  1. Debbie, can you appeal to your insurance company? If not, I totally understand the out of pocket part. If my insurance didn't cover WLS, I would've never been able to afford it, short of winning the lottery. Does your doctor think it needs repositioning? If you can't afford the sleeve right now, I would at least get the tool you have fixed in the meantime. Just my 2 cents.
  2. Running scared, I would've suggested the same thing IF she didn't present a history of slips, one of which happened without her realizing it. The chances of her having a slip is much greater than another person who has never had a slip at all.
  3. So sorry you are having trouble. Statistics show that slips are more likely to reoccur after slipping the first time. I have been very fortunate in my band journey. I have lost 80 lbs since my surgery 21 months ago but if I started having slips, I would revise to the sleeve in a heartbeat. So far, my band has been a good tool and I hope it stays that way.

they taste pretty good too. oh, you can also keep some pineapple juice around, because it helps break down food too.

    Getting Stuck...

I keep a bottle of papaya enzyme tablets handy in case i get stuck and they have helped. Enzyme supplements sell under the designation of "digestive aids." The papain enzyme may assist in breaking down food in the stomach, which may reduce heartburn, acid reflux and other gastrointestinal conditions.

    Really mad at myself!

And dont forget to measure yourself. Sometimes you can be losing inches without losing pounds. The scale doesn't tell the WHOLE story.

When did you return to work?

I too have a desk job that requires no heavy lifting. I had my surgery on a wednesday...felt like HELL for two days..driving by Friday and felt nearly normal on saturday so I went back to work on monday with no complications.
  9. Hi there! If it were me, I'd wait for my fill until AFTER vacation. I would hate to get really stuck and have no doctor around to give me an unfill. Most doctors won't touch another doctor's patient. I imagine you'll be eating out and enjoying foods you wouldn't have at home. For the same reason, I wouldn't get a fill on a friday since I would have to wait ALL weekend in misery IF the fill was too tight, you know? 5.75cc in a 10cc lapband...three fills got me to the GREEN ZONE! 10. "I disagree. In this day and age it is possible to find something reasonable most EVERYWHERE. It might not be something you particularly want, but guess what…..eating what you WANTED got you FAT. " NOT strictly true, IMO. I've been thinking about this topic. I'm almost 7 months post-op and finding I can eat almost anything except for meat thats too dry or most breads. HOWEVER, ithe biggest change for me is the AMOUNT of food I now eat. It wasnt so much the kinds of foods that made ME fat but TOO MUCH of those foods. ANyway, I remember when I was a little kid and got sick after eating a hamburger. It was the FLU, not the burger itself that made me sick but I would NOT TOUCH a hamburger for YEARS after that, associating the being sick with the burger itself. So, for myself, I give a "bad" food more than one chance because its so easy to get stuck when you don't chew properly. Food is FUEL..not "bad". I still love pizza but instead of being able to eat 1/2 a pizza by myself, I get 1 slice and I'm happy. I REFUSE to eat like a rabbit for the rest of my life.
