    Post-op

No the surgery wasnt bad, I was up and walking within a couple of hours after my surgery, in surgery at 10 am or so and out by 11 in recovery for an hour then up to my room had an overnight stay as i had to do a barium swallow the next morning (yuck) I actually had no gas pains whatsoever, the only thing that bothers me is my port incision is very tender the rest dont hurt at all, I still cannot sleep in a bed because I am not a back sleeper and when I try sleeping on my side it pulls , so I am sleeping in a recliner

    August 2011 Bandsters????

I am 5 days post op, and I feel good just a little sore at incision sites, but nothing too bad, haven't had any gas pains just always feeling like I have a burp stuck in the esophagus, I was up and walking within a couple hours after my surgery, surgery was at 10 am and by 1pm I was walking the halls, the next day I even pulled off a shopping trip for about an hour and a half... yeah me, so far only trouble I am having is sleeping on my side I just cannot seem to do it it pulls and tugs on my port incision, so until i am able to tolerate sleeping on my side again its a recliner for me, hope everyone who is getting ready to or has been banded , has little to no effects

    August Bandsters????

Glad to see other August Banders posting on here, I am starting my second week of a 1200 cal diet for my pre op, gonna do a week of nothing but my shakes and see if I cant drop a little more. I am being banded August 1st could have had it done last week but opted to start out at the beginning of the month, as I have a wedding and reception to go the 30th of July. This past week has been a wave of emotions, but surprisingly I have yet to get nervous probably the day I go in I will be a bundle of nerves
  18. In fact in 2 weeks and 1 day...lol yes I am on a count down I will go in for my surgery to begin my new life WHOO - HOO, though I am not actually having the Lap-Band I have opted for the Realize band, as my surgeon says he has had less problems with this one. I start my pre op diet Monday, and was told I need to lose at least 15 lbs...I can do this...I can do this..I am going to do this

    August Bandsters????

My surgery is the first of August also, The nerves haven't kicked in , just totally excited, I looked into this for a full year before I committed. Now I am ready to start my new life, I know this is a ways down the line but I cant wait till I can shop in the normal stores for clothing instead of "specialty stores"...I have my eyes on the prize, but that is just my way of thinking of this. Everyone goes thru a wave of emotions when it comes to change, we as humans don't like change

  23. Has anyone had a sleep study done and find out they have apnea, and required to have a cpap machine but not actually use it, I had my sleep study last week and it drove me crazy to wear that , I felt like I was suffocating to have it force air into me, so I was thinking if it has a timer or something on it to make sure it was on whats to stop anyone from just turning it on and letting it run but not wearing it?
  24. LostInSideMyself

Anyone have apnea and not use their cpap machine

Well I just got the notification that I will have to have one and I will have to be totally honest, Ive already told my Dr that if I am required to have one that it dont mean that I will use it. I just cant stand to have anything blowing in my face or up my nose, I hate that feeling that I am suffocating, and cannot catch my breath, I cant even have a fan blowing in my face, it throws me right into a panic attack, so if I am required to have one so be it but it will probably never be used

    New Insurance Question

I also have BCBS(IL), as far as I know they have no policy as far as that but each policy is different for each place, your best bet would be to wait till you get it and then call them up and ask, I very much doubt they would have a Pre-existing condition clause as far as Bariatric, but again the best thing to do is to ask them when you are enrolled, they are the best judge of things in reguards to your particular policy, Good Luck
