Almost 5 yrs post op, now I have lots of pain in/around my port. Nearly any type food brings it on. Even water. Coffee doesn't. I don't get fills anymore bc I wasn't losing weight. Has anyone else experienced this?
-
My Dr says liquids only for 48 hrs after a fill. My question is...is it ok to liquify vegetable soup and drink it? Or have Cream of Wheat liquified with milk to make it drinkable? Or is that pushing the 'liquid' limit? Broth's just don't cut it. Lol
-
Well Dr. didn't specify and I should have asked. One time early into my banding I asked him about liquifying lima bean soup and he said it would be ok, but I simply forgot to ask this time and he is out of town. I wouldn't bother him on the weekend anyway.

First fill in a few days, not sure what to expect

Ditto on Shady2121. My dr says 48 hrs of liquids. All in all an easy process. My port scar healed over so well that he says he needs to tattoo it so he can find the port easy, LOL. -
I'm up late tonight because my leg cramps are bad. In my calf. I just ate 1/2 a banana which sometimes helps. Anyone else have that problem? My Dr says my potassium level is very good and try taking magnesium supplements which I am. Still cramping. I take a multi vit, b complex, calcium, and magnesium.
-
I think I've narrowed down my leg cramping thanks to u guys here. After retracing yesty I remember not getting in enough water. Some days nothing wants to go down easy even water it seems. Thanks for your replies.

Where do u get chewy calcium citrate? I have checked Wal Mart, Walgreen, CVS, Costco and grocery stores with no luck. They all carry calcium carbonate only.
-
I am aware that I am not supposed to take calcium WITH my multivitamins, but I wonder how far apart can I take them?
-
Is it the calcium citrate? Hard to believe I can't find it at the regular stores, not just specialty stores.

Has anyone had ice cream yet? It sounds so good. I can resist, but wonder if anyone has eaten any yet? I know it's one of the 'sliders', so I won't even try it.

I am tired of my same breakfast every day. Cream of Wheat and an egg. What does everyone else have for breakfast? I love Cream of Wheat, but....!

Been 2 years, need to get back into it all :(
Esorami replied to BillyTheBear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would bite the bullet and go for it. What can it hurt? Your Dr will be glad u did I think. And he is there to help and not criticize, or make u feel bad. Do it! Good luck and come back and let us know. -
What do you do when you get stuck?
Esorami replied to clm2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Oct 6th and I haven't had anything get stuck yet. I dread that day. But I still chew until food is mushy or mash up my food really well before I eat. -
At this point, nearly everything is 'normal'. Growling, stomach noises, pains here, pains there u just name it. It will all go away in time. I am 3 weeks out and I still have a stomach growl off and on.

How much protein do you eat daily?
Esorami replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietitian says I must get 60-70 grams of protein a day. I usually get anywhere from 60-65. -
My sis likes Muscle Milk and she gets it at Costco. I have yet to try it.
-
In the very beginning it is not so east to get 65 gr of protein in. But my menu had me eating something (4-6 oz) every hour, including 4-5 protein shakes a day. I could only drink 3. But u can have cream soups (no lumps), yogurt, sf jello, sf pudding, popcicles, applesauce, etc. I use the Bariatric Advantage choc and vanilla shakes and they are very good, 27 gr protein for 8 0z shake. Baby food really ????????
Esorami replied to PUG MAMA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat nearly everything and I just chew the heck out of it until it's mushy. My Dr said...your teeth are the best blenders there is. So I just chew more and make sure it is mushy like baby food. -
I sometimes crave Cheetos so when I finally give in, I chew some up and get the best taste out of them and then spit it out. By then it is nearly liquid! So far that is the only thing I've craved. I haven't told my dietitian yet, she may frown a bit. :w00t: :sneaky:

how much and how often should you eat 1 week post-op
Esorami replied to christina353's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My menu had me eating every hour of the day, 4-5 protein shakes a day (I could only handle 3 a day) broth, sf jello, popcicles, sf pudding, cream soups, no lumps, etc. It was hard eating every hour. I never could do it. 4-6 oz ea. -
Help, How do you get the crushed pills down YUK
Esorami replied to macie1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gallbladder pills do not come in any other form, I have been that route with 2 pharmacies. So, today I sprinkled it on my cottage cheese and crushed pineapple and it masked it totally. Mix it well and let it sit for a min or two. Or I add it to my protein shakes and it's fine. Seems like if it sits a while in a mixture of your choice helps. It's bile we're taking so no wonder it is so darn bitter! Yuk. :w00t: :sneaky:
