ousooner (by the way, hi, how you doin'?) I want to let you know that this is not what it seems. Someone started another thread with the same suggestion of blocking/hiding rants and raves, and after a few rounds back and forth, I posted a link to this thread so people could see that the topic had been discussed before. A few more posts have been made to this thread. That's about it. This thread sort of got resurrected by accident. I agree, it would be good to move on. -
Oh, I see. Whenever a relationship does not work out over a five week period, the guy is a "loser." It seems to me a lot of the time people don't want a second date, let alone a five week fling. How long must a guy give a relationship a chance to "grow" before he is no longer a "loser"? I swear, some of the comments on this thread are a bit ridiculous. The fact is, most five week relationships don't work out. This is normal life among adults. There is no basis for the conclusion that someone is a "loser" simply because they did not give it more time to "grow."
-
What happened here is that two adults had a little fling, and one broke up with the other. They had a fling because they both wanted to. It is simply not true that women agree to sex before marriage only because the man makes false promises of true love. That is just ridiculous. News flash: Women like sex. All this guy said is that he broke up because they were not sexually compatible. He never said it was because she was a big woman. This was her conclusion. It might be worth having a look at the actual facts here for a minute or two. There is simply no basis for pounding on this guy for three days about what a jerk he is.
-
I have compassion for want2beme, it's not fun when someone breaks up with you. But reading this thread from a guy's point of view, it seems a little harsh to dump on this guy so viciously because he broke up with her for being "sexually incompatible." Apparently, he never said it was because she was a larger woman. This is the conclusion she reached on her own. And even if he did break up for that reason, after dating for a few weeks does he owe her a lifetime of devotion? Did he use her any more than she used him? So now, after breaking up, this guy is a loser, a jerk, an a** hole, "Shallow Hal," whatever. I know this is a support thread and wan2beme probably feels better hearing what jerk this guy is. I suppose there is no harm in beating him up on this forum. But I have to say, it seems a bit harsh based on the information we have about what happened. I have a news flash for you: Sometimes when people break up, NEITHER PERSON is a jerk!!

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
marjon9 replied to losingjusme's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I, for one, would find it unbearably obnoxious to face a "warning screen" or "pop-up window" EVERY SINGLE BLEEPING TIME I want read a post in Rants and Raves. I also note that Rants and Raves-type comments frequently are found on other types of threads as well. For example, this thread is in "Suggestions, Feedback & Questions." So I don't think a "Warning Page" would solve anything. I find it shocking that people feel that they need protection from a little robust bantering. Frankly, I'm embarrassed for anyone who feels that way. I think you are being ridiculous. Fortunately, when this type of thing has come up before, the owner of this site has had the wisdom to tell people, in essence, to "get over it," and to just ignore anything you are not interested in. I fervently hope he continues with that approach. -

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
marjon9 replied to losingjusme's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
This is the most reasonable and balanced solution I can think of. I think that newbies should be limited to Rants and Raves only for the first six weeks. After that, if they want information about the lap band, they can check with me. -
Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
marjon9 replied to losingjusme's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
In the year that I've been around something close to this point has come up a couple times before. People wanted to hide the Rants & Raves thread so that it would not come up along with the other general "New Posts," and that type of thing. This was all for the purpose of protecting newbies who are coming here for advice and support, and who might be scared off by Rants & Raves. In my view, I believe it is a good thing that this has never been done. I'm generally not in favor of protecting people from something that I think they should not see because it might be too much for them. This feels paternalistic and condescending to me, and I know I never would have wanted that type of protection when I came here as a newbie. So, that's how I see it. I know others have a different view. -
That's what I hear. I'll have to have a look someday. I went to Midland for a job, and when I arrived I was in shock for a while, it was so unappealing. Usually any sort of natural environment is beautiful to me, whether it is desert, mountain, ocean, forest, whatever. But the "natural" environment around Midland is just made up of vast, endless square miles of partched, desolate wasteland with no redeeming features whatsoever. Even if you do drive for half a day to find a puny little stream or lake somewhere, even there there are no trees, the Water is not attractive or refreshing. I'm telling you, Midland is a scary place. There are good people there, like anywhere. But the environment is downright scary.
-
That's not the only thing wrong in ol' Baja Oklahoma. Just kidding!!! I actually lived in Midland for a year, so you can't blame me for attitude about Texas.

What I like is deep fried fryer oil. First you freeze the fryer oil in an ice cube tray. Keep the oil cubes frozen until ready to use, then roll the frozen fryer oil cubes in bread crumbs, and deep fry until golden and toasty. They are really good hot out of the deep fryer and dipped in mayo.
-
Did he like it?
-
That sounds excellent. And then, of course, at Mexican restaurants, you would want refried twinkies.
-
I often eat glazed fried twinkies, a la mode. But since having the band, I chew a lot.

Tishbite, a "nymph" is defined as "a beautiful maiden" A "nympho" is defined as "A female who is affected with nymphomania; a nymphomaniac." They are not the same and I think the name of your group makes perfect sense for the lapband and I like the artwork as well. This thread is a little odd because people are blowing of steam in a way that includes a bit of meanness. Try not to take it personally. It is not meant to be.

A decided, I will do it, However no Insurance
marjon9 replied to Rackel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doc does it for $9950, he's in Denver. See his site in my signature. Quite a few people on this site have used him. A couple threads have info about him. My opinion on telling people is: don't do it right away. Once you tell people you can never un ring the bell. If you want to tell people you can, but no need to rush into it. I've told almost no one and I plan to keep it that way. There are a couple threads on this forum about keeping it a secret - or not. You may want to look for those. There's lots of info here. Try running searches for past discussions, and posting questions for new discussions. Good luck. Mark -
What does "watch your personals" mean?
marjon9 replied to wombat712's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I ran the phrase on Google, "watch your personals." I found one item. A person was giving another person advice on taking a trip to New Orleans, and said: "Stay sober and watch your personals, meaning your purse, wallet, jewelery, etc. ." That phrase makes sense in that context, but I'm not sure how it relates to getting the band. Maybe the idea is you lose weight so things like your pants and wallet and jewelry start falling off? Who knows. -
Im so glad to have found you!! I would love some help
marjon9 replied to fatgirlinNY's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It sounds like you qualify in terms of height/weight. But qualifying for the band often involves more than that, especially when dealing with insurance companies. You may have to show a history of failed weight loss programs, you may need various medical and even psych tests, a sleep apnea test, etc. A lot of things may be required. I have no idea about vytra, but you should be able to ask them or get a benefits book and it will probably be pretty clear what the answer is. If you decide to pay yourself, as many of us have, then the process of qualifying is ordinarily much quicker and simpler. I'm sure you are doing this already, but I would also spend time reading past threads and performing various searches for information on this forum. You'll get a lot of information. Good luck. -
A fish walked into a bar and asked, do you need someone to Tuna piano? The bartender answered "What, I can't hear you, I wear a Herring aid." (fish make me gag)

Who needs the fries? Ketchup, mayo and a spoon works for me. Fewer carbs that way, if you see what I mean.

Help need a good surgeron at good price
marjon9 replied to tracywright37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check out my surgeon. Link to his practice is in my signature. There is also an extensive thread on this site where his patients keep in touch, see "Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum." He charges $9950. Even lower prices can be found with Mexican doctors. Hundreds of people on this site have used Mexican doctors with great results. They usually charge about $8500 last time I checked. You can get a lot of information here on Mexican doctors running searches on this forum. There are a lot of self payers around here. You are not alone in that regard. Good luck.
