and besides, maybe he has other single friends who you are destined to meet. He is a man, and he can go out with you as friends, if nothing more. Someone to bring along as a date to the Holiday parties you will be invited to maybe? -

Would anyone be up for an evening sometime in the chat room? Maybe we can take votes on a time, and all be there. I am in the middle of a snowstorm, so tomorrow night would be fine. I am not leaving my house except for work. Don't even want to do that. Kristi Day before yesterday our high temp was 76, today our high is 28.
