    Strange Odor

I chalked it up to the medicines used during anesthesia and the drugs I was given intravenously during my hospital stay. The weird scent did linger a while but now I do not notice it too often. Sometimes I smell it after I drink Milk of magnesia.

How Long Till The Weight Loss Kicks In?

The weight will come off. Please be sure to keep yourself hydrated and get in the protein. allow your body time to heal. I went into a 6 week weight loss stall. I was so discouraged. However, I knew this for sure that I had overcome the biggest challenge and that was getting the operation done. Try not to eat anything outside of what is approved by your physician. Stay away from any sugary or too salty items. The weight will come off, you have a tool to assist you with portion size. Now all you have to do is make healthier protein fortified food choices. Make sure you set up an account online to track your food intake when you start eating food. Get in lots of water and be encouraged the weight will come off. Also do not discount the inches loss. During my 6 week stall my pants became more and more baggy. You will succeed and stay connected with others who have been where you are and understand your struggles. This site is a God send. :)

    Lip Smacking?

I know you are being serious but this post along with your followup response made me chuckle. The sleeve takes some getting use to but after about 8 weeks we start adjusting to the fact our stomachs are small.

    Nectar Protein..

what does that phrase mean onderland
  7. The great thing about our new tool; for me is although I may feel hungry, I can only take three or four bites before I am totally stuffed. Sometimes it is a little frustrating but at the end of the day this is why I got sleeved because I did not know when to stop eating.

Blood Pressure - 3 Weeks Since Surgery

Please make sure you are consuming enough water and not too much sodium. After surgery it takes a while for things to normalize. I came out of the hospital on BP meds and was fine before I went in. I was scared also but after about 2 weeks I was off the BP again. I am 8 weeks out but still occassionally check my BP to make sure it is okay.
  11. Finally someone is telling us how to get out of this stall. My clothes are fitting looser but the scale is not moving. I notice since I've up'd the protein I do have lots more energy. Thanks for the advice.

    Ate Applesauce Help!

You'll most likely be good for the surgery just do not eat anything else. Let the staff know and besure to tell them the time.
  13. So how is your weight loss? Those numbers are inline with what I was instructed to do. How much fluid do you get in a day? I use my fitness pal and am eating anywhere from 600-830 a day with 40 or 50 oz of water and anywhere from 70-90 grams of protein. My weight loss is slow and steady (now).
  14. Do you know that God loves you? Do you know you have a purpose on this earth? Do you know that we all fall down at something? Your strength lies in your ability to get up. A 20lb weight gain is not enough for your friends to be ragging on you about. Maybe, you use the term friends to loosely. You've had your share of struggles. Exhale and love you. You deserve a good, healthy life and it is worth the sacrifices you've decided to make.

    6 Weeks

I was sleeved on 04/16 and the PA was also not positive about my weight loss. However, I am losing again now because I went to Sams and brought the Premier Shakes and protein bars. I got the generic Prilosec also. I get in at least 40 oz of fluids daily and try some type of exercise everyday. No one told me my body would go into shock and the scale would just stop moving. I am also tracking what I eat on my fitness pal to ensure I am not getting in more than 800 cals a day. The cals add up fast because the protein bar is 290 cals but it also provides 30 gms of protein. It is good when I get home and start to feel hungry. I decided to only use the bars on occassion since they have so many calories. The weight loss is slow but I am still losing and not gaining. At one point I was gaining according to the scale. I knew then I had to make some changes. So I increased my fluids and proteins. We made the decision to do this and we have to press past all the obstacles set in our way. Before surgery I would starve myself, I still not lose. Now I can track what I put in my mouth (which thanks to the sleeve is a small amount at a time) eating protein first and do not eat and drink at the same time. I mostly eat protein now. I try to stay away from the carbs. (But today I had homemade spaghetti, with ground meat and chicken sausage. I ate approx. a half cup. Now I will not eat that everyday). If we know we are following the rules, we have to believe that we will be successful. My clothes are getting looser.
