I bought them yesterday at BJ's... Mrs May's Fruit chips. The box came with bags of apple, pear, and strawberry. It's just freeze dried fruit- nothing else. No sugar or preservatives. 38 calories per bag. They're crunchy and delish!:thumbup::scared2:

I've had both and been ok! 1 slice of pizza.. didn't finish it. But did use a fork and knife and take very small bites. And had a couple of small bites of my honey's filet the other night... it was so perfect- melted in my mouth! I can see a tougher steak being a problem but if it's a really nice cut and cooked well it shouldn't be too hard to chew well...

I have my next appointment in 1 week. I haven't really started exercising like I was before surgery... this week I did start walking on the treadmill for about 20 minutes a day and using 5 lb weights to do arms... trying to tone my chicken wings!!! But not engaging my core in any way. Feeling a little pain near my port scar today... don't know how it could be related to walking on the treadmill but it's the only change I've made. no swelling or hard lumps that I can feel. I'm also due for my TOM tomorrow so I'm feeling pain in the usual places for that... Do you think the pain near the port is related to either? It's not constant, but every now and then I get a quick sharp "ouch!" When did you start up your regular exercise routine?

whats it feel like
jingleboob replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it hurts like hell. I've gotten stuck on: scrambled eggs refried beans deli turkey pancakes turkey sandwich made with a good hearty nutty bread At the same time, I've had no problem with a burrito, hard boiled egg, deli turkey rolled around a cheese stick, or that wonderful nutty bread with a little peanut butter it feels like someone is standing on one point of my chest, can't swallow, can't swallow, mouth fills up with thick saliva, run to the bathroom, cough and cough, and it all comes back up. It's the last day at work for a good friend and they're having a lunch out for him and I'm hesitant to go eat out yet. I may go and not eat because I don't want to risk getting stuck in public with my co-workers... hopefully I'll feel the signs before it happens next time. -
I started to feel a lot better after 5 days... was sore for a couple of weeks but feeling ok. HUNGRY after 5 days... like major hunger. No BM for several days... however since it's all liquids at that point you can imagine what comes out... Once I got onto mushies I was a lot better mentally... very miserable and hungry the first 2 weeks on liquids. Then when I could eat mushy food I was better... although after 4 or 5 days of that I could eat and eat and eat mushy food. Now on "real" food and learning how to actually eat... gotten stuck a few times and it came back up- painful and not fun. Learning what I can tolerate. No major restriction unless I eat something that's likely to get stuck- then after 2 bites I'm in trouble. See the dr next week- hopefully they'll be ready for a fill!

That does stink. I know a lot of people travel 70 or more miles for fills so it is do-able. I did an 80 mile commute each way to work for over a year... it was not fun, but if it was only once a month or less it wouldn't be so bad. Are you having good results with the band? Do you think if you made the trip to the better doctors every 4-6 weeks you'd be more successful? I would think that would be worth the try as you've already put so much into it, at least I would give it a go before deciding on surgery again. Hope something positive comes of this for you!

Favorite foods since being banded?
jingleboob replied to missgypsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too... I have it several times a week for lunch... right near work. Completely satisfied with a small and it's lunch for less than $2!!! -
no big deal here either. chatted for about 20 minutes with the psychiatrist about why I eat and understanding the changes... then I had to take a personality test- that took a while as it was about 300 true/false questions, but they said I wasn't crazy and let me have the surgery!!! They know so little... muahahahahahahahaha

Also... this may sound simple but have you tried Afrin? It really dries out the sinuses. I get really sinusy and post nasaly and it always turns into a cough and within a day a hospital trip because of my asthma. The first sign of post nasal drip I start using Afrin sinus twice a day for 2 or 3 days and most of the time it does the trick. Neti pot daily to keep irritants out of my nasal passages, but sometimes there's just too much so the afrin helps me.

I had one a few years ago and had to drink 2 bottles of gatorade mixed with the medicine over 2 hours... and I kept the first bottle and a half down. Cleaned everything out that's for sure! Also, I don't want to scare you but talk to them before you go in and ask what kind of sedation you'll have... they put me under a twilight sedation where you're not fully out but you're not supposed to remember anything... and it didn't work. I felt everything and was very vocal during the procedure and they ignored me thinking I was in that half sleep state. I was NOT pleased, it was not pleasent, and they heard about it big time when it was over. If they aren't putting you out then make sure you have a code word to say so they know you're actually awake and aware... you do not want the experience I had.

The neti pot is fantastic for sinuses. Make sure you use non-iodozed salt in it. I do it morning and night during high allergy times and it really reduces the amount of sinus infections I get.

How bad is post-op pain?
jingleboob replied to missthaaaang's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had help the first few days... our girls are 6 and 11 so they don't need as much from me as a 3 year old! I was banded on a friday, and my mom stayed with us until Monday. Hubby off on Mon and Tues, by Wed I was OK to be alone with the girls. I could handle minor things with them, making lunch, settling fights, etc. I wasn't doing dishes or housework at that point and we ordered pizza more than once for dinner that week for them! Like others have said, the first few hours after surgery were the worst- I woke up thinking something had gone wrong during surgery because of the pain. But once I had a few doses of morphine and git up and walked around I wasn't as bad. I was a 10 when I woke up and a 7 by the time I left the hospital that evening. The next 2 days were between a 4-7 depending on how much I did or if I was due for meds. And really, after 4 or 5 days I was only on Tylenol and just sore. I was expecting the worst as far as pain goes... I was in pain for 2 weeks after my gallbladder and feared the same with this, but it was only pain for a couple of days. Definetly have help when it's available! But you should be OK after that!!! Good luck! -
Help! I've overeaten
jingleboob replied to kentx05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started "real" food on Friday and we had pancakes over the weekend... our 11 year old made them (and made gorgeous pancakes... I'm quite proud) and I had about 3/4 of one and knew instantly it was a mistake. PB, slime, all of it... hurt all day long. Friggin pancakes!!! -
I haven't had a fill yet, but after 2 weeks I could take my smaller pills... and now after 4 weeks I can take all of my pills without crushing them. I assume that after a fill I will have to crush again for a few days until the swelling goes down. I can drink easily too as long as my stomach is empty...

Period after surgery?
jingleboob replied to jennay5180's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
never hurts to call your doctor... but surgery is a huge stress on your body and stress does amazing things! mine came 4 days early the first time after surgery and I'm usually like clockwork! -
anniversary -what to eat????
jingleboob replied to carebear99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could make parfaits in champagne glasses with alternating yogurt or pudding flavors... I ate a lot of strained cream based Soups at that point too... Finding other things to do when we normally eat to Celebrate is not easy. It's one of the biggest issues we're having... just a big adjustment. Happy Anniversary! -
Losing weight without a fill.
jingleboob replied to CJZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow! I wish that was me! I lost weight until I hit mushy food and put 3#s on and haven't moved on the scale in 2 weeks. Today I start 'regular' food, and I'm hoping since it won't be mushy slidy food I'll be satisfied eating less... but damn! Would love to drop 100 in 6 months!!! way to go -
I need smaller pants again!!!
jingleboob replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jealous!!! :-) -
I've been advised against using too much soy as it's got estrogen in it. My mom and great grandma had breast cancer and the cancer was estrogen receptive. Also, I noticed when I did use soy Protein for a couple of months it really affected my cycle... I had double the amount of days! really sucked. I liked the idea of soy, but now I only use it sparingly. I'd try lactaid milk and a whey protein with the first ingredient "whey protein isolate" rather than "Whey protein concentrate" as that has more lactose... Soy has a lot of health benefits, but with the breast cancer history and cycle issues with all that estrogen I try not to make it a huge part of my nutrition.

What do you drink instead of coke?
jingleboob replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still drink a protein shake in the AM... milk, chocolate protein, spoon of instant coffee, sometimes a packet of truvia... shake shake shake... it's like a protein filled iced mocha! -
Scared...Surgeon wont call back
jingleboob replied to Tally23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been using the store brand Jr. Tylenol/Aceteminiphin meltaways... 6 of them can be used for a 1000 mg dose... (160 mg each x 6 is 960mg) But go for grape... the bubblegum flavor is yuck! -
no, a bong is just for 1 person... a hookah is a bong that several people can use at once... very social... WOW. Are we talking "water pipes" on lap band talk.com?
-
it's so pot! To each his own... I just know I couldn't stop myself from eating eating eating when the munchies hit and definetly not something I could tolerate on the band!

How long are you taking off?
jingleboob replied to va_viv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on a friday and took the whole following week off. I have a job where I sit in front of a computer and microphone so no manual labor. I probably would have been ok to come back after about 4 or 5 days, but would have been sore and tired by the end of the day. I had the vacation time so I took a whole week. -
I'm sorry. I am cracking up right now... of all the posts on this forum this one came out of left field big time!!! We used to enjoy a wonderful hookah in college... made out of an ocean spray cran-grape bottle with 4 hoses for all of us to share... and we weren't smoking flavored tobacco!!! In fact, my college hookah probably led to munchies that caused at least a 50 lb weight gain! LOL Oh, memories!!! lol
