I'll apologize in advance. Since a couple days post surgery, whenever I burp, it is absolutely the worst funk you can imagine. I can taste it in my mouth and it permeates my surrounding area. It remains on my breath for 10 minutes or so. Ugh. Is there a reason for this? I've NEVER had this problem before.

I've no idea if this is band related or not, but I've developed a rash post op that I can't explain. Mostly on the underside of my arms and down the sides of my abdomen. It doesn't itch (yet) but sure looks like it ought to. Anyone else experienced this? I'm calling the Doc tomorrow, but was just curious.
-
The Doc's nurse didn't have any definate ideas as to what the rash might be other than perhaps a reaction to the surgical soap. They told me to start taking benedryl every 4 hours and coat the rash with witch hazel and benedryl cream. It's not quite as bad today. Lets see what tomorrow's adventure is!

I stopped the pain meds the day after surgery so I'm doubtful it's that. Who knows... It probably isnt band related at all, but just coincidental that it showed up right after surgery. Hopefully it goes away soon. Like I said, so far, it really doesn't itch.

Do you get a Tube down your throat ?
BumpusTN replied to bethadkins2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont' know if it's surgeon specific or not, but I was given a shot through the IV to put me at ease and then given gas to go to sleep. I was tubed but I only know that because the told me. Don't worry. A little horse for a day and that's it. It never happens while you're awake. I did not have to spend the night. Arrived at admitting at 7:30 AM, asleep by 10:45, awake by noon, out by 1:30. I did lose a little weight under pre-op diet, but I've never heard of a nine month diet pre-op. Trust me, the pre-op diet is a helluva lot tougher than the surgery itself! Don't let your doubts and fears control the fact that you can have a new life. -
How long after or "for how long after"....? I'm 5 days post and shouldhave you an answer by morning. Seriously, as long as you feel good, give it a shot.

Honestly? Your chances of not surviving the car ride to the hospital are better than not surviving the surgery. Anesthessia is the easiest part of the process. IV, Happy Shot, Gas..........You blink and you wake up in recovery. It's all good! -

Shoulder pain was bad again last night, but the afforementioned "softball" is now gone! Feel great today! Worked almost a full day, although didn't do much, had no problem with Protein shakes or Water and just loved a 1/2 cup of tuna salad and so far it is loving me! Yeah, life is good today! No one can believe the change in lifestyle that I've undertaken over the last couple of weeks. They tell me that if it was them, they'd "have" to eat more. I try to explain that its really not up to my "intentions and desires" what I eat, but moreso my new buddy "the band"! Hang in there all! Banded 5/11/10 -

I was banded on Tuesday the 11th. I'm now going on 48 hours without pain meds. Today is the first day that the neck and shoulder pain are not an issue. THAT nearly killed me yesterday and day before, but walking helped it out. My dr had me on fluids Tuesday and Wednesday and let me try soft foods yesterday. I think I overdid it....Eggs went well, as did a very small amount of chicken salad, but chipped up chicken in broth apparently irritated the pouch and caused some swelling. I've felt pretty rough all day today. I went back to fluids only today. Even protien shakes are having a hard time passing through. No real hunger so far though. Can't complain a bit. I'm just still trying to learn what my gut is telling me, literally. -
How can you tell if the pouch is clogged?

I have so many new sensations that I'm having a hard time discerning one feeling from another. I ate some bits of shredded chicken in broth last night (about 1/3 cup) and since then, I feel like I have a softball stuck just below my breastbone. I have reverted back to liquids since then but am concerned that I might have done something wrong. How do you know if your pouch is full and not emptying? I've made up my mind to stay on liquids for the next couple of days, but I'm even concerned about how much liquid I can intake because of the bloating sensation. :w00t: Banded 5/11/10 -
I'm having the same issue. I was banded 5/11 and was told that if I felt up to it I could try some soft "real" food, and I did. Eggs (1) were fine, and even chicken salad (1/2 cup), but a bit of shredded chicken last night has left me with the feeling of a softball right below my breast bone. Walking seems to help. Nothing but liquids today. Hope it passes pretty quick.
