Are You Telling People?
jingleboob replied to danide's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Am not openly telling people yet. I will once I've reached restriction and people start asking what I'm doing! The family knows (mine and his). Other than the fam, 3 friends know and 3 co-workers including my boss. All are being supportive! We haven't told the kids yet (his girls- I'm having the surgery so we can have kids too!) They're 6 and 11 and I couldn't love them more, but as I don't want all of the neighbors to know my business and I don't want their mother to know (as she and my fiancee are still quite bitter with each other and she's a fan of nasty diggs at our expense- even to the kids which I think is wrong) we haven't told them at all. After surgery we'll tell them I had something fixed that's been bothering me, but I don't need their mom's negativity coming back to our house so I'm not telling them I had the band until it's been a success. We have them 50% of the time so it's not been easy keeping it from them! And I wouldn't ask them to keep things from their mom so we're just not telling them yet. I'm on the radio, so when I decide to share with our listeners I will tell the girls first. I will share this with my listeners in hopes of helping some, but I want to have hit restriction for a stretch first. Get into my groove before the world knows... ya know?! -
I'm being banded on Friday morning ... THIS FRIDAY!!! Liquids is hard... I am allowed a small piece of lean chicken or fish for dinner with a light salad (I've just been chopping a few ounces of chicken into my salad) so I think that's been keeping me sane. I've never looked so forward to a salad that wasn't The Cheesecake Factory's Chinese Chicken Salad!!!! But this forum is also keeping me sane... I'm finding myself on here ALL day just glad to be "around" people in similar circumstances. Seeing the same issues, laughs, hopes, doubts... really is helping me make it to Friday!!! So thank you all for being here!! We'll get there!

but the smart pop kettle corn... yUM!!! I'm also on high protein LOW carb pre-op this week and they were pretty specific... 3 protein shakes, sugar free jello, sf popsicles, broth, and a LIGHT dinner of chicken or fish and a small light salad. So I've been chopping up lettuce and red peppers and a few carrots and chopping up some chicken and having a delightful dinner salad. I look forward to it all day!!! but it's the only "food" I'm allowed this week... btw- Newmans's Own Light Honey Mustard is friggin fantastic!!! I put my 2 T into a little dish and dip each bite just a little... YUMM. Damnit, now I can't wait for dinner and it's 8am!

pre-op house cleaning!!! Just venting...
jingleboob replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cracking me up!!! I'm also messy by nature and shove things in my closet like a pro. And generally I don't care what the kids rooms look like as long as they're not ruining their things! As soon as I see something on the floor broken because they've stepped on it they have to clean their rooms... other than that I'm just asking for help keeping the living areas tidy. Love them, but agree!!! -

haha! We bought new living room furniture last year and we were both insane with "Don't drink on the couch!" "Don't Eat on the couch!"... fast forward to now when I'm trying to resolve the peanut butter and spaghetti sauce stains off of it (along with some other un-identifiable ones). But the worst stains are on his beloved recliner!! He is wonderful but a 3rd kid sometimes! :-) -
Me too!!! Well, 31 and getting banded this FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!! I think the date is a sign of luck! I'm currently 283 (started at 311 in April... did pretty well on my pre-op diet!) I took the whole week following off. I don't have a demanding job and sit at a computer most of the time but I had a hard time after my gallbladder surgery and wished I had taken more time off for that one. Good luck!!!

they're healing!!! I remember the itching from past surgeries and my hello kitty tattoo! Itching is healing... a good thing. Just keep an eye on it and make sure it's not too red, oozy, or hot or hard to the touch. And itch around them, not directly on them! :-)

liquid diet bathroom issues
jingleboob replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got orange sugar free citrucel today and am adding it to at least 1 protein shake a day... I made one for dinner with orange sunrise crystal light, vanilla protein powder, some sugar free fat free powdered french vanilla creamer, a packet of splenda, and the metamucil... blended on ice it was like a creamsicle!! Hopefully this will help with the... issue... ick. -

Who had a baby after having Lapband?
jingleboob replied to MrsShannonDennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the main reason I am getting banded next week! We haven't tried for a baby yet but we talk about it. Too unhealthy and risky to do at 300 lbs. I'm a step-mom to 2 little girls and they are wonderful and if I don't have a baby of my own I will be OK but I so want to have a baby in the next few years!!! Good luck!!! -
I'm back and BANDED!!!
jingleboob replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
woohoo!!!! very excited for you! -
Anyone tried the Barilla Plus Pasta? Multigrain (whole grains) and it's not as heavy and sticky as whole wheat... lots of Omega 3's and it's got like 10g of Protein in a serving. is a small serving of this OK? Nutritionist said only whole grains so I think this is acceptable. I'm still losing weight to get approved for surgery.

Thinking about cheating.... opinions??
jingleboob replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did last night! OK, it wasn't really cheating. My high Protein low low carb diet officially starts today, I unofficially started monday. I am allowed a light evening meal (3 Protein Shakes daily, light dinner- lean meat and a salad, NO carbs, but no food the night before surgery). So... Last night my sweetie brought chinese home from our favorite take out and I will admit- I filled my plate. I loved every bite and now I'm done. He has offered to eat fast food for dinner on the way home this next week and cook for the kids so I can avoid all of that kitchen temptation. It's not a "last meal" but it's the last one for a while! 2 weeks of liquids after surgery means almost a month on liquids! But as of today I'm strict strict strict. Good luck! -
Motivation and a Plan?
jingleboob replied to Bella Luna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On pre-op (before the pre-op liquid diet) I've been eating fairly normally. I do start the day with a Protein shake, then a handfull of almonds or a light cheese stick late morning. Something easy for lunch- either a Zone bar (SOOO GOOD- chocolate Peanut Butter is like a candy bar!) or a turkey sandwich on light bread and a salad. Then dinner was just a smaller portion of what I made for the family. No other snacking (sugar free popsicles at times yes). I've lost 25 lbs since May this way, not a ton of effort. I've also stopped drinking with meals and for half an hour after... and I will say that has been the hardest thing. So I would suggest starting that asap because it takes serious effort to not drink! Now I'm a week from surgery and the liquid diet is as much ... fun... as they say. So i'm living on these forums to get me through to surgery day! -
Wow! You lucked out. May not have a ton of time to get ready... but also don't have to wait and wait and wait!!! My dr said most people are out for a week, some longer. He also said if you don't have a physically demanding job you can go back sooner (desk job). I'm getting banded next Friday! 1 week to go! I'm on liquids... 3 Protein shakes a day, crystal light, broth, sugar free popsicles (I go through these like mad and even make them with crystal light too) and I have the special K protein Water to mix in if I'm hungry between shakes. woohoo! Congrats again on the fast date!

Had all of my pre-op testing and my appointment with the Dr this morning... and finally got my surgery time! 9am on the 13th... barely a week away! I had my gallbladder out 4 years ago and there's a new feature at my hospital... they give you a bottle of scrub soap to wash your whole body with in the shower before you go to the hospital to start the anti-bacterial process... but if my laundry detergent isn't anti-bacterial is it going to do any good? And this weekend I will shop for a new "surgery day" outfit! I know, I'm ridiculous, but shopping for a purpose makes me happy!! I want something that buttons or zips down and pants that are stretchy!!! Preferably that don't make me look like a canned ham. :-P

on Liquids and co-workers are foodies!
jingleboob posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
very rarely do we have food in the office...Except for this week when I'm on liquids. Dunkin Donuts brought several dozen donuts Monday. Yesterday was hot so the boss decided to treat the office to ice cream, had to see everyone walking around and working with big beautiful bowls! Today, one of the "natural" grocery stores brought in a huge goody basket of organic nuts and muffins and chocolates... I almost want to call in for the rest of the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Having not told most people they keep bringing me food and I have to politely decline, tell them I'm watching my calories, then they tell me "But it's all natural, you have to try it!" Don't they understand that NO means NO... because it's about to be "Get that food out of my face and stop scarfing in front of me!":cursing: If only people were handing out something fantastic like purses or jewelry or cash...I'd be all about it. But of course it's food... Now to go sip on my Special K Protein Water... mmmm... -

jingleboob replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I haven't told most of my co-workers... about 100 in our offices and I've only told the 3 people I immediately work with. I'm just going to be a hermit and not leave my computer for the next week! Luckily I have my pre-op appointment today at 11 so I am leaving well before lunch here! just keep drinking... just keep drinking... -
What are you most looking forward to after banding?
jingleboob replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looking forward to: buying clothes at a "normal" store... not sweating so much... wondering why I'm broke before seeing multiple dunkin donuts and mc donalds charges on my bank statement... HAVING KIDS... (main reason for doing this!) being able to walk up 2 flights of stairs without gasping for breath... being able to walk up 1 flight of stairs without gasping for breath!!! Not feel so self-conscious in public... I just want to be healthy. We want to start a family but it's too risky being so heavy-- he's already told me he won't unless I'm healthy weight because he's terrified of the complications. I agree. The bonus of not wearing plus sized clothes is a good one too! -
LOVE my magic bullet!! Have had it 5 years and I wouldn't dream of going back to a blender! I make tuna and chicken salads in it, love the cream of broccoli soup recipe for it, SMOOTHIES and protein shakes rock in it. Also great for parties... frozen adult beverages baby!

1st week of pre op diet, lost 9 lbs :)
jingleboob replied to NC Dave's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Phew! Good to know the cranky should stop soon!!! I'm on day 3 of a mostly liquid diet and have been told I'm a cranky beotch! I do get 3 oz of lean chicken and a plain green veggie at night though, but I gotta admit, I've been having a protein shake the past 2 nights as the thought of broccoli without even molly mcbutter makes me gag! 9 days to go! woohoo.
