  1. Hi, my name is Christina. I was banded the other day, Thurs Nov 2. Today is my 1st full day at home. I woke this morning and my stomache was growling? I think, not sure what the sound was. It has been doing it all day off and on. It doesn't hurt. I am on a jello, broth, h20 diet till Wed when I see my Doc and the nutritionist for the next step. I am a little confused on how much I should drink at once? This usually helps the noise. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks

    My stomache is making noises!!!!

Everytime I think I have intergestion, I seem to have to let out a belch. So This could just be the build up of the gases trying to escape. I did start having some Gastro problems today. I think my body is retaliating to all the luquids. Any body else having this problem?

Still Waiting on Insurance - UHC

I know how your feel. my L4-L5 L5-S1 is herniated and i am unable to walk/stand for any length of time. I am constantly in pain. i see a pain mgmt Dr. Who originally was the one who brought this banding to my attention. Otherwise, I never thought to be a candidate for it. I saw several surgeons, who said I would have a hard time to be approved. Which was fine, because I did not care for any of them any way. When I found a Dr. That I like, and he happened to be in my UHC Network, I was happy. His insurance administrator told me to complete all of his pre- op testing to see if I am a candidate, then we will worry about ins. I went through intense counseling, nutritional, cardiovascular, sleep studies, pulmonary, gastro. Everything came up perfectly fine except, they found that I had Gall Stones, which my Gall Bladder was removed on 10/4/06, Then I was told that I had Mild obstructive Sleep Apnea, who would have known? With the sleep apnea, proof of dieting on my own and w/ my Primary Dr. as well as letters of medical necessity, I was approved. If you want private message and we can see if any of the things I did can help you. My approval took 1 week. Good luck Christina

    Coughing & pills

Hi, I ws banded on 11/2/06 My Dr. gave me a flat sided Teddy bear to place over the wounds to help ease the pain when I cough. you can also use a pillow to place there. It really does help with the coughing and deep breathing. As for the pills vs the liquids. I have been told that I have to crush all the pills and mix on a spoon w/ liquids and if it is a capsule to open and mix w/ h20. The dr. Said the reason for this is the body may not process the pill like before and you may pass the pill in it's original form and find no relief from having taken it. This is till the stomcahe is healed about 2-4 weeks. although we are all made differently, so if it is working to break the pill in half, then you are lucking!. Good luck Christina:o

    My stomache is making noises!!!!

Thanks everyone for helping me out with this. It has gotten better. Took everyones advise. I have been taking Gas X it "sounds" like it is working. Feels like it too. I have been moving around more as well and that seems to help as well. I also started drinking more broth ( had enough of the boring H20) Thanks again! Christina:clap2:

Still Waiting on Insurance - UHC

Hi, I have UHC and have had them for the last 6 years. When I called they told me that I had to have a BMI over 40 and have had to be obese for over 5 years. Well, I did not meet those requirements. I found a great Dr. Dr. R Vohra in Hewlett, NY. His staff is wonderfull. I started all of the pre op testing and found out that I had/ have sleep apnea. In the recommendations from the sleep apnea group was a restrictive weight loss prgoram through a Dr. This is how my Dr. was albe to get the surgery approved. I also had all of my Dr's write me letters of medical necessity for the surgery. This helps as well. my pre op info BMI 36 weight 204 lbs, only 5'3 tried everything and could not lose the weight. I had my surgery on 11/2/06 - 2 days banded, Good luck
