So I'm feeling rather discouraged. I think this website might be part of the problem... I was banded 6/10/10. I've had 2 fills for a total of 5cc. When I went to get my last fill they found my port had flipped. Had to have port revision surgery last Thursday. Evidently the doctor thinks I was too aggressive on the abdominal exercises and that is why my stitches popped. I have only lost 22 pounds so far, have only mild restriction, and just feel like a failure because there are a lot of ppl on this site that have lost like 40 pounds by now... I eat much less than I used to work out more than I ever have in my life and the scale just won't budge. I go for my next fill on Monday. I think I may have even gained a pound since the last appt. I feel like I will NEVER EVER be thin!!!:blushing:

Thank you so much everyone for your encouraging words!! I've been feeling a bit better today and reading all of your posts made my heart warm and has lifted my spirits!! I just have to remember one day at a time. I know I have a tendency to be VERY hard on myself and that is something else that I have to work on changing. PMS doesn't help either!! lol THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE! MWAH!!

This is the second time I am typing this cuz I lost the first one... So I started my high protein low carb diet last week Thurs. I had been doing great but noticed that every day that went on I began to feel worse and worse at my stomach. Yesterday I broke down and ate some watermelon and green beans cuz I hadn't pooped in 3 days. It worked Today I was unable to eat. My stomach was nauseated and churning all day. I choked down 4 pieces of lunch meat and 2 pieces of cheese but was miserable. My mom finally talked me in to eating something different since I couldn't imagine eating any of the meats, cheeses, etc. Just thinking about it made me nauseated. I ate a small bowl of watermelon which lead to 5 whole wheat crackers with yogurt spinach dip and 4 bites of ice cream. It was all amazing!!!! I felt so much better after that too. Before I didn't even want to drink anything. My next rant is I finally told some ppl at work about the surgery. One of the older men I work with who is one of those "I know everything, I am perfect, everyone do as I say" immediately wanted to start quizzing me on my diet and exercise history along with pro's and con's of the surgery. I wanted to RIP HIS HEAD OFF!! I just told him that I wasn't going to talk to him about it, it was none of his business, I had made up my mind, and that it was reasons just as this that I hadn't told anyone. That shut him up! I think it also hurt his feelings but oh well! I just so worry that I will be a failure. That I just don't have the willpower. I talked to my surgeon about this and he reassured me I would be fine as long as I came in to see him for my fills. I'm sure other ppl have felt this way but you always feel like you are the only one. On a good note I have lost 6 pounds and definitely some inches. I can now pull buttoned shorts down completely that used to be tight. Surgery is June 10th! I'm actually looking forward to the day before and the clear liquids so that I can have jello and popsicles!!!

duncansmom replied to karens2cats's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in the whole being scared area. I'm having surgery on the 10th and am also having the same feelings/thoughts/worries that you are but I guess the only true way to know if we can do it or not is to just try. Really, what do we have to lose? other than weight of course.... -
Lost Morivation! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
duncansmom replied to mila86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have the band yet but my cousin does and she said that for a long time she hit a plateau in her weight where she didn't lose or gain really. She said that she was really okay with this because she had come sooo far already. She did end up losing again and is still losing to this day. She has had the band three years and is currently a size 8. She said that her body just had to catch up with itself and all the changes. Eventhough I can't speak from experience I think you should each be proud of how far you have come thus far and don't lose hope b/c tomorrow is another day to start anew. Have you talked with your surgeons to see if you need a fill? -
That's right... I gained 8 pound since my visit to see the surgeon initially on the 11th!! I had my exercise and nutrition classes today and while I was there I was able to do my pre-op with the surgeon today. He wants me to start the diet tomorrow so it looks like I will be having surgery on the 10th or 11th of June. SOO I had a huge pantry cleaning and shopping spree today. I did great at the store picking out high protein low carb foods. This part of the pre-op diet won't be so rough but I dread the clear liquids day! I've been looking into gym memberships and I think I might do 24 hour fitness. I would kinda like to do Premier Lady Fitness but it is by contract...yuck. I just think that I would feel more comfortable and more likely to actually go if there were all women there. I wanna do water aerobics and the Zumba classes Eventually I wanna start taking salsa classes also. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be getting the LapBand AP standard. I was excited to hear that I only have to wait 5 weeks before my first fill and that he will give me anywhere from 4-6 cc on the first fill. The 2nd and 3rd are 1-1.5cc and then 0.4-0.5 thereafter. This has been a pretty exciting day overall. I just started seeing a guy that I used to go to high school with and I told him about the surgery. Kinda embarassing but he was very supportive. Well, I better get to bed so I can start my pre-op diet in the morning. Night all!!

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss and that the Lord will always be with you in your time of need. My thoughts are with you and your family. One of my favorite sayings is "The Will of God will not take you to where the Grace of God will not protect you."

It is so comforting to know that other people have had the same experience!! I'm so glad that I have found this website but I have seen that some people on here can be somewhat negative and judgemental. I hope that we June Bandsters can stick together and support each other in the ups and downs of this journey. No one is perfect and no one on this website got this way by making all of the healthiest choices... I wish both of you luck in your surgeries and I hope that I get to know you each much better over the coming months and years. Take care and God bless! -
High protein HELL!!
duncansmom replied to duncansmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much to both of you for your support!! My surgery date is just 5 days away and I still won't let myself believe that it is true. During the high protein diet I actually got to the point where it was effecting my driving (almost ran into a guard rail more than once) and I was having trouble thinking straight and talking. This is a problem since I am a nurse and deal with people's lives.... I was instructed (after being seen in urgent care) by the more than one of the doctors that I work with that I should go off the high protein diet and start a healthy balanced sensible diet. It appeared that I was going into metabolic ketoacidosis which can kill you if you aren't careful. Since much of the weight lost during these diets is water weight I am somewhat scared that now that I'm eating again I will regain the weight but as my family and co-workers say, it's just not worth killing myself over a 2 week diet. By the way, if you have a negative comment to make about me not staying on the high protein diet please keep it to yourself. Save the drama fo' yo' momma! -

I'm sorry that you guys gained weight also but I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. I'm also glad that we have each other to help out during this journey. We can be strong for each other. I hope you are both doing well and good luck with your surgeries. It seems like it will never happen but I guess it is just really right around the corner... -

what do you recommend to "eat" after surgery?
duncansmom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just get peoples opinions on the types of protein shakes you like, how you blend it to make it taste best, tips on recipes for "mushies" etc. At some point I will also be looking for recipes (regular foods) that are lapband friendly and tasty also so feel free to drop those in too if you have found something. -

Any June Bandsters???
duncansmom replied to candy rain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm being banded about June 16th. I should know the date for sure by the end of this week. I'm so excited but also very scared. I'm afraid I will be the a freak anomoly that will actually gain weight. I don't really think it has totally set in that it is actually gonna happen after all this time. I haven't really told anyone about it just in case. I'm so obsessed with this site right now. I spend hours on it every day. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Well, I wish everyone lots of luck and looking forward to making this journey with the June banders. -
Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor June Bandsters?
duncansmom replied to JazzyRayne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm gonna be banded about the 16th of June... Can't wait!!!! -
I found out yesterday I was approved for my surgery. I have my nutrition and exercise classes Wed the 26th and pre-op appt with the surgeon the 28th of May. I have a 2 week pre-op diet that will be similar to the Atkins diet. I have enjoyed and learned so much from reading the posts on this site. I'm kinda addicted to it actually.... It's nice to see that other ppl have the same feelings and concerns that I do. I look forward to having such a great site to use while going through this process. Right now I'm scared although I don't really think it has totally set in yet. I worry about the pain, if I will be a failure, bandster hell, and never being able to eat again. I know that is being a little dramatic but it seems that this is a normal feeling. This site while sometimes brings angst is also a great motivator. I can't wait to start taking salsa dance classes once I'm feeling a little better from not carrying all this extra weight around. I will keep everyone posted on my surgery process and look forward to meeting ppl who will be starting this journey with me. I wish everyone luck and skinny asses :cursing: Feel free to drop me a line if you wanna...
