i am a 55 year old female who has struggled with weight issues my entire life. i would like to lose 100 lbs and while that won't make me skinny, it will make me much more healthy. i've been married for almost 31 years and have 2 wonderful children. no one in my immediate family has ever told me to lose weight. they love me and support me no matter what i look like. this decision to get banded is totally mine and as i've said, my family supports me. their only worry is that something might happen to me during surgery or that i'll have complications after. they know i can lose weight -- i've done it over and over again. it's the maintaining that's the problem. will weight loss surgery make me happier? only when it comes to my appearance. i try to never look at any other part of my body than my face in the mirror. i hate photos of myself. i'm sure a severe weight loss will help to change that. while i'm overweight, i enjoy a very active life with work and extensive traveling ( my husband owns a travel company). i feel like a very lucky person to have all the blessings that i do have in my life -- losing weight and keeping it off - will only enhance that. I also look forward to better health and better movement.
