Finally banded yesterday
mickeybeyes replied to dani_nyc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations!! I was banded Wednesday January 30th (so about a week and 3 days ago). I feel MUCH better. For me it was day 4 when things started to feel a bit better and each day since gets even better. I am on mushies now which are awesome and not felling hungry yet. 18 pounds down!! Good luck!! -
Social Stigma and Full Disclosure
mickeybeyes replied to Mellzbellz21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too feel like people who don't know about it think its the "easy" way out. On the contrary, it is a lifelong commitment and a HUGE step towards a healthy life. It is not easy. I was so upset with my husband for telling his family. They are so judgmental and feel they know everything about everything. No matter what my progress is they will always say "well she didn't do it on her own". I think its my story to tell when I am good and ready. You tell your story when and to whom YOU choose! Good luck on your incredible journey! :-) -
Awesome job!!

Newly Post Ops & Doubts
mickeybeyes replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ABSOLUTELY!! I asked the same thing after my surgery on January 30th. Day 4 was my turn around day when I started to feel better about it. On day 2 I even told my husband "if I had it to do all over again, I would NEVER have done this!". I am sooo happy that going back in time is not a possibility....lol! I am down 18 pounds and feel great!! Hang in there. It DOES get better....I promise!! -
I felt the exact same way the night before. I suffer from panic attacks anyway so I was so worried I would have one, but they give you meds that work wonders. The 2 or 3 days after I had questioned my decision also.......could I have just tried ONE more thing to lose weight, was surgery really the way to go, what was i thinking....day 4 I felt much better and I again had my eye on the prize. I know why I did this and I am worth it. You ARE worth it, you WILL get through it, and things will only get better from here. I wish you the best of luck!

MONSTER hiatal hernia
mickeybeyes replied to ATXVeg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one too without knowing. Doc fixed it so hopefully that is that. Don't know where it came from, but I have given birth to 4 children and I am always lifting heavy things so who knows. Just glad its fixed. :-) -
After my son was born I went on the pill and didn't have a period for 3 years. I still bloated, got emotional, and everything else that goes along with a period. I just told myself "it could be worse"! Good luck!

I was banded on January 30th and have been on clear then full liquids. Dr. Says I can move to mushies if I am hungry, but I haven't been so I am staying where I am for now. So today I was making tomato soup for my son and decided to have some.....oh my goodness....it was heavenly!! I never noticed how good it was before. Things seem to have more flavor now. My mouth was literally watering between tiny sips!! :-)

Pre-Operation
mickeybeyes replied to Liana Washburn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. Things are going well so far (about 15 pounds down since pre op diet). I just started by attending a seminar, calling my insurance company, and contacting the surgeon. I was clueless, but the surgeons office was great in guiding me. They told me exactly what to do and when. They even made appointments for me (and there were a bunch)! I had to see a phsycologist once, a pulmonologist and do a sleep study (ended up having severe sleep apnea), lots of blood work, cardiologist for stress test and EKG, and of course a nutritionist each month. I tell everyone if it ends in "ist" I have been there....lol! It seems like a bunch, but it went by quick and was worth it. I also read a lot about the surgery. I was 100% sure this is what I wanted (until pre op jitters). Of course I questioned it right before and right after surgery, but that passed. I wish you the best of luck!! :-) -
Pre-Operation
mickeybeyes replied to Liana Washburn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Find out your insurance companies requirements....unless you are self pay. Mine required 6 months of nutritionist. Good luck!! -
I felt the same way in the beginning, but I just started interacting here on the forums and feel very differently now. I was banded on January 30 ( less than a week ago) and the few days before and after were very hard for me emotionally. I felt alone, scared, and I don't know anyone personally who has been through this that I could call. Each time I felt that way I logged on here and left feeling better. Everyone here is so supportive and helpful. I feel like I am part of a little community or secret club...lol! Just keep posting and reading and I am sure you will find great comfort here. Feel free to add me as a friend. I am on here quite often and love to talk. Good luck on your journey!
