What a great question to pose!! I hope in 12 months time I can look back and remember all the fun active things I have been able to do with friends and family. I was banded on June 2 and with the combination of no alcohol for the month of May, the pre-op OPti-Fast and the post-op liquid diet I am 15 kgs (33lbs) lighter than I was at my heaviest. I am so glad to have made this decision to make the permanent, sustainable change to my life.:thumbup:

So I was banded yesterday and happy to be home with the family today - especailly happy to be in my own house once the prune juice kicked in......... Hope everyone else is going along nicely without complications.

Not long to go, I have just forked out about $7000 for my operation including Anaethesist etc ( can claim some back from Health insurance AFTER the operation) but all worth it. Operation is all booked in at the private hospital just down the road on June 2. Now 8 days into 14 day pre-op and whilst it ain't no walk in the park I am becoming used to it so to anyone having trouble out there - it really does get easier. Good luck everyone!:thumbup:

i am now 7 days into the 14 day Opti-Fast pre-op diet - climbing the walls a bit,jus want to have something other than lettuce :biggrin: what abotu that Opti-Fast, a bit ordinary to taste. BUT all good, operation is June 2 and looking forward to it hopefully I am like most who have posted on this site and will find pre-op the toughest stage of all.

My doctor said definitely no dairy also - i have having a VLCD (Very low calorie Diet) opti fast shakes and a vegetarian diet basically. The idea (my interpretation) is the get the maximum amount of fat removed form around your liver to ensure a safe passage to the doctor to fit the band. Not long to go, small sacrifice to make for a very long term gain. I am going through it to, 12 meals in to a 42 meal plan to prepare for surgery. I am psyched for this and can't wait for surgery so I can put the last 15 years of see-sawing weight gain behind me. Now just turned 41, I know I won't ever get back to that 25 year old fit footy player but I am very excited about making permanent changes that WILL have results. My dream is to be able to buy clothes from a 'regular' menswear store instead of having to find "high and mighty" (big men) stores. Currently 130kgs (286 pounds) I am hoping to lose 35kgs (77 pounds) but most of all being able to run around the park with my daughter climb rocks with her and race her in the pool etc. I can't wait for the change. I have already given away drinking in preparation (losing 3 kgs/6.5lbs) in a short time. I meet with the Dietician next week and then on to the 2 week pre-op diet before surgery on June 3 with Dr Copp here in Brisbane. Happy days ahead!!:confused:

Hi I am on June 2 in Australia so now 10 meals out of 42 down on the pre-op opti-fast plan - gong well so far. Good luck!

Yeah CR I am pumped also.My surgery is booked For june 2 here in Qld Australia.
