Audree, you probably do have a mushy stage...that really sounds ridiculous:rolleyes You should have some kind of practice chewing your food properly or else you could possibly get stuck when you start eating regular food. Definitely call your doc to make sure. I say do what you feel you can handle (mushies of course). If you chew your food well, stop when you are satisfied, and following the rules of protien first etc. you will do fine. I use the unjury protien powder I like the chocolate and vanilla the best. I mix it with Silk soy milk and it is DEEElicious! I just recently tried the Pure Protien in the can it tasted like pure poison:sick Yuck! I sent you an add request on myspace so look for me.

As long as I am not too full when I get there...I ate at 7:30 this morning and the appointment was at 10:00 so it had been a few hours, I ate lunch around 12:30. I have been doing my cheesy eggs after a fill b/c it's soft. They do advise mushies but anything chewed properly can be considered mushy. I haven't had any problems pb-ing or getting stuck so I think I am chewing my food pretty well.

I got a third fill today down 4 lbs from the last time. Had a half of a Jimmy Dean cheese omelet before and burger patty with cheez and mushrooms for lunch and I am very satisfied. I ordered a side salad with it but I can't even eat it...maybe later!
-
I don't want to be a bad influence but I ate cheesy scrambled eggs with american cheese on the 3rd evening after surgery. They were soft and GOOOD! I had no problem with it. I think you should do what your body tells you...if you can stand it without a problem then you should be able to progress. Unless there is another reason you'd want to drink broth for weeks. I fell off of that wagon early on.

If you have one or more co-morbidities they should let you get the surgery based on medical necessity once your bmi is between 35-40. Check into it.

I inquired about this same pain at my doctors office and they said that was the side a lot of the work was performed on, so it will be sore. I still have the pain 2 mos later just not as noticable. I did think it was weird b/c it is below the scars.

I'm definitely in!
-
I still take a half a pill of my adipex because I don't think I have the amount of restriction that I need yet. I've had one fill and I am not gaining or losing.
-
You sound almost exactly like me! You have lost alot more than I have though...it's been pretty ridiculous for me since the first fill. Hopefully the second one will do the trick.
-
I am not sure if you should be taking cod liver oil pills so close to surgery. Check with your doctor on that. I know you have to stop taking Vitamin E but make sure...it's very important!!!
-
Thank goodness my insurance paid w/o me being at a 40 BMI, but I had at least one co-morbidity which was borderline hypertension that allowed me to be approved.
-
My BMI was 37 and I have lost approximately 8lbs since being banded 10/31/06. I will be going for another fill on 12/28 so I am crossing my fingers that this one will do the trick so I can see some significant weight loss.
-
Wow...well it doesn't sound like you are cutting carbs and you are losing because of the portion sizes. I can still eat a whole slice of NY style pizza and then some salad etc. I am not gaining so I guess thats good I am just flip flopping 3lbs around from the a.m. to p.m. but basically staying the same. The day of surgery I was 218, since then, my lowest was 212.4 and highest 215 depending on the time of day. I am going for my second fill on 12/28 so I am hoping for some dramatic results this time around.:bored

Just made an appointment for my second fill on 12/28 hope this one does the trick. Still on my plateu of 8lbs.

I can eat pretty much whatever I want just about half of what I used to. I also stay full much longer... I try to do it the way they say protien first, then vege's, then starch. I think one of my main things that I have to get over is drinking while I am eating. I am only sipping but it's a really hard habit to break.:help:
-
I was banded on the 31st too and I have only lost 8lbs. I have NSV's like my clothes fitting better and not having to pick what I am wearing based on if it will be too tight or uncomfortable today. I had my first fill on 11/29/06 4 weeks post-op. I feel some restriction but I can still eat whatever I want just not too much. What is your diet like? Maybe I need to try some new foods. The fill was painless so don't worry about that. I couldn't wait but now I can't wait for another one...
-
Yes I think you're right I am feeling a little bit of restriction this morning.
-
:hungry: I don't feel any more restriction than I did this morning before my fill.
-
All I can say is: Nasty!

I have been teeter tottering the big girl stores and the "normal" stores getting stuck in between for a while now. I can't wait to shop @ 5-7-9 again!

What do you say when you get THAT question??
toqu replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just say low carb, high protein, lots of water etc. I didn't want any negativity before the surgery so I didn't tell anyone that I knew didn't agree with it. People are nosey they want to know but I'm not telling. I will tell people who I think it will help. -
Whew! for a minute there I thought it was just me! My doctor has drained it twice already and it is on it's way back again. It gives me some relief for a couple of days but then it comes back. I just hate to walk around with what looks like a small fist sticking out of my stomach.:faint:

2 Weeks after surgery, need advice!
toqu replied to LDM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They should have given you something for the nausea. My doctor gave me suppositories and told me to avoid vomiting at all costs b/c of the risk of slippage. I don't think they should be ignoring your problem. Sometimes you have to make them do something cause no ones health is at risk but yours. Hope you feel better soon. -
I am having pain in the lower left side too. I was thinking some kind of bladder infection because of the catheder they used during surgery. Only thing my port is on the right. First I thought it was my ovary too so I have an appt. on Wed. coming up but I may have to go in before that if this pain persists just to see if there is any reason that there would be pain there.
