You have the right attitude to be successful. I have eaten too much so many times before I found this website and have learned so much from other people on here. Sometimes it is like there is a black hole in my stomach and no matter how much I eat it won't fill up so I have to limit myself like you do and that seems to help. You are doing a great job on your eating, keep it up.

I ate birthday cake for 4 days and gained 10 lbs so I know how you feel. I knew eating it was wrong but it tasted so good. Then reality hit and I knew I had to lose that 10 lbs again and boy has it been hard. It finally came off but it took forever. It just wasn't worth it. Good luck to you and just move on so you gained it now lose it.

This happened to me. I was on the pre-surgery diet and we had a potluck at work and I ate a little hoping it wasn't too much. When I told the surgeon he wasn't happy with me at all. He gave me this look like I disappointed him. Just move on and don't do it again. It gets worse after surgery. I remember feeling so hungry, like there was this pit in my stomach that I couldn't get filled up and it was awful but I got through it. Good luck to you and it will be so worth it after all is said and done.

I have the same problem. I weigh before work, after work, and before bed. Depending on what the scale says when I get off work helps me decide what is for dinner. I think the scale is my poison and I can't get away from it. Everytime I get on it, it just stays the same or I am up a lb...it's like it never goes down. The doctor put me on Xanax to help with the anxiety that has been caused by having this surgery. I never feel like it was a mistake but there are alot of mental games that your mind plays on you. My eating habits are either very low calorie or above what I should be taking in daily. There is no happy medium for me. I just have to learn what to do to get this weight off. I'm almost 10 months out and still have this problem. Good luck to you and like Bklynike says try not to obsess over it.

I'm almost 10 months out and can still feel where the band is when I bend over. I don't remember having any pain after surgery, I was sent home the same day I had surgery and was back at work 2 days later so I did very well. I felt it when I wore too tight of jeans though and that sucked because they were just tight around the waste not in the legs or anywhere else. Your pain should get better soon but if not, go see the doctor.

My mother was my inspiration. She had the lap band and lost 140 lbs but then is slipped and she had to have it taken out (gaining 50 lbs back) she decided to have the sleeve done in Mexico. She lost 22 lbs the first month coming home. She is doing great but because she had such success with the band that was how I decided to get it. I have a friend who had the bypass done and has gained her weight back on. What a waste that was. She feels terrible about herself now. I just wanted something I was familiar with and finding this website has been a Godsend because I was doing all the wrong things after surgery. I'm so glad I have people on here that go through the same things that I do. Good luck to you.

I have the same problem but mine is with birthday cake with buttercream icing. I love cake, just birthday cake. I try to limit myself but I ate it for 4 days in a row and gained 10 lbs so I know it isn't worth it but just one taste would send me into overload where I had to have the whole piece. The only thing that helps is to get on the scale and see where I am throughout the day and drink my protein. I weigh when I get up and then after work and then at bedtime. Depending on my weight is the decision maker on what I will eat for dinner. The scale is my poison. Just try to stay away from fried foods because of all the calories and grease, it's not good for you or the band. You have made the decision to get the surgery now use the tool. That is what I have to remind myself. Fried foods are addicting I know but they just add weight to you. Maybe try to take a little walk around the neighborhood with the dog or the husband or a good friend or just by yourself. Good luck and you can always write me if you need some support.

If You Had To Gain Weight to Get Lap-Band Covered By Insurance...?
khunt719 replied to photo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was denied the first time we put the paperwork through so I gained 30 lbs and was approved on the appeal. -
A lot of emotions.
khunt719 replied to goosapotomus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am jealous of you because I weighed 270 and wore a 4x or a 30-32 so you aren't as big as I was. My choice to have lapband was decided on because my mother had it done and lost 140 lbs in a year and a half. I'm 10 months out and have lost 45 lbs. I just wished I would have done this earlier in life (I'm 41 now). I haven't told anyone except immediate family because I didn't want anyone to say I took the easy way out or I should be losing faster than what I am and it's nobody's business if I don't want them to know. I had 3 closets full of clothes and have bought smaller ones on clearance and saved money that way. So getting rid of clothes was a blessing because it meant that I was getting smaller. You are right about your job being visually based and you should look at the downside of being a larger person to the upside of being a smaller person. Being vain comes with the territory because you will be getting looks, comments, the door held open, sales people waiting on you faster...it all comes with losing the weight, just don't let it go to your head in a negative way. You deserve to be vain for losing all the weight and bettering your self-image. I am still overweight but my self-esteem (which suffered) is getting better and I feel better about myself. I still have that fat person mentallity and wear too baggy of clothes trying to hide my body but it is getting better. Good luck on your journey and you deserve everything positive that comes out of this. You already have a good outlook on life. Let me know how it goes. -
Ugh! I'd rather starve!!
khunt719 replied to someuser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 10 months out and in the morning all my pills want to come back up before they even go down so I have coffee to try and loosen the band and then take my pills later in the morning. That seems to help. So maybe try it and see how it goes taking your pills. -
I am in the same boat. I didn't know anything about the band when I got it and thought I could eat what I wanted and still lose the weight, boy was that wrong. I fall off the wagon alot of the time and know it but that doesn't stop me from overeating or eating the wrong foods. You are just in a rut and October will come soon enough so you need to really look at the big picture and ask yourself if it is all worth it when you don't want to exercise or eat the wrong foods. I have vacation at the end of August and I am trying to lose as much weight as possible so I can fit into my vacation clothes I bought last year and thought I would be in now. It will probably take me losing another 20 lbs to get in them but I'm going to give it a shot. Good luck.

Well I did see 224.5 once about a week ago and that was the last time I saw it. Since then I have gone back up to 227. Maybe it is water weight? I am so tired of this game with the scale. It is like a never ending battle. I have to go for my fill tomorrow and probably haven't lost any weight this last month but I will go with my head held high. I'm just going to eat some watermelon, protein shakes, and a laxative hoping that will take a lb off before tomorrow. I took a day off so that gives me a 3 day weekend which is nice because I can get what I need to get done like laundry and cleaning. So the husband found a job with a CPA firm so he is at work. I'll just enjoy the day off by myself nothing to do because friends are at work. Using the body bugg has definately helped me to see how many calories I have burned and how many calories I take in. I knew about how many I took in but never knew how many I burned throughout the day and with the help of this little machine there is no guessing to do. It really makes you think about having that last bite or doing one more minute on the elliptical. Is it really worth it? and then you see the numbers and know it was totally worth it. I better go get cleaned up and ready for the day. I'll take the dogs for a walk and then just watch a few things on DVR before hitting the stores. I love my life today and I feel so lucky to be on this journey. :rolleyes2:

in my blog you asked me what foods I couldn't eat while having such good restriction. I have restriction but can eat just about anything. Meat I take little bites and chew well. Got stuck on Shrimp cocktail, so stuck I wished I would have died because it was so bad and took a day and a half to pass through the stoma. Other than that I can eat just about anything. I'm at 8.5 cc's in a 10 cc band and go tomorrow for another .5 so we will see how that does. Some days I can go 5-6 hours without being hungry and other days I am hungry after 3 hours so it just depends on the day I guess. Well good luck on your journey. Hope this helps.

Did anyone cheat on the pre -op diet
khunt719 replied to TRACIENEW1217's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you were rude and it was easier for me to read. We had a potluck on friday and my surgery was on monday. I had very little to eat but I still ate and my surgeon wasn't happy about it. So rethink what you do because it is for the best that you follow his instructions. -
Did you work during your 2-week liquid diet?
khunt719 replied to PhillyGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worked until Friday and had surgery on Monday. I went back to work 2 days after surgery. It really wasn't that hard. But I didn't have any difficulties either. -
Your thoughts on LOW CARB with the band.
khunt719 replied to marathonman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Low carb is the only way I go. If I eat breads and pastas the weight just comes right back on and fast...like overnight. So I try to stay away from them. -
Protein Shake help !
khunt719 replied to Breepad09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I buy the Inspire protein powder from Bariatric Advantage. They taste ok but it is only 4 oz's for 30 grams of protein. I figure I can choke that down in a few swigs so it isn't that bad. I've tried others but they want 8 oz's and that was too much for me at one time. -
How many cc's before you reached your sweet spot?
khunt719 replied to DottieAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 8.5 in a 10cc band and about 3-4 hours after I eat I am hungry. It's like there is a big hole inside of me and it is so empty, I must get food in it now or I will die. So I go Tuesday for another .5 and we will see if that helps. I want to try and wait 5-6 hours inbetween meals. -
How many of you had insurance cover your Lap Band?
khunt719 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Aetna and it took 1 1/2 years from the first consultation to getting the approval letter. It only took 3 weeks after I got the approval letter to have surgery so that runs pretty fast but it took alot of time and documentation for the insurance to approve me. I had to appeal the first denial and it cost me $400 out of pocket but it was worth it. -
Last night was a bad night to be fighting the demons, I call them demons because they go inside my head and tell me things like I'm not good enough or I'm not losing enough. It is a constant battle with them. Whenever I become positive about the surgery, they seem to come from out of nowhere and start with me. It is a tug-a-war between me feeling good about myself and me feeling depressed, I can't seem to get past this no matter how much weight I lose. It just isn't coming off fast enough. It's like I want to lose it over night but I know that won't happen. I look in the mirror and get so sick of what I see...the big belly, the rolls, the saggy skin. How could anyone love me like this? Good thing we have clothes to cover our bodies up. I don't know how to get rid of the demons, I used to cut myself to relieve the pain I felt inside but with the help of medication I don't have that urge anymore. I just need to find a way to keep them from coming back. My head hurts and I feel overwhelmed with emotions when this happens. If any one else feels this way, let me know what works for you.

Don't be discouraged. I've lost 45 lbs and only 1 person at work has said something about it so I don't know where the weight went but it is obviously not noticeable. What a ding to your self-esteem. I didn't feel restriction until my 8th fill so don't think 3 fills is the magic number for you just hang in there and keep with it. It will all come together. I hate getting fills also, I have had a fill every month since Oct and I hate the routine that follows but it is worth it. Good luck and I'm hear if you need someone to listen to you.

I never thought for a second that when I stepped onto the scale this morning I would final be below 225. I have been fighting this for a month now and after gaining and losing the same 3 lbs I finally got to 224.5. What a relief. I upped my exercise and I've been watching what I have been eating and finally got to it. Now I just need to get to 223 by next Tuesday since that is the day I go for my next fill. I will be at 9cc in a 10 cc band. My restriction has been good but I want more. I want between 5-6 hours before I am feeling hungry again. What a sense of accomplishment for me. I am so excited. Now maybe my plateau is over and I can start losing again. What a rush.

you asked about the body bugg from what I am seen it calculates the calories burned by the moisture in your skin and how many steps you take. I thought I could do 10,000 steps but I have been keeping it around 6-7,000 so I know I have to bump that up. It really helps because you log what you have eaten for the day and then it shows you what calories you have burned and it lets you know how many you can consume and have to burn to lose the weight. It is pretty neat. The only problem I have is it falls down on my arm so I am always hiking it back up. You put it on the back part of your upper arm with a arm band that is big enough to fit even the biggest arms and then you secure it with velcro. It is pretty nice. The were 175.00 online and come in black or pink. Hope this helps. Good luck on your journey to losing weight.
-
Well I ordered the body bugg and it seems to be very disappointing with the results. I would think that I was burning calories throughout the day but it is frustrating to see just how little you burn. I only hope I can get more exercise in and lose some more weight. I weigh in tomorrow and have 11 days until I go for another fill. Work is going good and home life hasn't been very stressful. So eating hasn't been a challenge for me. Well that is all I can say for right now. If anyone has any advice on how to benefit the most from the body bugg let me know.

Every night is like a battle for me to not eat everything in site. Last night I had a good night. I had a 4 oz piece of fish and a few nuts. That was good for me. So yesterday my eating looked like this. I had protein shake for breakfast, protein bar for break, a cup and a half of roasted squash for lunch, and then the fish and nuts for dinner. So not a bad day. I didn't get on the scale because I am waiting until Tuesday to do that. I didn't go swim last night, got off work and have a terrible case of allergies or a head cold can't decide which. I'm still sick this morning. My nose is red and hurts from blowing and my head is hurting. I woke up at 2:00 with a headache and couldn't go back to sleep. My eyes are so tired but my nose tickles and runs and my head just won't stop aching. I don't feel like I have a fever but am very warm sitting here so maybe it is a cold. Hopefully whatever it is I get over it soon. I don't feel like eating anything so I'll just stick with my protein shake for breakfast and then see how I feel at breaktime. I am taking cottage cheese with a few pieces of pineapple in it for lunch today. I'm going to go sit in the hot tub tonight when I get off. I have to run to walmart and refill some prescriptions and then I should be able to go to the gym and relax. I just might swim to cool off if I am still hot. No problems with the band except I am really tight in the morning and taking my pills to work helps because I can take them later in the day, they don't seem to come choking up that way. We are going to PF Chang's tomorrow so I am excited to see what I want to eat. They have such good food. My mom got a nutritional print out for the restaurant so I'll be looking over it. My mother seems to be doing good since getting the sleeve done. She lost 22 lbs the first month and is still losing, she is down to 150 now, boy what I would do to be 150 lbs. I can't ever see that far down the road. I'm just struggling to get to 220. I can't wait to say I've lost 50 lbs so far. It will be so nice. Well that is all I have to say for today. Take care and good luck in your journey.
