    New to the foums

Hi Carol, I am so excited for you!! I wish I could get mine done that soon!! I am going to the seminar tomorrow!! I am so excited. I wish it could be already done, and be one the new road with all the losers! I never thought I would want to classify myself as a loser ever, but I will be so glad when I am. Keep us up to date!! :smile2: Stayce

Need a little Support and Advice

It took a good while for my husband to be on board with me about me getting surgery done. I had been talking about it for 6 months or more. He kept saying, "you are taking the easy way out." Honestly I don't think it is going to be the easy way out, I have been watching these threads for some time now and I see everything that we have to go through to get what we want. I have been researching and researching and he is just now finally agreed that I do need this help. I look at it as though it is just a little tool that is going to help you! I agree with everyone, just be honest with him, either he is going to accept it or forget what you all had (don't know what it was), but most of all he should be behind you because you are wanting to better your life. And no matter what he should love you for who you are not for what surgery you had! Good luck with everything! You are making the right decision! :crying:

My mom went from almost 400 lbs, to now 150 lbs. She looks amazing. The reason I am going towards the band is because it is a much slower way, I can exercise to get skin to tighten back up. My mom has extra skin because she lost weight so fast. I want this so much that I would love for it to happen tomorrow, but I know that is not going to happen. I know there are tests that have to be ran and all of that, I just wish it was done and over with and I could start over. Ready for a new life, healthier life, and a happy life!!

I went to one doctor before the one that referred me. She was like that too. It was weird, I thought that she would have been more towards me getting it done too. She said that she comes from a family that is obese too, and look at her. She said she has to try hard everyday to look the way she does, and all it takes is will power. That is great if that is what you are able to do. I need something to help me too just like you. I hope I can get as much information as I can from this orientation on thursday. I have a question for all of you out there, what made you go for the lap band, and not the gastric bypass? My mom did the gastric bypass three years ago and she looks amazing, my sister did the band two years ago, but now she is pregnant. What are your views on pregnancy after getting banded? I have so many questions, I just don't know where to start. Stayce

I think you said that you have tricare. I do too. I was very scared to go to my PCM, I had already been to one already and she told me that I shouldn't do it yet. I have been struggling for 7 years now with my weight, why not yet? So I finally got to a doctor that was very concerned with my weight and how much my back was hurting from my weight and he finally referred me to Portsmouth to the Naval hospital. I wish you the best of luck with everything. I am really looking forward to going to the orientation on Thursday. I am hoping it doesn't take 6 months to surgery.
