    December Bandsters

Hey Kristen! Welcome to our Dysfunctional December family!! hehe Just kidding... most of us are sane. Except for Nat (NGAdams) WHOA Watch out for that one! (I'll hear about THAT one later) HA I get banded this friday. So, I will soon be feeling the burn... and the gas... and the itching... Boy we are going to all be an attractive crowd for a few weeks. I am so glad that we were all able to go through this together. It has been a real experience getting to know you all before and after the band. We've got to see the journey along with the actual event. :-) which is kinda groovy.

Vitamin E Oil -- you can buy it in a bottle (just the liquid, no pills to pop open) at Walgreens (or any drug store like that). It is usually in the cosmetics section. But you want to be sure it is 40,000 I.U. or more. The 40,000 is the strength. (the kind I have is 56,000 I.U.) Many lotions advertise that they contain Vit E, but it is usually in such small amounts that it won't really do much good if you are trying to vanquish scars. Get the good stuff. It works really well. :girl_hug:

SweetHot - hey honey!! I'm so glad you're ok. walk, walk, walk (for the gas pains) and you should call your Dr. about the blood you're coughing up. DONT freak out, but I haven't had my Dr. mention it to me... so you should ask a professional. njust to be sure In my personal opinion, I believe it is due to the tube they put in while doing your surgery. That causes alot of irritation which could lead to bleeding. So... i wouldnt think it is anything major :-)

Keep sipping Water all the time for the inside... and Vitamin E Oil (40,000 I.U. or more) for the outside. It gets rid of the scars much more quickly as well!

I get about 100 calories per meal -- eating 5 to 6 meals a day (every two to three hours) when my tummy grumbles. So probably from 500 - 650 calories. I am getting about 80 grams of Protein a day. I am excerising, but unfortunately it has not been as much as i should be. I walk about a mile a day and some minor weight training. Nothing spectacular. Nat -- dont you worry about the weight. Make sure you are getting enough calories and protein though, or your body is going to think it is starving and hold on to all the weight it is carrying (as a defense mechanism). I have a feeling that is just Water weight. Our bodies hold onto water after and injury. So, when you do weigh yourself... becuaes you sound like me and I know you will get out the scale even if you do put it away... hehehe... just remember, that is your body healing itself. Give it a few more days. :-)

    Why not admit to surgery...

You know... I didn't think I would really have to tell people until further down the line. Well, everyone at work found out I was having surgery though. (small town grapevine) And finally the question came out the other day. "What are you having surgery for?" I stopped for a second... like deer in headlights. Then, I did something I NEVER do. I lied. I told them it was for my gallbladder. :cry It was a spilt second decision. Probably a wrong one. I never am dishonest, but I didn't want to be rude and tell them it was none of their business. (it isnt good to piss people off in a small town like this) BUT I don't want to tell people until I know this is going to work for me. I am not happy with the way I handled it. I was just put on the spot and didn't know what to do. I didn't know it would be that hard. I'm mad at myself.

    Some lighter fare...

The heavier the better, mosh pit chick all the way! Well, sometimes... that is my "treat myself" kind of concert. My favorite group of all time. Simon and Garfunkel. :hippie: Hmmm... so, I'm somewhere between tree huggin hippie and gothic metal head. Oh... then there is my classical music fetish.... and my soul and motown hhmmmm... and big band heck, even opera ok, im eclectic.

Thank you Nat. (hugs) :-) That's why I come here. You guys are the only support that I have. I'm doing a happy dance (and song) for our December 18th ladies!! (i think that is safe to say "ladies" ... no men here unless they are hiding) Strangely, I'm not nervous yet... even though it is only 4 days away.] Uggh.... the Dr. just called and had to reschedule my surgery for 1:30pm(instead of 7:30am). Some lady had a latex allergy. I don't mind helping, but damn it... i was hoping to be home by then. gggrrrr Confession!! Well, everyone at work found out I was having surgery though. (small town grapevine) And finally the question came out the other day. "What are you having surgery for?" I stopped for a second... like deer in headlights. Then, I did something I NEVER do. I lied. Ugh, another confession... I ate ham. My grandmother made it (made dinner for me because I was coming over) without realizing I couldnt eat... and she had a whole meal made. I didnt eat anything else but I had what amounted to about a 1/4 of cup of ham. Not only guilt this time, but I feel sick. I haven't had anything of substance in so long I feel ill. I feel bloated. Me <--- is not a machine My dad let me know today that he will be happy for me when I lose the weight, but he feels that the surgery is completely unecessary. He said that if I had the will power I could do the same thing without it. If I could lose 16 lbs on the liquids, then I could lose the rest on my own. So, they still feel like I am taking the easy way out... and they will always think that every time they look at me. frustrating sometimes I wonder why I even bother... Good luck tomorrow girls... you will all be fine :-) we are all here waiting for you to get back. Get some sleep. luv you all!

You know I HATE two weeks of no food(Stupid liquid Diet), but damn you have to like the results. If I ever get stalled losing weight down the line. I would do it again. I've lost over 16 lbs so far... I've still got till friday. I hope I can keep it up. Now I will confess... The other day I had low sodium tuna with FF Miracle Whip (didnt even eat it all becuase I was wracked with guilt and only did it once) -- damn it it was creamy and I chewed the hell out of it... and then yesterday I stole one 1/4 inch (square) piece of beef ( was a bandster bite if i ever saw one) and two carots from some Beef Stew my mother was cooking for dinner. BUT it didnt seem to hurt the weightloss any. I sure hope it didnt hurt my liver. I'm so glad everyone is feeling better, and good luck to all of you on the 18th! Don't worry about crying all the time.... if that was a problem, I would have one already! :-) I'm emotional by nature. I'm sure it is completely normal. Your body has been threw a huge shock.

dawne, from what ive read on here... just make sure you are taking "very small" bites... people suggest using baby utensils to eat for awhile... So, "small" is REALLY small... sounds like you doing really well :-) Nat!! You are gonne feel crappy for a few days baby girl :phanvan Hopefully (again) only from all the people Ive talked ot here... this type of surgery allows you to start feeling alot better alot faster than any other type. I hope in a couple of days you are feelin' better . Kay -- make sure you get some sleep this weekend. I know, if I were you, I'd be bouncing off the walls. Only a couple more days :-) and you will be starting new.

Mystique and Nat!! We love ya girls. We will be here ready for you when you get back. I will be thinking about you. Nat -- hehe, she's "cracked out":Banane20: WOW :grouphug: sonoslim -- I'm glad your doing ok, and sure hope you get back to feeling band "normal" :-) real soon. mcwms -- You're back!! You were a tough one to track down girl. Like Steph said it is worth spending the money now. This going to insure that you are around and healthy enough to enjoy that retirement of yours. Keep us updated! Steph -- girl, it didn't feel like will power! I felt about as weak as a baby. I seriously dont remeber what we watched on TV becuase I could hear those ghostly chicken Fingers singing a Siren's Song from the refrigerator the whole time I was there. (chicken fingers singing) "Brandi..... eat us.... all of us. Boy won't we taste good? Brandi..... eat us.... all of us. You can dip us in ranch. (and so on) Those damn things are like little minature, breaded hypnotists... EVIL I tell you! Evil!

Sorry O-Rock! It was GigglesTX... boy did THAT get confusing. I sure hope she is doing ok. ------------------ Nat!! luv ya girl, we will be here on Friday when you get home :-) Transformer!! You're back! yeah... the search party is working! 8 days for me. I had a "chick finger" challenge tonight. I went to see my family... I went at 7:00pm believing they would be done with dinner, and I wouldnt have to face the temptation. I got there and they had these wonderful looking chicken Fingers and were all eating away.... uuugghhhh I almost... i mean ALMOST gave in... I was really trying to determine, "would it be THAT bad to give in just ONCE?" I knew though that giving in once would lead to giving in twice... and here I go again. So, after they were done eating and the leftover were in the refrigerator... I walked past and opened the door 10 times. Convinced myself to walk away... then I went to the scale in the bathroom and decided to check things out I'd lost 2 more pounds! Thank goodness... That was what I needed to see to snap me out of it. I didn't eat the Evil Chicken, and I came home to have a Protein shake. The score as it stands now: Brandi 1.... Chicken Fingers 0 I hate fighting Chickens! hehehe....:fencing:

Oh my goodness girl!! You were pushing it a little hard. Get your banded butt in bed and rest. Thats the problem... I have a good Protein shake that I would LOVE to be drinking right now. It is low calorie, low carb, low fat... with extra goodies my body needs. (Oh yeah, watch Carnation (CIB) it has ALOT of sugar from what I've read on this site)... I'd love to drink the Matrix shake, BUT I am not supposed to be having anything but the Medifast... I know of 20 other things with the same nutrional content, but I am scared that this Medicrap stuff is some kind of "magic food" and if I dont eat it... Then my liver will grow to the size of a small child... haha yeah, yeah... i know... it won't. BUT i just want something that tastes good. and I think I am extra whiney today... :cry
