    Finally 6 Weeks Post-Op!

I am super excited to start exercising! I know my Dr. said no sit-ups for the rest of my life (could flip my port)...but are there any other things I need to know, restrictions, etc? Are all other core exercises ok? I would hate to mess up my band! Thanks for the info!
  2. So I was got my first fill last week, whoo hoo...5.0 in my band. He told me to come back in 2 weeks for my second. So when I went to schedule, the only appointment was 8 days from my first. I asked if she was sure that was ok, and she said yes. Anyone else have fills that close together? I have NO restriction, so I'm thinking it should be fine! I told them to be aggressive...I guess I'm getting my wish!

How often do or can you get fills?

I posted about this on another board...I'm getting my second fill only 8 days after my first! I'm not worried because I have little to no restriction...come on sweet spot!

    Labor Day Challenge

I'm in for 20 lbs. That would put me in ONEderland at 192...
  5. I was in the EXACT same boat ... that is what is so great about this place - people have been where you are! So don't feel silly asking for help! I was banded on 5/18 and I am waiting for my first fill...Once the "I'm banded...yippee" new wore off, I started eating junk whenever I wanted - never gained weight but stopped losing, which is depressing. I decided to start fresh. I joined Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal | MyFitnessPal.com (free) and forced myself to write down every bite I ate. It really started to make me see what I was doing to myself. This might work for you, too! Also, I have changed my Breakfast routine because I feel like it sets the tone for how I do the rest of the day! Now, I have 1 cup of light chocolate soy milk and one scoop of Protein powder with a few ice cubes shaken or bended. It tastes YUMMY and I can honestly say I've tried a ton of nasty Protein shakes. Good luck to you! Hang in there, and if you need advice, we are here for you! Here's to our first fills!

    First fill EASY!!!

Yeah for first fills...I cannot wait until I get mine on 7-1...this bandster hell is not fun!
  8. Hello! I was banded a little less than 2 weeks ago. I have a larger incision on my left side, and with the large knot under my skin, I was SURE this was my port, until tonight... All of a sudden, I feel a knot about 2-3 inches higher on the same side. Which one do you think is my port? Why do I have two knots? What could the other one be? I have an appointment on Tuesday, but in the meantime, I'm stressed all of a sudden! Thanks for the help!
  9. I am confused about the term "mushies" - aren't mushies the same as just chewing your food really really good? Do I really have to blend/food process everything as long as I chew forever? Just needing some clarification! Thanks!
  10. LOL...I was banded on 5/18 and my blog is super lonely also! :tongue2: I'll add you! I laugh as I'm writing because I think about how nobody is really reading it...it still feels good to get feelings out, and I am sure we will love looking back at obstacles we have tackled! Take care!

    Skinnier before surgery...

I am SHOCKED that your doctor still banded you at 144 lbs. WOW! I'm sorry that you are going through all this. It sounds like you are really working out hard - are you sure you are getting enough calories? Hang in there, love yourself, and keep focusing on healthy habits - water, exercise, portion size, etc. and maybe that will help you lose the weight. I wish I had better advice ((((hugs))))
  12. Well, I was banded on 5/18, and now I'm wondering what in the heck I've done. Is it the pain? I don't think so...when I try to pinpoint what bothers me the most it is: A. That I'm a failure - I seriously had surgery to lose weight? I couldn't do it on my own? B. That I'm selfish - I spent $10,500 of our savings to be banded... I was so excited before being banded, but now that it is done, I'm just feeling down. Does this feeling pass? Thanks for any advice!
  13. Thanks everyone for the replies...I think your right - in many ways I am grieving my old way of life, my old way of eating. I walk through the kitchen and where I would normally finish up my kid's mac n cheese, now, I look at it and think that I can't have it, but in reality, I don't want it. I'm really excited about the future. I appreciate all your guidance and insight. I haven't told very many people about my decision to be banded, which is isolating me from my previous support group. I think that once my body heals a bit that I will feel better about everything. What an emotional roller coaster!
  14. I'm having my surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) I am so nervous, and I hope that I have made the right decision to do this. I am spending a lot of the family's money, and we aren't taking our summer Disney trip so that I can have my surgery...I feel selfish, but at the same time, I think it is about time that I am a bit selfish...if that makes sense! Good luck to everyone being banded! ~Hope
  15. I think that giving up my Sonic diet cokes is the hardest part of the pre-op diet. I've moved to diet sprite so that I can break the caffeine addiction, but I still crave some type of bubbly and can't imagine not drinking another soft drink for the rest of my life. What is the skinny on carbonated drinks? How do I move past this hurdle? Thanks!
