    I am a CHEATER

Oh good information! I wondered why I had to stay on liquids, then full liquids, them pureed, etc. . .NOW I get it. . the stomach contracts! Ah HA! My stomach is flipped over the top and stitched as well. Thanks!
  2. It's perfectly normal to be sad and it's ok. You're ONLY 7 days post op as am I. Mentally, it's rough. This is a huge lifestyle change, not to mention physically. Plus, you stopped smoking. You are doing GREAT! 2lbs? No worries. . . that's the one thing I have learned is this stage is truly about healing (though I wish it were more weight loss). I don't know if I'm hungry or not either. Or if I have gas, or the hernia or what!? But.. I know I'm not ravenous and snarfing everything in sight. . so this is a good sign. . I think? :smile2: Hang in there. . give yourself a few weeks to feel like crap, be sad, even be mad. . but know that you are doing well. (Not sure who I think I am spouting off advice like that. . but it's true!) All my best!
  3. Hi there! I'm so glad you messaged me! I'm excited for you. My surgery went super easy. I had a small hiatal hernia repair as well. I took the Lortab for 2 days and stopped, no problem. Clear liquids sucked, but I found a product called Protein Water by Designer. Here's the link, http://www.designerwhey.com/protein-water/

Mentally has been kind of hard..post op depression but it's better and low energy but I know it will change. I'm doing much better now! Let me know if you have any questions and also how it goes!

    Sundie

    Any June Bandsters???

Thanks everyone for posting your experiences! It's so helpful. Mostly it's the fear of the unknown. I'm getting banded this Monday, June 14th. Not nervous, just not looking forward to the recovery process. . .blech. I'll post my experience and maybe that will help someone too! Onward and downward. . :frown: SunD1
  5. I'm so glad you guys brought up this subject. I always thought I must be crazy because physically. . . I am always starving! Everybody talks about head hunger. I understand that and I recognize when I'm feeling emotionally hungry. But this is one of the reasons, I have chosen to have the LAP-BAND®® (9 more days!) because the past 6-8 months, I KNOW I have been physically hungry... ugh! Anywhoo. . thanks for the validation peeps!
  6. I'm 10 days out from surgery, and on my pre-op diet, which is basically, protein drinks, slim fast bars and lean cuisines/healthy choice meals. That's what my Dr. prescribed. . no clear liquid only diet. Go figure! I wonder why all the diets are so different and yet it's the same surgery for us? And I have cheated, but have still lost. . whew (not as much as I could have).

    Booo!

Hi everyone, Hope you are all losing and feeling great! My surgery is schedule for June 14th and I'm not excited nor am I nervous. I'm completely apathetic. What is wrong w/me? (That's NOT a rhetorical question).LOL! It's kind of like I'm wondering, is this REALLY going to work for me? Is it REALLY going to happen? I've lost 100 lbs on my own, TWICE! I know how to do it, I can't keep it off. Maybe it's because I know what lies ahead. My relationship w/food will change. It's been my friend and I'm anticipating the letting go part. Plus, I have PMS. Sorry, TMI I know. .just trying to keep it real! LOL! :Dancing_biggrin: I've been on the pre-op diet since the 31st. It's cake. . (not that kind). I have: 1 Protein drink for Breakfast, 1 Protein Bar for lunch, 1 lean cuisine type meal for lunch, another bar for a snack and dinner is a lean cuisine again. Yet. .I have cheated. Not badly. . but not goodly. LOL! Sigh. . so. . .seeing the Dr. for my pre op appt. tomorrow. Maybe some type of reality or excitement will kick in? Maybe I'll be rid of the horrid PMS! Thanks for listening guys. . ! SunD1

    Booo!

Thanks you guys! I really do appreciate the encouragement and insight. It helps a lot. Missy ~ you are sooo right!! That is EXACTLY where I am! I am just not willing to do it all over again w/out the support/tool of the LAP-BAND®. I just don't have the drive or the energy. I know once I get "going", I'll do well. . . good point. I met w/my surgeon today and he was great. I do feel more hope and looking forward to it. Thanks tons!! SunD1

    Justgettinggoing

Hi there, I haven't been banded yet (June 14th), and am new here myself, but as a fellow cat lover, just wanted to say hello! I hope you are able to make an easy decision that you feel good about. I researched gastric vs LAP-BAND® too. Decided LAP-BAND® was for me. I turned 40 last year, have lost 100 lbs TWICE, on my own and decided I needed something to help me keep it off and to support me. This is it! Good luck to us and give your kitties a scratch! :tongue2: SunD
  11. Hi Everyone, Thought I would jump in here. Don't really know what I'm doing but that's never stopped me before. So, if I make any online faux pas, my apologies. :smile2: I'm self pay (booooo), and am getting banded on June 14th here in Utah! The process has been incredibly fast! Went to a seminar on May 19th, turned in my paperwork the next day. Received a call from the Dr.'s office on the 21st to schedule the surgery. Holy crap! Now, just waiting for another call about all the pre-op stuff. Since I'm self-pay the process is smooth and pretty darn easy so far! I'm in shock from how fast it's going. I'm still trying to determine, who I'm telling about this surgery and who I'm not! It's a tricky business. . . Anywhoo. . . looking forward to chatting w/ya'll! I still need to fix my signature line. . but till then: SunD1  Before: 311 lbs Pre Op: not sure yet Goal: 140 lbs... (lofty, isn't it?)

    New in UT

Thanks for the reply Carol D! I've done a lot of research, so I'm as ready as can be. I think I just didn't expect it to go so smoothly. I figured I would need this signature or that document, yadda yadda. So, I had kept my expectations very low. You're right, you really do have to be emotionally prepared. It's a BIG step, a BIG deal if you will. But. . finally. . I'm ready! Keep me posted, your date is coming up as well. :tongue2: Very exciting. . . .
