    Band to VSG or Bypass

Sorry for the delay in my reply, with the holidays I let time get away from me. I has my revision this past April. It has been wonderful! All of the reflux issues are gone and the bypass isn’t anything scary yo deal with at all. Weight loss has been steady and I am right where I want to be, comfortably.
  2. That is wonderful news! Things are going well with me. Weight loss has slowed down, but is still happening. I was advanced through the stages quickly and I am eating pretty much as I was before now. I will be 2 months out on the 10th. Best thing is that I have not had any incidences of reflux!!!! I hope that everything else goes quickly for you!
  3. I do feel fuller than before, but not too much difference in fluid intake or such. I had no problems with fluid intake in hospital to the point they were telling me to slow down and sip. I learned a new way to swallow to not upset the sleeve and it is second nature. This doesn't feel any different. I hope that your insurance issues get worked out as the freedom from reflux is AMAZING! Keep me posted.
  4. All and all it went wonderful! I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. The first week was rough dealing with the drain, but once it was removed all was good. As for reflux, I haven't had it at all since waking up from surgery!!!! It is so freeing, I hadn't realized how much it was dragging me down. Doc wants me stay on the Nexium 20mg instead of 40mg for one year to help with healing, but I haven't had any issues (even when I forget for a couple of hours). As for weight loss, well this one is getting me. I only had 30lbs to get to bare minimum for me. I am halfway there now. I am getting a little worried about that. My doctor has advanced me to puréed a week earlier than he normally does and then soft this week which is also a week early. Let's hope it slows because as it stands now I am down a pant size a week.

    Panic time

I am here freaking out totally. My revision is Monday! Ready to get rid of this reflux though!
  6. Revision is in 2 days. To say I am not nervous is an understatement! No pre-op diet other than clear liquids and view prep tomorrow. I really hope this works!
  7. I am so glad to hear you are doing well. My revision is scheduled for Monday the 10th. I am still freaking out a little!
  8. @ren0318 I am so glad that you are moving along on this! Wow, that is a lot of acid. Good luck on the revision process.
  9. When I had my sleeve revision in 2014, I had surgery on Monday and felt well enough to return to my desk job on Wednesday.

    Looking for a Twin (03/07)

I am an absolute nervous wreck. I am not looking forward to the food progression again and all the emotional stuff. We are currently having trouble with my teenager and I am completely stressed about that. I am ready to get this over with and no more heartburn!

    Looking for a Twin (03/07)

@CurvyCakes you will be a day after me on this revision. I am glad that your doctor gave you some idea of what to expect weight loss wise and that eases my mind a bit. I have at MAX 20lbs to lose before I start looking sickly. Keep in touch on how you are feeling with your journey!
  13. I can totally believe this. Everyone now wants to be a victim of something. Yes I have had complications, but I face them head on knowing it is just a bump on the road to the main goal!

    Looking for a Twin (03/07)

I will be having sleeve to bypass on April 10 due to excessive acid reflux. Of course, I am going for the trifecta because I had a band to begin with and have already been revised once. Insurance has already approved me, but info on this is so hard to find regarding changes and weight loss expectations
  15. Thanks for your encouragement! Your spot is where I am right now. I was nervous about the bypass, but am getting less so as I get closer. I just need this acid gone!
  16. I got my approval and date today for my revision. What did I get in return? The most intense bought of reflux I have had in a month. Just a reminder of why I am doing this. April 10th can't get here fast enough!
  17. I have tried to keep upbeat during my journey even though it has been through it all. Band 2009 revised to sleeve 2014 and revising to bypass in April. One thing that I do know, is if I hadn't been through this journey, I would still be diabetic. I take the good with the bad and being diabetic for me was the really really bad. My family has had both my maternal great grandmother and grandmother losing legs to diabetes, my mother is diabetic and when I was diagnosed in my 30s I wasn't having any of that. Yes I have had so many complications, but I also have my life and I am thankful for that. I am concerned that someone on this page is so adamant on not getting revised that they are trying to scare people into making decisions that are only their own to make, not their families, not truly their spouses, this decision is truly only between that person and their doctor. My spouse is supportive, my mother is not. I don't really care. I have not been diabetic since 2009 and that was my main goal! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I am not the least bit bitter about my revisions.@AnneElliot you need to get a life and stop berating people based on your opinion. This is a place for support, not extra drama.

  20. If you have any sort of reflux, I would go bypass. I am currently awaiting insurance approval on yet another revision (I was revised 2.5 years ago band to sleeve and I loved it except the reflux). My doctor is saying that he is no longer revising band to sleeve due to the higher occurrence of reflux, he will only do band to bypass. I can't speak to the bypass yet, but just wanted to get the reflux thing out there. I was given the choice, and apparently chose poorly.

    Band to VSG or Bypass

I am revising as my doctor has told me that this the only thing that will relieve the reflux. I had an endoscope in January and seeing those photos of the damage the acid is causing I was convinced also. Insurance has been submitted and appointment with surgeon to schedule is on Thursday.
  22. They have not had me on one as of yet. I may have to do something once surgery is scheduled, but as it stands right now, I weigh 147lbs. The nutritionist has mentioned having to add calories to me early to keep me from losing too much.
  23. Wow! Looks like you have found the problem. I have completed all of my testing and a request has been submitted to insurance. I see the surgeon on the 23rd to schedule. I am feeling better about it all, or am just so sick of the acid that I just want it to end.
  24. Oh thank you! I needed to hear that. I was so scared of bypass, but know it is my only option now!
  25. Appointment went well. Dr says that he is ready to do bypass, of course he wants me to do some strange things, like go to an info session again (seriously!? I have been bariatric since 2009, I know how this all works). But I can get in for that next week and they are going to submit to insurance early next week. I am coming to peace with my decision. He says reflux will be gone. I hope! He also says that insurance should not be a problem for 2nd revision because it is not due to lack of weight loss. He also said to expect 20-25 loss with this one. I weigh 149 now (5'2") so I guess I can deal with that.
