Was anyone banded in December of '06?
beversman replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well thanks jaqui for the encouragement. The exercise is something that I have been trying to keep up with everyday. I have been doing well this past month. I kind of post it on LBT to keep myself going. It helps me to have to "report" in -- I feel like I HAVE to get the exercise in each day. I took measurements last night i haven't lost anything significant from most parts of my body... BUT I have lost 2 inches on my BUST line. My chest measurement is the same. But around where my breasts are -- there are 2" missing! NOT where I wanted to lose inches BUT i am hoping is was the nasty arm-pit fat and NOT my boobs!! haha... I know my "girls" are getting smaller though. I don't really mind... BUT I wish this gut of mine would lose something. I do TONS of crunches everyday and I haven't lost any inches from my middle. I just keep hoping that as I gain the muscle that my scale will somehow start moving again. I am glad to see I am NOT the only one stuck at this stage in the game. We all seem to have lost about that same amount the mid 80's Wish someone had a way to help us get things jump started again! I am FRUSTRATED! -
hehe... i just realized something. This is the first time my driver license has EVER said I weigh MORE than what I really do! haha. Even when I got it I said 190 and it was really 200. It has always said 190 ever since. Even when I was MUCH heavier. Talk about denial! I just thought it was funny. I will have to have them change it next time around! ha! Steph -- girl, I would say you are too tight too. I know the crap goes down easy. OH HOW I KNOW! Get it out of your house. I know you have the family around, but if you can toss the crap. Get it our of sight/out of mind!! ASAP. When i go to my parents I find myself wanting to eat chips/chocolate/cake/doughnuts -- WHY!?!? becuase it is right there and it still tastes much better than my turkey burger. I keep my home snack free. That way if i get the munchies... i still have to eat something healthy. It is the only way ive been able to do this! so I agree with booboo -- you may want to opt for a slight UNfill. and get back to where you arent afraid to eat chicken/turkey good filling lean protein. and ONLY keep those types of things handy... that way when you get the urge to eat you will HAVE to eat the healthy stuff. So happy you had a good vacation!

Was anyone banded in December of '06?
beversman replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, all -- there are PLENTY of december '06 bandsters here on LBT -- many of us are on the Steady Loser thread in the "lounge" area... Ive lost 85lbs since Decemeber 21, 2006. Ive been stuck for a couple of months. Working my ass off the last month, but still stuck :-) so, i am at a frustrated point. just wanted to hello DECEMBER bands! -
AMEN Manatee!! I'm not a man, but I was irritated when I heard her say THAT. I have a little brother with the same weight problems that I have and YES it affect him just as much. I wanted to wring her skinny little neck when she say there all smug and said THAT. She is clueless. Skinny B*%ch! SHE is part of the problem in this world. I loved everyone else on the show. That chick has got to go.

Vaband -- I will gas up the car and be on my way!! haha... stupid men. they are all a bunch of selfish/oblivious fools.... at least all the ones I meet. OMG congrats on the 18's girlie girl!!! doesnt it feel awesome??? I'm so proud of you! Go strut your sexy stuff and try not to think about the man troubles. I know that is probably not going ot happen :-) but it sucks how much we worry about them when they are just not worth it half the time! Booboo - girl, be HAPPY that scale is moving. mine has been stuck for 2 months, i'd give anything for it to drop somewhere. At this point the only place my scale is going to be dropping is OUT OF MY WINDOW! I'm gonna drop kick that bitch. I hate scales!

NAT - Now, acutally I HAVENT check the tape measure yet. I will take a look tonight when I get home from work! GOOD CALL NAT! ---------------------- I wanted to share this... i got it in an email from the Susan Maria website (i am on their mailing list). It has some GOOD, NEW ideas for jump starting metabolism! Susan Maria's 'Good Morning' Metabolic Makeover Eat a 200-300 calorie breakfast In the a.m., your energy stores are depleted by as much as 80% from the night before. Without food, your body shifts into starvation mode, which means it begins to conserve energy and burn fewer calories. In other words: your metabolic rate takes a nosedive! That may be why, in one study breakfast skippers were 4 1/2 times more likely to be obese than breakfast eaters. For more long lasting energy, include protein, dairy products, and whole grain complex carbohydrates like oatmeal. Throw in half a cup of strawberries Research suggests that getting enough vitamin C - 75 mg a day - may be essential for optimal fat burning. The fresh berries provide 45 mg. Get a dose of sunlight, take a morning walk! Exposure to bright light decreases melatonin and increases serotonin, shifting your body from sleep to awake mode and in turn, revving your metabolic furnace. Take your multivitamin Antioxidant nutrients help protect mitochondria, tiny structures found in every cell, from damage: they're the microscopic fat-burning furnaces that convert food into fuel. Move at the office Moving throughout the day - even if it's just walking to a co-workers office rather than sending an email - keeps your metabolism higher than remaining sedentary. Have a midmorning protein boost Good choices: a reduced fat mozzarella stick, a protein drink, or a half cup of Splenda-sweetened yogurt. Every time you eat, your body burns additional calories to digest the food. Take advantage of this automatic increase in energy by eating a small protein meal as a supplement every 3 to 4 hours and do not skip meals.

Nat - way to go on the guy!! you hot mamma you! I am so glad you had a good bday and are losing the pounds! bkwalling - hey girl! congrats on the new pet and the elliptical! let us know now you like it! Vaband - i know what you mean about men messing with your head. I am just NOT messing with them for now. I will keep talking to the nice guy (from a distance) but it is certainly nothing serious. more like a new friend. I want nothing to do with a relationship right now. (hugs) Want me to kick his butt?!?! Booboo - girl I WISH I had that problem!! Ive lost weight like that before though. and it was usually water. I tend to drop in chunks though or 3 or 4 lbs... WHEN I drop wieght that is. You all know what??? ALL of this exercise... and guess what?? That scale hasnt moved a single pound. NOT ONE!! No cake... NO bad stuff of anykind ALL weekend... exercised my BUTT off. and the scale didnt move.

OMG.... cant breath!! BUT feels soooooo good. I just went out on my bike. 13.2 miles in 1.1 hours!! That was awesome!! Totally doable. It is about 90 degree out. HIGH humidity. And we are having winds of 10-15 miles per hour... so half the time I was riding, I was fighting the wind resistance. NOT perfect conditions by any means... and I still had no trouble pumpin out over 13 miles!!! I dont think 13 mph is too shabby... not a scenic tour!! I was moving pretty fast for me! Especially to keep it up for 60mintues!! Im PROUD of myself! :cheer2: BUT excuse me why I go die!!! hahahahaha Actually, I feel freakin great!!
-
Brandy, you look so amazing!! :-) I am so proud of what you've accomplished girl. And I know what you mean about having those bad days... where you feel like your going no where :-) It does help to look back and see how incredibly far we've come! and YOU my darlin'... YOU have come a LONG way. You look gorgeous! Just keep remembering to be proud of yourself... and i know with your drive and dedication that you are just at one more step on the ladder. You are going to keep on moving until you reach that goal!! I just know it :-) I love the way you did your pictures!

Ok, why does mother nature want to MESS with me?? I got up today ready to ride. Looked out the door... POURING DOWN RAIN! It hasnt rained all week and I get up early to go riding and there is water everywhere! UGH! So, I couldnt ride this morning or ride to work. gggrrrr -- otherwise, I'd have looked like a drenched rat. VAband - hey honey! I cant wait to see how far I go tomorrow either! I am even going to bed early tonight to sleep up for it! The men situation -- well, I am still talking to the "promising" guy from Indianapolis, but we are so far away from each other. He did ask me if i would like to stay at his place the night we go to the concert. BUT he made sure to clarify that he was NOT trying to ask in an inappropriate/assuming/booty call kind of way. He said he would have the couch fix up for me, but he thought after all the loud music all day that it would be nice to come back and just be able to sit and talk and hang out... something we've never got to do much of... I feel he is mature enough than I belive him about 80% of the way on THAT. ha. He certainly didnt ask in a sleazy way, and I've got news for him. I am not a "part time" piece of ass. Soooo, I hope he hasn't been "acting interested" all of this time just for the chance to sleep with me. Seems like alot of trouble to go through... just for a booty call. BUT he is man. and they do that kind of crap. So, I will let you guys know after August 6 and 7th! I hope he is a good guy. BUT experience has taught me NOT to hold my breath on THAT one. Claud -- oh my goodness! girl are you ok (the wreck)!!?!? I am so sorry to hear about the bad luck! THAT is all you needed. I would have been worried about my band too. Your bro sounds awesome! (or at least sounds like he is on my same wave length) I was a Miami Ink junkie myself. I absolutely love tatoos. I dont haev any yet, but only because I think they mean so much that I haven't found the right tatoo just yet. I think I will be getting one once I lose all of this weight. I think it would be appriprate to have succeeded and THEN to mark the occassion that I start a NEW LIFE. That stinks that you werent able to help him tell his story. It would have been nice to have the family talking about how much this means to him! Definitely let us know when it is set to air! I would love to see it! NAT - Happy Birthday to you... here is me doing the birthday dance HAHAHA! Dont stress the food girl!! Enjoy your Birthday! We only get one per year. Next year you are gonna be one skinny Bday girl!! They are gonna be trying to force feed you MORE cake!! haha! LOVE YA
-
Well, I just got off work at 1:00pm so I went and rode 4 miles on my bike on the way home! :-) Then came home did a few sets of crunches and push ups. I think If I just break it up during the day... i could easily get 12-15 miles a day! I brought my bike up to the town I live in... (ive been riding at my parents in the country) WOW BIG difference that a semi-flat road makes!! I could have done 10 miles easy! I am now curious to how far I could really go... I will have to test this out this weekend!!
-
So, got up and rode my bike to work this morning! :-) that was fun! I didnt get to ride last night as i was dealing with family issues. So, I think I am going to start off every morning with a LONG ride... a shower and then a short ride to work! I was too tired to get my butt up for a longer ride this morning BUT i am totally going to do it tomorrow. I think I am going to attempt a 10 mile ride this weekend. I think I can do it no problem. I will just keep adding miles every couple of weeks. I dont know about 27!! haha BUT 15 sounds doable... so does 20 for that matter (heck, what is 7 more miles after you just did 20??) might as well, give your butt a reason to hurt! I just wish we didnt have so many blasted hills... nothing is flat here, even the flat spots are sloped up and down -- natural resistance I suppose! :-) VaBand -- (hugs) so glad your scale is moving... maybe you should come have a talk with mine. It doesn't seem to get it. I know what you mean about having a long way to go. I have at least 46 more pounds here and yeah... THAT is pretty much 50. which is a long way :-( congrats on the new car!! that is awesome BooBOO- hey honey! I tell you what if I dont see results soon it is NOT from a lack of trying. I hope once I build whatever muscle it is that I need to build THEN weight will start dropping. amen on the amusement park rides. i still have that fear of "not fitting" -- i haven't been to one in so long. the last time I went, I fit but i remember having to really push to get some of those seats to lock and I felt soo embarassed. I can't wait to go ride some roller coasters again! What an NSV for you!! and a FUN/scary one at that!

I was in the hospital for only a total of 5 hours!! In and completely out!! surgery only took about 25 minutes... i was awake before i got to recovery and up and moving within an hour. drank my Water... peed and was on my way home! I dont think my results are typical, but I didnt even have any pain medicine. My doctor was wonderful!! My surgery was simple as pie! Of course, if I needed to stay... that first night was offered to me. just didnt need to stay!

Maurdan -- happy that you have finally got your next fill! You will be much happier once you're nice and snug. (not too tight, but snug). I am so close myself. I had another small fill... just .2 CC and it is soooo close, but not tight enough. I still feel the food slippling down after a few mintues instead of staying put. So, I will be going back again next thursday! :-) maybe sooner if I can get in. I am going to call and see the end of this week. ------------------------------- I rode my bike again last night. I averaged 13.7 mph but I am still not going too far at one time. only about 5 miles/day. I am going to try to add a mile or two over the next few days. Everything here is up hill!! I have a few straight stretches the rest of the time I am doing some serious climbing on that bike. Nothing is flat here! I got up this morning and did crunches before I came to work. I think i am going to start trying to get some exercise in BEFORE I head out each day. I need to get myself up and moving FIRST. I am such a night person. It stinks. So, ive been sooo tired lately. I do have more energy, but when morning rolls around I feel exhausted. I think it is my restricted calories and carbs. BUT per my scale i gained the past two days... frustrating. So, i am not going to eat anymore calories; i HATE being stuck. How can I still be stuck!?!? I am not giving up though. I HAVE to lose eventually! The period is gone. I thought that would help. Seems to have hurt. My body makes no sense these days. ok, back to work.... --Brandi

Public Service Announcement : Weight Loss & Alli (A pharmacists take on things)
beversman posted a topic in The Lounge
My sister will be graduating from Pharmacy school in a few months. She knows her stuff. Here was her recent take on the new "wonder" weight loss drug Alli. This made me crack up!!! And kind of disgusted me all at the same time! --------------------------------------------------------- Public Service Announcement : Weight Loss & Alli Warning: This is graphic but someone has to tell it like it is. The news companies and pharmacies are too afraid. After hearing some non-pharmacist friends talking recently, I decided to write this blog to help everyone out. Alli is a great new diet pill that is proven to work and is available over the counter. You can lose up to 50% more weight using Alli than just by diet and exercise alone. Great, huh? No. Alli makes you poop your pants. Alli's marketers hide this by using the term "fecal urgency." You will have "oily discharge" throughout the day. When you fart, you will shoot out oil. When you start taking Alli, you have to bring an extra change of clothes. When you take Alli, according to the patient information brochure, you may recognize what's in your poop as the oil that is often on the top of your pizza. This statement disturbs me. First it implies that you look at your poop in the toilet and say, "Hey! I recognize that from somewhere!" Second, it implies that all fat people eat pizza and not just pizza, but the greasy, nasty kind. Third, why use the pizza analogy?? A simple "it looks like fat or oil" would have sufficed. Personally, I think Alli's marketing writers should be fired. And this still happens when you are following the "rules" and only eating the recommended 15 grams of fat per meal. If you eat more than that, may God be with you. Here is a scenario of what will happen: You eat: A turkey sandwich You: Poop your pants You eat: Low fat chips and salsa You: Poop your pants You eat: A salad You: Poop your pants You eat: A salad with ranch You: Poop your pants all day and will probably have to sleep on the toilet You eat: Taco Bell You: Poop you pants for days, and probably will get fired because you skipped work. You'll have to quit if you did go because everyone saw you poop your pants. You will also need to buy a new collection of work pants and maybe a new office chair. So instead of buying Alli, maybe you should buy stock in Depends or the Tide To Go Pen stain remover. Just a tip from your neighborhood pharmacist. -
27 miles!?!? That is incredible!

Hey, Indiana-ians! I had my surgery back in December! With Dr. Trace Curry -- otherwise known on LBT as Dr. C Incredible, if not the best doctor I could possibly have imagined! I've been doing this a few months now... so I thought I would let you all know if you want to PM me with questions. Go right ahead. I dont get on this board much. So, i thought I'd let you know that I am out and about in LBT land. I am from SE Indiana by the way. Dearborn County. Good luck to all!

until last weekend, I literally had about 15 articles of clothing left in my closet!! It was to a ridiculous level... BUT like you've all said. It is so expensive to start from scratch with the wardrobe! UGH! I finally went and got about 8-10 blouses for work and two new pairs of work pants. I tried to stick to the clearance and sales racks... but it was still about $200 in shopping... WHICH considering the amount of clothing i bought was great, BUT still $200 GONE! I kept one pair of pants and one shirt that I used to wear. Just for comparison. From now on, it is pretty much all new!

Got a ton of crunches in... and another 35min on the elliptical!! Made a super good for me vegetable soup with TONS of veggies... very similar to the cabbage soup diet. BUT is super healthy, NO fat... all good carbs... lots of fiber and nutrients/vitamins... drank a ton of water today... Cant wait till my "monthly demon" is gone and I can see if anymore weight goes away with it. THAT would be awesome. I've been an exercising psycho lately. In fact, I think I might just go lift some weights. I've been watching Extreme Makeover... and this TLC program about Berkhaven a clinic for the extremely obese... I just watch the people and remind myself WHY I am doing this and how important it is for me to keep going and NOT feel sorry for myself. (I think I am addicted to these programs.... but I relate to these people so much). Night ladies!! Keep checking in!! I would love to hear some updates!!

Well, got back on the bike yesterday. Saturday was a mess. Apparently your body doesn't like you when you've "detox'ed" for 4 weeks then decided to fill it up with bad stuff like alcohol. I had the worse head ache, and my old body just ached. Not to mention I figured out another reason the weight wasnt moving. My monthly friend came to visit yesterday (gggrrr) :-( soooo Im sure THAT was been messing with my weight for the past week as well. I was crampy, bloated and grouchy all weekend. sooo much for fun. But I did get on my bike and pump out over 4 miles yesterday. Only about 20 minutes of riding, but I felt it was a good healthy "jolt" to my aching old body. Worked some of the bad out... Will be back on the elliptical tonight... need to get my crunches on too. I usually do a monthly pic at this time. I think I will wait till the end of the week -- hopefully, not so bloated and will have a few more days to tone some more things up before the dreaded PICTURES!! I feel tired.:faint: -- I do NOT want to be at work right now!!
-
ok, so i've behaved myself for a month now... did everything right. I wasn't losing... went out last night and drank for the first time in over a month.... and I was down to 185 today! WHAT THE HECK!?!? hahaha.... i know the loss is due to the work the last 4 weeks... BUT I find it really funny that it happened after I did something bad. STUPID weight loss!! oh well, that was my stumper for the day... lets hope things keep going down. I need to hop back on the elliptical tonight and work out all the bad stuff I put in my body last night!
-
Did my push ups, crunches... getting ready to hit the elliptical. My scale is still stuck :-( I am going to get another fill tomorrow. I have eaten no more than 800 calories a day and have been working out EVERYday... I'm so frustrated. ok, off to work out again. night ladies!! happy 4th!
-
Five more miles down on the bike... got a new seat... my butt says, "thank YOU" haha I may even jump on the elliptical later too! Happy 4th of July my ladies!! We've stuck together for 7+ months!! Love ya all!
-
It is 1:45... just got done with 35 minutes of elliptical and crunches and lifting weights with a few pushups thrown in. Tomorrow is my last day at work for the WHOLE WEEK!! I get a vacation. To bad I am all alone and have no one to go anywhere with me and NOTHING to do!! BUT I wont be at work. So, that is good. I am going to boat regatta on Saturday. Maybe that will be fun. I am lonely tonight too Nat :-( and hungry. I am calling tomorrow and getting another tweak on my fill.
-
