Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
Rosie Cheeks replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi everyone, Seems ages since I have been on but still keeping an eye on how everyone is getting on. Like Daisy I was banded on 2nd Nov and I have lost over 3st - approx 47lbs so pleased with how things are going - really starting to notice it in my clothes and people starting to notice also - nice - but long way to go. Slinky - As far as I remember, dublin fills are 120e but the last time I paid sterling - he calculated out the exchange rate and it was £100 - he didnt mind at all. If possible, nearly as well take take the euro out of the ATM. thankfully I have had no problems as such - weight loss was slow at the start due to the length of time we had to wait for our first fill but has been small but steady since. On a steep learning curve but couldnt imagine myself without it. Good luck to all, RC xx -

Hi Slinx - I was wondering after you left if that was you...I heard the accent and my head was doing overtime but it was very busy at that particular time - we will meet yet lol. As you said Chris Duprez is really nice and friendly and he really does make it painless in every way. We now have 5 ml in our bands and I am def feeling restriction this time - takes a bit of getting uses to after it being slack for so long. So hopefully the weight will begin to shift. Keep me posted as to how you are getting on...good lucj -

Hi Slinky, Sorry havent been on in a few days. Getting on well so far, think I have nearly 20 pounds off or thereabouts - because we didnt get our first fill I am eating more than I would like too!! E-mailed Fred after our fiasco to Dublin and havent heard a word back from him - have to say Im pretty peeved - thats well over 3 weeks ago and want to get a fill asap. Had a great Christmas though but now really just want restriction and to get the scales moving again. How you getting on?? well done on the weightloss..moving down well Chat soon, RC -

Hi everyone, Sorry i havent been on for so long...between my computer crashing and not being able to find the site again but spent the last few hours reading through the posts. Freckles, sorry to hear about your mum, I hope everything works out okay. How is your daughter getting on, I know she was banded the week before me. Slinky, well done with the weightloss, I see the ticker moving.. Claire - a real inspiration to us all and I know you'll have no problem with the next 50 To everyone else that has just been banded or going to be banded, good luck with the journey - no regrets. I am getting on well so far. Banded a month ago and have 16lbs off (going to try to sort a ticker out) but I have to say that most of that was in the first two weeks. Daisy and I were booked in for a fill in Dublin on thursday past as they werent doing Belfast in December. We took the day off work, travelled the whole way down, to arrive at our location (wet and cold from all the snow - Dublin was chaos) to find out Freddy had cancelled the clinic due to bad weather and hadnt let us know - not impressed. Sent him an e-mail and waiting on a reply though to be fair, they are usually very much on the ball. The only thing is now not getting our first fill to January and really wanted a push start. Slinky - do you go to Belfast for your fills?? Still very much on a learning curve regarding the band - somethings so down easily enough, others (chicken etc) often get stuck. Though what goes down some days struggles the next. I hope everyone is well. Best wishes, RC -

Hi everyone, Just thought I would pop in to let you all know that Daisy and I have just arrived on home soil. Everything went according to plan we were told and just really greatful to everyone for all their wonderful advice before we went - it really mad eit so much easier. for anyone thinking about going for it - would highly recommend Dr Chris and his fantastic team - nothing a bother. Daisy and I along with my sister arrived at the hotel on monday pm and on arrival we met a few others soon to be bandsters so we had a good chat with them. They have never been on the forum but we gave them the forum details and hope that they will pop in - they were all super. One of the ladies partner who was with her had lost 70kg 2 years after being banded with Chris and is still losing - a good inspiration to get us started. Chris DePrez came to talk to us all that evening (6 of us in total) and explained what was going to happen the next day. Everything went as planned - Daisy and I were down early in the morning - my op about 10.30 and back on ward for about 1.30 (approx). Apart from a very dry mouth and throat which I believe is due to the anthesthetic, and being a bit sore around the drain, we both had a comfortable night (as did our new friends). Yesterday then we got our drains taken out and x-rayed (after drinking the barium meal - gladly no side effects!) and after a chat with Dr Chris and frederik  again we were discharged around lunchtime (only after our soup and crackers though). Frederik called over to the hotel last night and done a quick check on us and was happy with us. So far we have had a good experience - the staff we found very helpful and obliging with the pain relief. Wound is still a bit sore but no more than to be expected. It is easing daily and we had a relatively comfortable journey home. I suppose now the journey really begins - we will be relying on all you to keep us right. Anyone thinking about it - please ask questions. Slinky - sorry to hear about your bereavement. Freckles - glad all went well with your daughter. Away to bed for an hours rest, chat soon xx -

Hi everyone, I have been lurking around this forum for ages now but never really plucked up the courage to post. Anyway, I am someone who has been thinking about this for quite a while ...met Fred last year but chickened out. Anyway, after a lot of soul searching have decided to go for it - your stories have been so inspiring and I think you are all a credit. I have one question - if i arrive in belgium on a mon, have op tues, released weds - can i go home thurs. i know chris or fred come to see you in the hotel to see you but is it thurs am - just trying to organise flights and need to sort timings. would be great if someone could advise... Good luck everyone and love to all....Rosie x:redface:
