Alternative to Tylenol?
icequeen813 replied to trwa423's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
liquid Tylenol. Also if you are on any prescribed meds, you are supposed to crush them. Stay away from aspirin & NSAIDS like Advil, these meds can contribute to band erosion. -
Period during surgery?
icequeen813 replied to amberakamom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It"s business as usual. -
The pain is from the port site which is usually left of the umbilicus{belly button}. I couldn't sleep on left side for appox. a week. Is the incision healing ... if you place your hand just below the incision you may be able to feel the port ... completely normal.

My Left shoulder Hurts
icequeen813 replied to evvieNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain is from the co2 gas during your surgery. It escapes the body by passing gas{farting} orpassing from under the diapragm, which irritates the phrenic nerve which causes the left shoulder pain. The best way to relieve is to walking. It should be better in a couple o days. -

Need encoragement.... Or reality check?!
icequeen813 replied to Scoobie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you had your psych eval yet? If after 3-4 yrs researching the lapband & still have lingering doubt... I think you might be trading your obsessions. IMO it appears that a large percentage of lapbanders have an obsession with the scale& they weigh daily, sometimes several times a day! Personally I think that is a setup for frustation & possibly failure. You have a low bmi,not a huge amt of wt. to lose, get the surgery done, stay off the scale until MD visits. If you want to be obsessed with something, make it following your MD's instructions. -
Hi! Congratulations on the weight loss so far. You can do Peanut Butter spread on banana. I know there is alot of fat, however it is more about getting calories& Protein after your surgery at this stage.Try chicken, tuna,& egg salad using low-fat mayonnaise.

Am I crazy to do this???
icequeen813 replied to Alisabeth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
[:thumbdown:QUOTE=123crod;1548454]Do not let him scare you he is moving all over the threads spilling his words of hate. He is not even banded. Cheri Cheri, I think it is a "little odd" that the person is using the name "Axel" to spread his negativity, because Alex is the founder of LBT. This person has some hidden agenda in my opinion. I'm also suspect when people post& don't include info in their profile. -

icequeen813 replied to Mochapj's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I live in Florida. Dr. Ortiz in Mexico is an option for you. He is one of the more experienced lapband surgeons, has had a good track record from what I read. More experience than US doctors. -
:thumbup:Don't worry you'll be able to eat soft food before your trip.Dr, Aguila's protocol is week of clear liquid, followed by wk of full liquid, then soft diet! By the way I'm looking forward to meeting on Thur. I'll be one of the nurses recovering you!

I don't think that your insurance will pay with your bmi & no co-morbidities. Do something for yourself... self pay & get it done. The price for self pay is more affordable these days! -
I didn't realize you were researching a Dr in Mexico. Dr Aguila's price for fills are for his self pay patients.
-
Why don't you check out Dr Aguila for lapband surgery. I was a self pay. Fills are $50 for self payers. I had my surgery April 22,2010.

weight loss of self pay vs insured banders
icequeen813 replied to icequeen813's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery April 22 & I've lost 71 lbs so far. When I say I'm going to do something; I'm going to do it! I think that was the motivation... not the actual $10000 spent! -
chicken&beef broth,no sugar added apple&cranberry juice, protein drinks,bottled water.
