i was banded may 7. it was a tedious process, but not too long considering everything that needed to be done. i didn't have a primary physician prior, so i had my first visit w/ one in aug. he put me on a low carb diet and i visited for 6 months in a row for documentation. in the mean time, i did the required orientations, meetings, psych eval, nutrionist, xrays, and other clearances. the insurance approval i believe took less than 5 days. most of the waiting was for my surgery date. it was originally supposed to be april 30, but got cancelled then reset for may 7. my pre-op/class appt was april 22. i did a no carb diet for 3 weeks and then the liquid diet for 2 weeks before my surgery. may 7 came and went and now im just recovering and waiting while still on a liquid diet. i know the liquid diet is for my health and it will only benefit me, but come may 21, i will so be looking forward to the pureed food and chicken salad. it's been a month since i have chewed anything!

To Tell or Not to Tell?
k-butterflyy replied to 2beskinny's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i told my family and my close friends. i was really skeptical about telling co-workers. i work as a dispatcher so we do shift work. im really close w/ my shift and i explained to them what i was doing and also explaining that if i was in a bad mood, it was b/c i was doing my pre-op liquid diet. of course i had to tell my supervisors, but i didn't want any of the other shifts to know. on the roster instead of putting me out on vacation or something, my supervisor wrote extended sick leave for surgery all across it. why? i was so mad! then all of the questions started flowing, not b/c they cared or was concerned, just plain ol nosey! i avoided as best as i could. my last day of work before surgery, several people on the shift that relieves me showed up to work wearing purple (my fav color) to wish me well. i dont know who spilled the beans, but then i felt bad for not telling them myself, b/c now, these were the same people supporting me. so i guess at some point or another, people will ask other people or someone will leak the info. my plan was not to tell, but now EVERYONE knows. but the support has been great. so i don't mind now. -

In the middle of the night....

i'm only 4 days out but i have also experienced this kind of pain. the only real pain that i've had so far is the gas. it's killing me! i get up and walk around, even though it hurts to get up, i feel that i have to and at least get the gas moving about. sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. -
hey dave! im right behind u! i was banded 5/7. i'm still at home recovering. i have major stomach swelling and trouble getting in all of my fluids, but im still learning and working on it. im excited and ready for the journey.
