Dr. Paul Guske - If you have a choice, choose Guske
csmart replied to Nick85's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello, Dr. Guske did my lap band surgery on May 4, 2010. I have lost 111 pounds and am now 5 pounds from my personal goal. Dr. Guske has been truly amazing during this process and without him I woul not have had this success. He is assisting me in the process of all this excess skin removal and is as always sensitive and supportive about this. We are all blessed he is doing this!! Good luck!! -
I felt the same way the first week after surgery then I took a big turn. I am soo bleesed to have had the chance to do this. I was banded last May 4th and hav lost 90lbs with no complications and I feel amazing!! You will be great!! Good Luck to you!

I let it come up and never drink when I am stuck- very bad experience for me and more pain when I tried to let liquid push it through. You will learn what works for you! Good Luck!!

Wondering if I may have stretched my pouch
csmart replied to jbaker5d's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since you were just banded you have no restriction yet and until you get a good restriction what you can eat probablly won't change without you monitoring yourself. I lost almost 30 lbs before my first restriction cause I felt different but when I saw my esophogram I was wide open. Its normal for your restriction to loosen a little overtime and you learn to eat whats good for you. Good Luck! -
Actually your Trachea goes to your lungs and your esophogous goes to your stomach so it would have absolutely nothing to do with being intubated- however I could see medical staff concerned about the port if they did not know what it was. Mine can be palpated very easily but not seen yet. if you had to have a nasogastric tube inserted or needed any kind of invasive Gastrointestinal exams there could be a problem. Not a bad idea!!

Minus 90 pounds great restriction but.......
csmart posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my band placed May 4th 2010 and I have lost 90 pounds and still growing strong I have a great restriction- I can eat well and I am still slowly losing 26 more pounds to my goal weight. When I eat sometimes I feel my muscles contracting or spasming to push the food through the banded area, anyone else feel this ever. I can actually see the contractions its weird. It doesnt hurt at all just wondering if I am the only oneand if this is normal. Its been happening for a while and I have had no complications whatsoever. I appreciate any input! -
You will feel so much better in a couple days- I hardly even remember that feeling now almost one year later and -90lbs. I am so blessed this was the perfect tool for my weight loss!! Good luck and hang in there!!

Hi, I was banded May 4th and just had my first fill of 2.5 cc on June 9th. I feel a bit fuller when eating with no stuckeys so far and I have already tried many things. Pasta is fine for me but may be different for you. i wouldnt worry about it. On August 9th I go formy first xray(fluroscopy) guided fill and after that I think that will make a huge difference> Good Luck!!

You will want to wait to get in to the pool, tub, or hot tub until your incisions are completely healed to prevent infection it was about 3 or 4 weeks for me and I have had no complications at all. Good luck!!

Lap Band Rules and Weakness
csmart replied to peace73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
walking is the best exercise til your released to full activity after 5 or 6 weeks of healing. As long as you are intaking enough protien and fluids you should have plenty of energy the prtien really makes a difference. Good luck!! -
17 days and it was GREAT!!

csmart replied to smilinginside's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I support you, I am not sure I would have shared with him after 4 months and little interest til now. But this is meant to be for some reason. I am not sure all the "advice" you get on here is right for everyone- especially from some people that obviously know whats best for everyone haha!! Good Luck to you!!
