hahahaha, I love it!! My fiancee thought I was ridiculous for needing a new hospital outfit. "Nobody cares what you wear to the hospital"... boys don't get it. I care what I wear. I'm going to be uncomfortable and I want something new to enjoy!!!

Worse than a 5 year old waiting for Santa!!!!
jingleboob replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is barely 24 hours away... I've got an early day today too!!! Normally I work from 4:30am-1pm... today I get to leave at 11:15!!!! OK, have to go to a client to film something for our website but it shouldn't take too long. The main thing is being out of the building and away from email or the intercom paging me... I can make it through the day! -
Help!!! Hair falling out!!
jingleboob replied to Kkrc10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yikes!! talk to your dr or nutritionist. I did ask my nutritionist about it and she said it was not protein and it doesnt happen to everyone, but some people after a significant weight loss will lose hair for a few weeks, but it does stop and grow back. she suggested taking biotin supplements and nioxin shampoo you can get from hair dresser! -
Worse than a 5 year old waiting for Santa!!!!
jingleboob replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
and I am SOOOOO tired this week. I have been shaking my head to stay awake at work. So few calories. I don't feel dizzy or lightheaded, but I am exhausted. Is that usual? -
I've read several people complaining of their bathroom troubles on the liquid diet... liquid in, liquid out... I understand now. I'm almost afraid to be far from a bathroom, I've had a couple of near accidents at home today. Will adding benefiber help or make it worse? Does anyone have any "solidifying" tips?

can someone give me info on pre-op liquid diet
jingleboob replied to jigglebutt1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All doctors seem to have different versions of their pre-op diet. I can tell you what mine wants from me... This week I'm on high Protein, low carb. So I have 3 Protein shakes a day- they said I could put greek yogurt in them to make more of a smoothie too, and I'm allowed a light dinner of lean white meat (chicken/fish- small piece no bigger than palm of hand) and a light salad... but no food night before surgery, just protein shakes. I can also have broth or sugarfree popsicles or sugarfree Jello. Honestly, it's not too bad. I am hungry and I've never looked more forward to salad in my life, but it's only really bad when I have to see other people eating- so when the fam eats I just go watch tv in the bedroom. And I can honestly say I haven't cheated once! 48 hours from now I will be in surgery! -
Gallbadder removal following Banding?
jingleboob replied to Purrplelover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine out 4 years ago and I was not prepared for how much pain I had! I had talked to friends who had it done and one had hers out on a Tuesday and was mountain biking on Saturday. I woke up and thought for sure something had gone wrong in surgery because of the pain level, but nope... all went perfectly! It was 2 weeks out of work and over a month before I wasn't "in pain". My bellybutton was the worst... where they put everything in and out of. It hurt to have pants on, or bend, or breathe, or get up from a chair... Being banded on Friday and they tell me it's similar to the gallbladder so I'm a little nervous. But like others have said- some have virtually no pain from it, and then there's me. But the surgery pain was not as bad as the gallbladder attacks I had for months... I thought I was overdoing it with crunches at the gym for a few weeks until it got so bad I was literally woken from sleep and laid on the bathroom floor unable to move from the attack. Here's to hoping you're nothing like me!!!! -
Getting Banded Aug 26th should i tell my PCP?

Concerned about weight loss
jingleboob replied to Beachbunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a similar pre-op diet (2 more days!!!). 3 protein shakes, high protein low carb. I can hve a small piece of lean meat and a light salad for dinner and I haven't lost a single pound in over a week... actually this morning it was up 2. I haven't gone off plan once so I know it's not me. All I can think is I'm taking in 800 or less calories a day at the moment... may be too few for my body to lose on. OR, the chicken broth I've been enjoying as a fake meal has too much sodium and I'm retaining water! But I had read a lot of people not losing on their liquid pre-ops so I'm not freaking out yet! -

Can we blend/puree any soup to make it liquid?
jingleboob replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
magic bullet rules!!! Love it for Protein shakes... before we used it for smoothies everyday... kids still do. for that alone it's worth it for us. I make tuna and chicken salad in it since we have a picky eater who "hates chunks". There's a recipe for cream of broccoli soup with it that's actually really good. salsa was easy with it. coffee. Only thing it didn't work well for was grating a bar of soap (for laundry detergent-- found a recipe during one of my "let's see how we can save money" phases...) GO MB!!! -
I'm 3 days from surgery- on high Protein low carb (3 Protein shakes daily and a light dinner salad with small breast of chicken cut in it). Been doing this for about a week and not a pound gone!!! But I've also figured out the calories and it's barely 800/day so my body could be freaking out hanging onto everything. I'm also peeing like a racehorse and haven't slept more than 2 hours at a time without getting up to go! That may be the biggest reason I'm ready to be off mostly liquids!!! We'll lose it!!! Just stick to it!

Sounds like you have a great sister. :-)

It's amazing how similar we are then! Up until we started the banding process my fiancee had NO IDEA how much my weight affected my confidence and security. He's known me for 13 years and had no clue! But I do the same thing... act like it's all good in front of people. I don't usually let my size stop me from doing things either- but the whole time I'm aware what I must look like doing them! It's nice to know there are other people out there experiencing life as I have. I didn't think I was alone in it, but it's comforting knowing for sure!

I was told to have liquid tylenol on hand after surgery... only problem... the adult liquid tylenol that everyone has is only in CHERRY. EEEW. Nothing more icky than cherry flavored liquid medicine. I'm 31 and still can't force myself to take robitussin or anything else cherry flavored. I gag and wretch... which I don't think will be the best way to heal from surgery! I can't help it, it's just so offensive to me... so... can I just take 6 of the jr's chewable tylenol? That would be 960 mg (instead of 1000 for adults)? Should be the same effect right?

Need help, feel like a failure....
jingleboob replied to b9409's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not easy being in a new place where you don't know anyone. I've done it 3 times and it was easier when I was younger!!! My last move I was a hermit and never went out and only knew my co-workers. But what a great opportunity to meet people! Join the Y... take a class (anything- paining or clay or cake decorating!!! you don't have to eat the cake... but they're so fun to decorate!) take a healthy cooking class!! learn to make wholesome good for you food. you can do it! -
I got a surgery date!
jingleboob replied to THEMAXWELLFAMILY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YAY!!!! Congrats on the date! -
I'll double check with my Dr after surgery on Friday. I just know myself and even the smell of cherry medicine is enough to make me yak. I don't want to be doing things that are likely to make me throw up while I'm healing... or ever really! 3 days!!! holy smokes!

my nutritionist is adamantly against the gummies! they don't contain Iron and that's important!! She says plain old children's chewables are the best. She won't even give the gummies to her kids b/c of the lack of iron. I just found chewable Calcium citrate at GNC and they're not too gross! So I'm taking chewable flintstones (2 a day...) and chewable calcium along with B12 (because I was low in my bloodwork).

It's like you're in my head. I'm the same way... I NEVER announce when I'm dieting... because when you're as overweight as I am it's all people want to talk about with me when I admit I've been dieting. I hate having people ask me about it. I resent when people remind me "is that on your diet?". I just know this is going to be a huge life change and it's going to be hard and frustrating and I don't need people to add any more frustrations until I've "got it". If you feel that way then tell him... that way it's more about you and how you feel rather than "Because I don't want your parents telling people"...

pre-op house cleaning!!! Just venting...
jingleboob replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mom's an RN... telling her to stay home (she lives 40 minutes away) is not an option! And you just don't tell grandma what to do. That woman is 75 and will out work and out walk any of us! She never quits and I don't know how the family would work without her. I scrubbed the kitchen floor last night on my hands and knees (and my lower back is not thanking me today... another thing I am hoping losing the weight will help) and threatened the lives of anyone who didn't wipe up a spill or take their shoes off on it. Then I picked up the cheese wrappers, ice cream sandwich wrapper, and soda cans left by the lone man in the house. The girls will throw their stuff out but he's an old dog now and I just can't get him to do it! All we have left are the kids rooms (today) and bathroom (which I don't do... it's the only room in the house I don't do and he does!!) And at least it's giving me something to do this week! I'm really aware of not eating and finding little things to do is distracting!! re-organizing kitchen cupboards, FINALLY going through the chest freezer, sorting through the shoes in the front hall and deciding our 6 year old doesn't need 11 pairs out there... I won't get to all of the laundry but I figure mom will wash it and I can fold it while sitting. I'm expecting more laundry tonight as the girls clean their rooms and we find a pile of clothes they forgot they owned! 3 more days!!!! PS- we also have a cat you can have Jacqui! She's a sweetie, loves to snuggle, purrs like a pro, and if there's a wet towel on the floor she loves to pee on it! You cuold have a matching set of kitties in the bathroom! She will pee on it only if it's already wet. I have found that just hanging up the towel means she won't do it but apparently I'm the only one in my home that knows this "trick". I bought all of us our own towels- 4 each with a different color and mine are the ONLY color left!!! arrrg. -

comparing band date to lbs lost
jingleboob replied to justxkarma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haven't been banded yet... but can mention that people with MORE weight to lose tend to lose more at first before evening out... if you're someone who has a BMI near 50 and you suddenly drop calories it's more dramatic and you'll lose a lot initially. That could be part of what you're seeing...
