  2. Happy 40th Birthday rarndt!

  3. Hi All, I had my first fill today and thought it was going to be painful but to my surprise it really wasn't, not even the local anesthesia first injected. My surgeon filled 4 cc in my 10cc band and I feel good. To date, I have lost 22.5 pounds since my surgery on 5/18/10. Can't wait to keep losing weight. Have a WONDERFUL day!
  4. That is normal! I did the same thing, I questioned myself if it was the right decision. I learn that week that I truly love food and then wonder if I will be able to enjoy all the food I used to eat. Now, I am on solid and eat anything I desire. Thank God, my craving for sweets are gone (trust me... I tried it and did not like it at all). You will be fine once you start eating solids.... Good luck!
  5. Hi! I would suggest walk as much as possible. You can also try using a heating pad on your shoulder blades - it helped me. I did not use any pain meds and felt much better post op day 4. Good luck!
  6. Good morning! I, too, have PCOS and hypothyroidism. I was told by my dietician it will take longer to lose the weight because of these conditions but she said it will be possible. People with PCOS will have to work harder to lose the weight but I am here to attest that it is possible. I had my surgery on May 18th, 2010 and thus lost 14.5 pounds. I am eating what I am suppose to eat, using my treadmill and drinking my Protein shakes - I believe this is the reason why I am losing. I will get my first fill on June 18th. If you need to talk to someone, please email me and we will chat. Please don't quit and give up hope! God Bless! Rosa
  7. Hi, when drinking caffeinated diet soda or any carbonated (bubbly) drinks, you are stretching your "new" smaller pouch. By stretching your pouch you will have difficulty losing weight. Hope this helps...
  8. Shoulder pain is considered referred pain, it is due to the gas pain. The pain is manageable - the first week is bad but it gets better.
  9. Hi All, I was banded May 18th and so far so good! I am extremely happy to say I am introducing different foods to my diet. I have lost 14.5 lbs since surgery. My first fill is schedule for June 18th (excited but nervous). Thanks!
  10. Thanks Dana, Your tips are very helpful... as for the Protein Drink, what is the name of the product so I can go buy it. My dietician told me I was too low on Proteins and need to increase it. Thanks again
  11. ChocolateDream81, Congratulations! Keep up the good work! I was banded on May 18th and am down 14.5 pounds.... Quick question: how do you manage to drink 64oz of Water and 3 Protein shakes. I am barely drinking one bottle water (16.9oz) and 2 Protein Shakes. Any suggestions? My diet has changed from pureed to soft and I am loving it!

    Sugar?

Hi, I was told that gastric banding patients should not experience dumping. I have my post op appointment tomorrow and will ask them. I will let you know as soon as I find out.

    Washroom problems

If you are taking pain meds, you are slowing your bowel movement. Maybe reduce taking pain meds until you have a bowel.

    Washroom problems

I was banded Tues (5/18) and finally had a bowel movement on Friday (5/21). Make sure to drink your protein shakes, it helps to avoid constipation.
  15. Hello All, I was banded on Tuesday May 18 and was wondering when will I be able to sleep on my stomach? I have been sleeping on my back and it is so uncomfortable. Also, wondering, when will the gas pain end? Thanks in advance for your advice.
