Mashed Potatoes and Eggs?
joecs1 replied to craigmorganfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Scrambled is fine but dont over cook them. I also pureed my own fruits and added them to low fat yogourts. Light flakey fish are no problem. I went to a resturant and had fish with sauce on the side. Just be sensible. Look in the Food and nutrician sub forum hear and you will find a thread on foods/recipes people have tried for the diferrent stages. It helped me a lot. -
I had my 3rd fill yesterday. 8 cc total in a 15cc band. I am pretty restricted, but I am able to have liquids, but I can feel them going slower than before. I am sure that I have some swelling. But, how long does it last after a fill? My first two fills did not restrict me at all. Nor did I notice any swelling.

Well said by all posters! We all go through this to some degree. I got very teary a handful of times in the first 2 weeks. You will adjust and feel better soon I am sure. Especially when people compliment you on your weight loss! I just had 2 compliments in the last 2 days! you will be there soon too!

8 1/2 weeks post-op and disgusted.....
joecs1 replied to SHRINKINMOM2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find it interesting that my Dr is aggresive with fills. 3rd fill since suregery on may 25th was four days ago. I have 8ccs in a 15cc band. I now have restriction. I appreciated the fills and really did not experience bandster hell. -
Sounds like you need a fill. My Dr is a little aggresive with fills. I have had 3 since my surgery, may 25th, 8ccs total and I am feeling restriction now. After my second I was more like you, as the day went on I could eat more, unless I didnt chew well or ate too fast. My dr told me if I am still getting hungry after 2 weeks, come back for a fill. Your dr may be ok with a fill ahead of "schedule".

I definetly have restriction. I now know why I have been practicing chewing and eating slow. It has been a tough weekend for eating. I am feeling better than I did the other day. According to my home scale, I lost 3.5 more lbs over the weekend. This might be "Lap Band Heaven"!

Please tell me this is not normal!!!

As far as your return to work and pain, you will be fine. The biggest problem is the fatigue. -
Well, I am definetly cose to the sweet spot. Im feeling better this afternoon. Apple sauce, yougert, and 3 spoons of chile today. But I am full, and it was slow going. I think I am happy!

Scott, CONGRATS ON EVERYTHING! I am down 41lbs total and I am noticeing a lot of changes in my golf swing. Unfortunately, very eratic. But with some more practice its gonna be great. I am already driving the ball 20-30yds farther. I am just all over the place. Its all good! Keep up the good work.

I used to be covered by my wifes ins thru her employer. the employer had the exclusion put into their plan. the ins comp said the only way is to have the employer waive the exclusion and pay the difference in premium. Her employer refused. I ended up going out and getting my own policy and plan to return to hers next year.

Coco hit the nail on the head! I think you reall need more time. I have read here that some have done that, and felt terrible. You should take some time to heal. It is so important. Good luck!

Overall I eat pretty healthy. But if I want something, I have it, IN MODERATION! I have not binged at all. I feel, if you deny yourself those things, you wont be happy, and you will lose control. This may not work for everyone, but it works for me. 26lbs since surgery in 2 months.

Glad to hear it! Keep up the good work! -
Unfortunately I am back to the liquid diet. My previous 2 fills I had no restriction. I hope its just a lil swelling and I wont need an unfill of anysort. but I am feeling very restricted.

joecs1 replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What was the date of your surgery? May 25th, 2010 How healthy did you/do you eat? low carb but I do not deny myself anything if I really want it. but it is certainly in moderation. How much do you exercise? not much but I work retail, walk a lil, and I play golf once a week. How much have you lost? 41lbs total, 26 from surg. as of this morning Are you happy with your results -

I didnt vote because there is not enough info on the circumstance. But I had a yellow lab that bit my son when he was 2. We investigated trying to find a home for the dog, but ran into resistence. I wasnt going to lie, and no one wanted a dog that showed aggresive behavior. We ended up haveing to put him down. It was heartbreaking. But you can not take the chance with your mothers dog and your kids. This is a zero tollerance issue, however you solve your issue. -
I crave spicey foods.....HOT! I use hot salsa on alot of things and my favorite is "siracha" chinese pepper sauce which has a lot of garlic on it. It tastes good with most foods too.

THATS INSANE! AWESOME.:puke:

I would call your dr office. Usually they will have an insurace specialist. they will be able to find out your liability. and if the dr is sympathetic, may help you out with the bill. My Dr is only taking what the insurace pays. Its worth a try! Hang in there!
-
1st of all, your back to liquid then mushies. these foods dont stay with you very long, hence, hungry most of the time. Mentaly, You want to get back to a "normal" diet as soon as poss. I think this is all normal, IMO! Just hang in there and you will be fine.

I have a scale but it is so inaccurate. seems depending on where it sits, it is off sometimes light, sometimes heavy. Im talking inches apart in location. Can anyone recomend a good home scale?
-
I took 1 full week off. I had fatigue problems but it was not the end of the world. IMO, 2 weeks would be ideal. Right when you should be starting mushies. You will feel better all around! And you should have your head on straight too!
-
My guess would be, hopefully, dietary issues. Not to ask TMI, but are you gassy or constipated or the opposite? Have you tried gas-x? I hope this is the simple answer! I really doubt its the band itself because it is at the top of your stomache. Feel better soon and let us know how you made out with your tests/doctors!
