respectfully, that doesn't make much sense. I can't just found my own church based on some catholic principles and then call myself catholic and expect the catholic church to say, Oh well, she did found her church on one or more of our principles, just interpreted it differently, so she is part of the community. uh, no. And where do you get your information that the mainstream Mormons still practice polygamy? I'm not sure where there info is from and why you think it is accurate. the fact is that since you don't believe in this religion, your knowledge of it is very limited and often incorrect. As is my knowledge on most other religions other than my own, so I'm not blaming you for that by any means. You just wouldn't catch me bashing other religions and spurting out incorrect information about them. As I said before, what positive came from you being so hateful toward a group of people who have done nothing to hurt you, who in most cases, try to be the best people they can be. so you have been looking at the LDS.org website and that is exactly what we believe on there. If you don't agree then so be it, that's your choice. I understand that if you don't believe in a God, then you wouldn't understand or agree with most everything on there. so I get it.

ok, so only woman can bear children, men cannot. so men are inferior in that case. I guess if you look at it like that that, then sure. in The Church, men cannot hold office in the Relief Society, the largest all woman's service organization in the world, so therefore men are inferior. Just becuase i woman can't hold the priesthood doesn't mean they are inferior the positions which they hold are equally as important to the scheme of things. They have different responsibilities but not of less importance. does that make more sense to you?

I didn't respond to this thread to bash back and forth, I responded because i hated to see some one throw false information about the people whom I love dearly out there. I didn't want others to take that misinformation as fact. My intentions are to maybe educate her a bit on the difference between warren jeff's "mormons" and The LDS community. I think others reading this post benefited from knowing the differences. I don't intend to change anyone's oppinions on religion, afterall it's your right to choose what you want to believe. I think we are all God's children, Gay, straight, athiest, catholic, Mormon, whatever, and he loves us all the same and we all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

I answered your questions and the stupid curser that sticks deleted it all and jumped to another page. so in short one out of 2 marriages ends in divorce and in the Mormon church that is not the case, it's less than that. the aid to hurrican katrina thing, I saw on a local news channel when i was living in FLorida. The other things came from a book called Who are the Mormons that i used to have. i read it before and some of it stuck with me.

the average person. gave more than more any other organization or person. I think you knew what i meant.

because the priesthood is something that has been passed from man to man all the way back to Adam. It was never intended for a woman to have it. God is a man and it was passed from him to Adam first.

In the mormon religion that I belong to we are taught that we are equal to men, however, we do have different roles in the home and church. Woman are encouraged to obtain higher education, to have self respect, and to be the best woman and in a lot of cases mothers we can be. If you look on the website at what we believe about famiies you will see why having children is encouraged and important in the plan of salvation. The fact is that it all goes back to our free agency, noone is told what to do, ever! As woman we have the right to choose wether or not to have children. I personally love my children very much and feel bad for people who choose not to have any because they will never experience that love. Boys in the church serve a mission as the age of 19 not 15, girls are also welcome to serve one too. Boys dont' have to serve one, my husband did and says it's the best thing he has ever done for himself and others. it changed him for the better. We can drink caffeine and soda Pop. It must be the girls parents who don't let her drink those things, personal choice i guess. i had a friend wasn't aloud to have any red candy as a kid, they were catholic I don't think it had anything to do with their religion. FYI Mormons donated more money and had more people volunteer than any other organization for Hurricane Katrina Mormons on average have a much lower divorce rate lower cancer rates are more likely to own a home are more educated have their own welfare system so it's members don't have to turn to the government for help, they take good care of their members and others. The entire church is run by volunteers, noone is paid, not bishops, missionaries, noone. The church is debt free and teaches it's members to follow that. the point is that Mormoms have done a lot for society and are generally very honest hardworking, family oreinted people. Here is quote that i heard and it has stuck with me since. "I would rather have lived my life as it were true, to find out it's not, than to live my life as if it's not to find out it was true." I don't think mormoms pressure their beliefs on anyone, we are just living our lives the best we can and helping others on the way. WE are all just people, here on this Earth together.

well as for my spelling, i'm on a crappy laptop and the curser sticks and jumps around, s o it messes up my typing and it's so obnoxious that i don't bother to fix most of it.

you would not go down in history as a Mormon, fact is that The Church won't know what you chose, but if you did happen to choose to accept it then your work is done. Here on Earth nothing is changed, other than the fact that the Temple will not do work for you again since it is done. I don't think that members of The Church would be disrespect enough to actually go through changing official records if you have any. , seriously This is not a big deal. Sunta, the Warren Jeffs group are not Mormons in any manner of speaking, are you saying that if I call myself a Jew then i am a jew even if I practive everything they preach against and go against everything they stand for? Start Murdering people in the name of the Jews? No I don't think think the kind and peaceful Jewish community would recognize me and my followers as part of them. would you? Also, there aren't any real Mormons practicing Poligamy, its lagainst the law and against church teachings. They would be excommunicated from the church if they were practicing that. It did happen for a period of time for a reason and now it's not in practice. I explained the underware in other posts, someone else explained it too. It's basically just a reminder to you and symbollic of different things, modesty being a big one.
-
yeah i would prefer you refer to them as that. they are not members of the Real church, they call themselves Mormons so they can have the religious "right" to practice poliga eymy don't group them into the main sect of mormons, because are not part of that. they even have their own temples from what i understand and prophets, ie. Warren Jeffs. he is a disgusting man, evil and not of God or the LDS community. So i am compltetely offended to be grouped in with that nasty man. That's your oppinion about the Christian groups, not ours. So to each his own, it's your right i guess.

marys, you are correct, expect that men do wear them. more often them woman actually

YOu must not be speaking of the Mormon religion! I don't know of any rapings of children or anything else that you speak of. You're views are terribly skewed. Sorry you have such a warped knowledge of the religion. And I mean terrible warped. If you care that much about being baptised after death , call the chuch headquarters and ask them what to do about it. maybe they can somehow remove your name. I don't know how it works. I think there are othe more important things to be so passionate about. since you don't seem to have any belief in God. Before i do something, I ask myself what positive will come out of it? so what positive impact would it have to call the Church make a big stink, embaress yourself with your skewed knowledge of what these people believe, just to make sure your name isn't spoken after you are dead in their Temples that you have no belief in at all. What good would that do? It would just waste your time and energy and theirs. Seriously, i don't know why you are so worried about it, chances are, that if you have no friends or ancestors in The Church, that it may never happen, it's not like they go looking up obituaries to baptise.
-
exactly Carlene, I think a majority of relgions are of God and are doing great things for people and I am all for it wether it be Mormons or baptists or catholics. I think that if you want to know whether a catholic worships statues, read their bible and talk to a Priest and ask them, don't ask some X catholics who are sour with the church and probablly didn't even know enough about it to be stating fact. If you understood the underware i don't think you would find it strange. At least that was my case, I am a convert and thought it th to be very strange until i understood the reasons. Basically, without going into detail they are symbolic of different things, that's all. nothing weird, just a reminder to yourself
-
yes thats it.
-
so you obviously have no care for religion at all, that's your choice, but knowing what we believe to be true, don't you think that if you accepted after death, God would know? after all he is there. and knowing what we know about the afterlife, did you not realize that we don't believe we are brain dead? we believe you are still yourself, just in a perfected body like Jesus was after he rose from the dead. so no, obviously we don't believe there is a "portal" I don't think you can protect your name from being baptised, i would think you would be flattered that someone loved you enough to take time out of their busy schedule to spend the day at the Temple doing your ordinances. They would believe they were doing the right thing regardless of what you believe. Who cares, you don't believe in heaven right? so why would it matter if someone spoke your name in The House of the Lord? When there is no Lord to you anyhow, so it means nothing to you. Who cares?

we believe everyone will have the opportunity accept the Gospel dead or Alive. so, people who die before judgment day are sort of waiting, and will have the opportunity to learn and accept it. The thing is that we are all God's children and he wants with all of his heart for us to return to live with him, so he has made it possible that all of the ordinances have been restored to the Earth in these days and that everyone will have an opportunity to accept his Plan. So that's what we believe, in a nutshell, other mormons, my returned missionary husband could probablly explain it better than I, but that's how I think of it.
-
ok so the key words there were " Individuals can then choose to accept or reject what has been done on their behalf." so if one of us is gracious enough to give you the opportunity to accept the Gospel, you still have your free agency and are able to choose if you want to or not and if you do choose to accept it all the proper ordinances have been done for you. Makes complete sense. If someone of another religion wants to baptize me in Proxy then so be it, i don't think any of us would care , since we all have free agency, the right to choose. so if I choose not to become whatever they baptised me for then that baptism was nothing. The people were doing what they felt was right, so i see nothing wrong with that.
-
ok, so i'm mormon, and a lot of what you guys are saying is twisted and wrong. Mormonism is a very family oriented, loving and peaceful religion. Most of the members live a higher standard that most people wouldn't have the willpower to follow. If you guys want to know about baptisms for the dead or in Proxy as they call it you can go to LDS.org and get some accurate info.

bannanie- i've missed you all too on the December bandster thread! i guess it's hard because i haven't lost as fast as I expected. i plateaued for 2 months and just started losing again, 3 lbs in 2 weeks. so when i feel like a loser when i look at all the success you guys are having.
-

-
i have a 1 year old and a 4 year old, my husband took a week off of work. but i still did a lot with the kids. I would say you need at least 3 days with a lot of help. up and down is not good. too painful. and with kids it's constant. i made all the meals and my huband changed the diapers, dressed them ect.

my dr. in Germany does the easy bands and i asked him if it would be a better choice for me and he said he is still in the research phase of it and doesn't know the long term effects of it yet, and with me being only 24 years old he said that he thinks i'm too young to risk possible complications. and if i was his daughter he wouldn't want me to get that one. he siad it's metal i think? and was afraid that after many years with it in it would erode the stomach. i know he's done it on older patients.

many fills but no restriction or solution
sweethot143 replied to Mert's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i have a 10cc band and 2 fills, not sure how much, the dr. said he doesn't know, but i have very little restriction, no weight loss in over 5 weeks. he said you can only have 2 fills a year!! so i am emailing with him now trying to get another one. i'm praying. i didn't spend this much $$ to lose 20lbs. -
i'm glad to hear that not being able to eat bread is a sign of good restriction. i can't do soft breads, but can do toasted rolls or bread. I can also do tortilla in very small bites. I tried a bite of my daughters ramen noodles and oh no cannot do that. but i can do spaghetti. so that's weird. I can also do white rice fine too.
