Band sizes, whats the difference?
DiValencia replied to Trinity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This answered a lot for me. I've written in the past couple of weeks that I too have a 14cc band and have had no restriction and I am my 3rd fill in at 9cc's and nothing yet. But I am still losing inches and a few pounds at a time. I was banded on July 14th and I measure the success by the way I feel and am able to move and my clothes. -
food questions

Hey Sistah Gyrl, WE share the same band date and unlike you I have not reched any restriction or had any of these issues. Sorry you are uncomfortable. I had my 3rd fill on Tuesday with 9cc's in a 14cc band and nothing doing. Hoping for the next time. Hang in there and be careful.:blushing: -
3rd fill - very disappointing
DiValencia replied to 2beskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hunny Bunny, along with all the others let me assure you that "nice and easy"! This is just a test of our patience and committment to this journey. If it was a race we'd all be skinny faster that we knew it. That's why this is a Journey and they usually take you through "peaks and valleys" and many of us responding (including myself) are in the Valley right now. I was banded July 14th and had my 3rd fill on Tuesday last week and forgot that I was to be on shakes for a couple of days and ate an hour and a half later:scared2: and guess what???ZOP NADA...no restriction or tightness at all...it went down easy breezy. I was so scared when later that evening I realized that I had eaten. Crazy Right???:smile2: Anyway sweety I have 9cc's in a 14cc band and nothing. Keep in mind inches are falling off not so much weight and I feel so so good compared to being in pain walking and not sleeping comfortably.:blushing: So measure your success by other things rather than just the lbs which I think we all get really caught up on. Think too 30- 40lbs every three months will be over a hundred in just one year. You go girl and everyone else we are Phenominal men and women. Fist pump in the air for us!!! Divalencia:lol: -
Do you have a 14 cc band?
DiValencia replied to Sheer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I must be abnormal because I am at 9cc and right after my 3rd fill and totally forgot that I wasn't suppossed to eat and had salmon and veggies for lunch less than an hour and a half after and I felt absolutely no restriction at all. I'm a little discouraged but just going to stay the course and hope for the next time. -
[Yikes I'm an idiot for sure=DiValencia;1544784]With all that has been said thus far can anyone answer this for me. I had my third fill Tuesday of this week. Took 10mins to find port (crazy right) Anyway I am up to 9cc's in 14cc Band. Check this out I left the office and went into this little quaint Villiage Port Jeff Station in Long Island and luxuriated in it's beuaty and...Big Sigh!!!! I sat down and had a lovely lunch of grilled Teriyaki Salmon 1/2 baked potatoe and veg medley. I know how crazy is that....The birdbrain that I am forgot that I wasn't supposed to eat for a few days and just drink my shakes. However, suprisingly enough I didn't realize it until later that evening when I was wondering what I was going to eat for dinner and getting out of my car I pick up my doggie bag. It was less than an hour and 1/2 that I ate and I had absolutely no restriction at all. Is this Bandster Hell as it's called I am just so beside myself.:sleep:

Ahhh the Bliss of being in the Land of the banded. Heyyyy! Mornin' Yawnin'! ALL DONE YAAAY!!! Everything went pretty well yesterday. We got to hospital early at around 10:45 they took me right away and got started with all the preliminary questionings to make sure chart information was correct. I was shocked to find that they had me listed as a Diabetic and required an Accucheck reading on me even though I protested that I wasn't they said that my Pre Surgical Testing determined that I was so borderline to treat me as though I was. The worst part actually only real bad part is that they couldn't find a vein for IV administration, they had to try 4 times before they finally got it!!! Yikes that got me really frustrated! Oh yeah and the fact that I had to wait from 11am until 3pm to be finally sent down to the operating room, and yall know me and my short patience. Thankfully my girls were with me and kept me entertained. We laughed the whole time. Then when finally my time came and I was being wheeled into the surgical unit I met all the surgical staff and everyone there were really really nice, then Doc Brathwaite came in I joked around with him a little asking if he had eaten lunch and he said NO but he'd be alright and I told him we bought him a Subway Sandwich FOOTLONG and to take a few bites... he laughed and said he was VEGAN! lol. Best part...when they were finally rolling me into Operating Room they were playing Alicia Keys song that is my favorite "If you ask me I'm Ready" I almost started crying..Happy Tears and was telling the girls wheeeling me down how this song was like my Anthem in this whole process, so the one girl was like we will play it for you in the OR and I was cool. (Side note - my niece Jasmine just put the music channel on and its playing now) lol. Anyway I really wasn't expecting them to do it but sure enough when they put my anesthesia gas mask on the song was playing and I was clicking my fingers to it and then I was in recovery. When I woke up in recovery clock said 5pm couldn't talk for a while, words were in my head to say something but all I could do was nod when asked a question. They told me everything went well and I would be in the Step Up Stage shortly which included walking and drinking 30cc's of Water. At 5:15 I was able to talk and asked if I could walk and they told me I need to be out of anesthesia at least an hour and I still told them I was ready and they let me walk at 5:30. I walked so far with the aid my recovery nurse came looking for us. lol. Drank some water, that was really weird felt like I ate a full course meal and hurt a bit going down. I finally was sent to the ambulatory surgical unit at 6pm for my step down to be released. There I walked quite a bit down there. I was reunited with my girls and they met me down there with my clothes and I was out of there by 7pmish and home at 8pm. Couldn't sleep and stayed up until 12:45am. I walked every commercial and my niece has been excellent rubbing and patting my back for the gas to come up, which hasn't happened yet axiously waiting for the first release which is said to be glorious! So there you have it! Took a percocet and slept sitting up pretty compfortable and am up and ready to go for a walk up the block but my friend that is an RN said to take it easy today and just walk around the house as I have been doing. Love you guys and ttyl Diva.

Mornin' Yawnin' fellow bandsters:drool:. The "training wheels" come off today and I will enter the Land of the Banded!!! Surgery time today scheduled for 12 o'clock and it couldn't be a day, hour, minute sooner. I am sooooo ready! No nerves yet, no emotions yet but will expect them a bit later at the hospital. I told everybody that would listen that I was being banded so that I could weed out any and all Naysayers:cursing: early on in this journey. I told everyone so that when they saw the weight coming off and possibly would have "heard what I did", I didn't have to deal with hearing their uneducated ignorant comments later on. So I've already handled everyone and any one early on in this process and have shut them down so as not to have to hear a word of discouragement from them:angry:. So to any and all that are going in today or this week I wish you the best recovery and thanks to everyone that I have "read" up until this point and been so encouraged by your thoughts and input. So yeah "Let's get this part started".:eek: Smoothes Gracias!

Gret for you! Let me know how it goes I'm right behind you a week later on the 14th. How long was it for the presurgical testing and class? Diva

Hey Lady, Welcome and don't get spooked it's always good to be informed. The reason for my IV filter is tht my BMI is off the charts and I'm very short a well so to be cautious it was explained to me to be preventative it was a good idea to have this put in. It will be removed in three months and I won't even know it is there. It's like and umbrella that catches any closts that may travel to my legs and disolves them and allows the blood flow to proceed naturally. You'll do fine the countadown in on!! Yaay!
-
WuZuuup!!! Everybody is making fine progress tick tock tick tock!!! Very exciting indeed. I have awhirlwind week ahead. Two PreSurgicalTesting in the same day. I have to have an additional procedure on the 8th for an IV Filter to be put in my groin to prevent blood clotting possibilities. I will be under anesthesia the thing takes about 15mins the doctor said but I told him not take his time and give it 20mins. lol. I was so not even joking with him. Anyway, I'm on the second week of my liquid diet and I had a couple of slip ups nothing major and for the most part decent food choices with the exception of some fries from my niece. So far my Surgeons office and staff have been incredible all of my presurgey experience has been white glove and very encouraging. I just can't wait to get this party started. Do you guys live alone or with family. I live alone so plastered all over my place are visuals to encourage me and remind me of the new life we are embarking upon. Guess what I did? I went and viewed the surgery on youtube! Not sure you can handle it but I thought it was absolutely awesome. No fears just anxious to Geter' Done! Laters' Peop's the countdown is on!!! DiVA
