Laura - that sounds funny-------> how did you get a "fill" the first time if you "got nothing"? just curious. best wishes on your journey.....:sigh: re: "ljmarti6;1479190]My first fill I got nothing, on my second fill I had 2 cc's. It does seem like a lot however, with that said, everyone is different. I have heard of some having way too much and having to have it backed off. Hope he is well."

J_BandRanger replied to monkeymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my fills are first thing in the morning. i cant hv anything to eat or drink after midnight the day before.... you might want to call your doc and ask... -
i dont even get to eat at all on the day of my fill!!! :'(
-
yup! never thought I'd be so happy to see "mush" in my life! that clear liquid stage is TORTURE!!!!
-
my first fill was 3.25 and i felt nothing. my 2nd fill (3 weeks later) was 5cc-but my doc says that was a recordfor him! i'm at 8.25 now. just started my "mushies" today and i feel fine. no problems....
-

When can you eat regular food after fill?
J_BandRanger replied to Itsforlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i just posted about this today!! every doctor seems different!! after my fills, I have to do clear liquids 3 days, then stage I (straw diet) for a WEEK! stage II (mushie diet) for another WEEK! then stage III ("advanced mushies") for another week!! then introduce "normal food"/stage 4 the week after that!!! so basically, each fill takes a month out of my life!!! :waytogo: I'm "suspicious" too! I think my doctor is on the extreme side and he's just "tricking" me into staying on a strict diet to help me loose weight. ... I think basically, you should do what ever YOUR doctor tells you to do -
Are protein shakes considered a meal?
J_BandRanger replied to criveraarroyo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, i count my shakes as a meal - especially b/c of the calorie count. I also blend in 4-5 ice cubes, a small yogurt and some times a banana. then i pour it into my tallest reusable coffe mug w/lid from DDs and leave it in the freezer until i'm walking out the door. That way, i can drink it "like coffee" in the morning...in the car or at my desk at work. Works like a charm!! -
technically, i believe you would have to pay the difference... BUT a lot of times doctor will charge "a lot" but iin the end, accept what ever the insurance company's max is and NOT charge you the difference. .... *This is just my observation. Not trying to be an insurance expert (i saw where another member "blasted" someone for giving "insurance advise". so, i thought i'd throw in that disclaimer
-
i disliked the psych eval the worse of all my pre-approval requirements. my psych turned out to be "shady" i only went to him once but he billed my insurance company for several visits, plus collected a co-pay from me! I happened to notice it and told on him! he had to send the $$ back!!! i'll bet your psych just wants you to come in so he/she can charge for another visit!!! as long as you have realistic expectations of the surgery, then you're fine! dont worry
-
you can do this! you're on your way!!! [bTW-the pictures always shocked me too!]
-
how can it be that "the rules" are SO SO different from Dr. to Dr.??? i can't have creamed soup but somebody else can....one Dr says "ok" to soda, gum, and fruit juice but another says "no way!" How can it be that there is no consisteney or regulations?

What is the MEDICAL/SCIENTIFIC reason for the food progression after each fill?
J_BandRanger posted a blog entry in Blog 92116
I am not doubting that I should follow the doctor's orders...Ive just always been the kind of person who wants to know "WHY?" After each fill, I have to do 3 days of clear liquids, followed by a week of stage I, then a week of stage II, then a week of stage III!!! this is the part that I absolutely H#TE the most about my whole L'band experience!! starting over each time w/the liquids etc, takes 3-4weeks out of my life and it takes that long for me to even see if the fill even worked. Then I read some posts that say they stopped for a shake or even food on the way home from their fill!!! (no "fair" for me!! ha! ha! :mad2:) I follow MY Doc's rules b/c I'm committed to this but I think that if I knew WHY the food progression, I would maybe "h#te" it a little less ....so can anyone tell me the MEDICAL and/or SCIENTIFIC reason for the food progression after each fill?? I mean medically speaking not just "b/c my Doc said so"...WHY did he say so??:frown: -
