Let the Joyous news be spread: New Jersey votes yes on Gay civil union!
beversman replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
Wow... I tried to clear up the animal issue... and everyone did manage to go another darker route. Let's wade through this one. First of all, Gay Marriage. That WAS what this thread was about... I think. Gay Marriage It has nothing to do with Incestuous Marriage. Incest is illegal already. Therefore. No point in bringing it up.To review. Incest already illegal = incestuous marriage illegal. Polygamy already illegal in most states. again. issue already addressed by law.To review. Polygamy and incest are already illegal. They will still be illegal when Gay marriage is allowed. Breaking News!!! Polygamy and incest are issues with STRAIGHT marriage too. You can argue their case right now without even talking about gay couples. I love to watch the crazy arguements that develop when people bring up homosexuals. Every questionable, inconceivable "couple scenario" starts "coming out" of the wood work. They said GAY. Not a socially challenged, dysfunctional family fiasco. Allowing same-sex marriage opens up an argument for all these other types of marriage?? Doesn't allowing "traditional" marriage allow the same arguments already?? That's it! Ban on ALL marriage. We can't take the chances people! -

no family support for having surgery..lots of guilt though
beversman replied to misltoe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I completely understand. My family keeps telling me "if" I do decide to have the surgery that they will be there for me, BUT they are giving me the guilt trip from hell until it happens... You know they mean the best. However, it would make this so much easier if they would just be a bit supportive. My husband recently left me... so my family feels I am not in a good spot to make this decision. When do they want us to make the decision?? If we are ready, what else is there to wait for? Do they want us to wait until we are already soooo obese or sick that we MUST to have the sugery?? I personally would like to be able to make the choice to do it. There is no "good" time. They will hate the idea as much later as they do right now. That I am sure. So, yes... there is at least one other person here (me) That knows how hard it is to deal with the family reaction. --Brandi -
Hello..Newbie..w/needs
beversman replied to ProsperNLose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
try Care Credit... www.carecredit.com They are a low rate credit card ONLY for medical expense. The doctor's office you go to (I recommend Trace Curry through Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, OH) should have a finance plan you can apply for. www.thebanddoctor.com (Dr. Curry's web site) I know Dr. Curry's office does. You can have secured or unsecured lines of credit. (subject to approval of course) I was fortunate enough that the Care Credit covered all of mine. You can apply online and over the phone. The cost for the Lap Band plus a year of follow ups at Dr Currys office is $16,500.00 -- so you need at least that, depending on the office you decide to use. So, good luck. --Brandi -

I must say, to the people that keep bringing up ANIMALS. The consitution is not written to include animals. We are dicussing people. Humans. My dog I suppose has the right to bear arms? Remind me to make him a key to the gun safe. My dog posseses the freedom of speach? So, if my neighbors complain about his barking... I guess I tell them its his constitutional right? I believe my dog is a Buddist. I caught him meditating last weekend. Thank goodness for HIS first amendment right. My dog also growls loudly when I try to reclaim my newspaper from his dog house. But... Oh YES, he is protected against unreasonable searches and seizures -- So, I supposed next time I will need to bring a warrent. OK, the point here is... constitutional law does not apply to animals. New Jersey's vote had nothing to do with animals. This US law is for human beings. No clause needed. Unless we all need clarification that "Rover" can't carry a concealed weapon. If you understand the 5th amendment doesn't apply to "Fluffy" the Pomeranian, then you are cpable of understanding this vote does not apply to you marrying "Fluffy" either. gasp :omg: (ha) -

I am so glad to see so many logical thinking people here. Hooray New Jersey! Everyone has the right to be happy and live their life with someone they love. Life is too short to spend it passing judgement. -

What did you do during lapbandtalk downtime?
beversman replied to AngelaT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am really new to the site, and even I was already worried. It is so easy to get addicted to this place. You're right. It is nice, small, and friendly. Much easier to wade through than the other sites I've seen. I love reading everything. I feel like I am going to be super prepared when my surgery date comes around. You are all very informative. Glad you're all back! I can breathe a sigh of relief now. -
I'm a new one too, but welcome! This is an incredible site, and invaluable resource. You will soon get addicted. :-)

Helloooooooooooo from Cincinnati!!
beversman replied to Endora's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Much applause... and congratulations!! :-) I am in your same exact spot. Only I will be self paying. I also am with Dr. Trace Curry (Deaconess hospital). He is by far the most experienced Dr. in Cincinnati and this region, and his office is connected to the hospital. Nothing is done in a "clinic." It is all done through the hospital. www.thebanddoctor.com He is a great doctor to talk to for a second opinion. He does not pressure you to do anything. He completely explains things and leaves the decisions up to you. He is very informative, and in fact, he is Dr. C on THIS forum (website). He actually comes here to give all of the people advice and help. I don't see many other doctors taking time from their busy schedules to do that. He really cares about the "person" not just the "patient." That makes a huge difference when undertaking a procedure like this where you will be making frequent trips to the doctor and will only have more questions as time passes. Again, Trace Curry. Check him out. Experience is key. Good luck to you! -
Newby Southern Indiana just starting to perform lapbands
beversman replied to herbgoddess35's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am from SE Indiana. I too am in the preliminary stages. I've been approved for financing and am currently just trying to convince the rest of my family that this is a good decision. All I need to do now is set a date. I found a very good doctor in Cincinnati who has preform this operation many times. His name is Trace Curry. Here is the web-site. www.thebanddoctor.com I met with him a few weeks ago, and I was very impressed. The dietition on site was a patient. She had lost 80 pounds, and was there to answer questions as somone who had the surgery and was currently living the lifestyle. They may be able to help... if you on the Eastern side of the state. Good luck with whatever you decide.
