I've struggled with weight pretty much since high school. My father was also obese and passed away in 1995 from complications with sleep apnea causing a coronary heart attack.
In college I didn't gain the freshman 15, but the senior thirty.  Eating pizza, burgers, fries and beer didn't help.  Then I continued to live like a bachelor until I met my wife in 1998.  Our wedding was in 2001.  During that time, we both went to Weight Watchers to lose of weight to look good at our wedding.  While my wife didn't need to lose much, she went with me for moral support.  I lost about 50 pounds prior to our wedding and felt good.  Since then, I've gained it all back.  We went back to WW, but did not have the same success.  My doctor had also fried Fen Fen, Dietricians, YMCA, etc. Frustrated I went to Dr. Kelly's introductory meeting.  After talking to my wife, she was very supportive as was my primary doctor.  After going through all of the hoops to have the surgery, my initial meeting with Dr. Kelly, we discussed the options.  The band was most likely the best option for me since I have had successes in the past and wasn't at the point where a more extreme option was necessary.  My surgery was 4/28/10 and I was home 4/29/10.
