This is Hope and I am a 36 year old married white female. I became obese after the birth of my only son 18 years ago. I now weigh 281 lbs and heavier than I ever have before. My husband and I have been talking about the lap band procedure and trying to save for the procedure. Surprisingly we have discovered out insurance company considers potential candidates for the procedure. I was almost in tears, finally a break through, could this be the beginning of the rest of my life? Since my son has been born I've struggled with diets, exercise, depression, you name it to regain my healthy weight goal with no luck. Now, within the last five years my blood pressure has started to maintain too high, my blood sugar peeks through at high numbers, my ankle and feet swell, I get migraines (silent migraine syndrome) I have to take Verapamil,Folbic and aspirin everyday for the rest of my life. I have not been able to conceive a child since my first pregnancy, I've been diagnosed with poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, I have knee trouble, back trouble. I am not able to participate in certain activities that do not cater to my weight (roller coasters, sharing seats ect...) I get recently get passed up to join social activities and now do not leave my house unless I have too.My parents medical history increase my chanced of such deadly diseased that I am already starting to show..my mother who is obese 5'1 219 lbs has had 2 massive heart attacks, 1 open heart surgery and recently a mild heart attack that revealed 2 if the 6 stints to fail and 100% blockage in one of her main arteries, she has high cholesterol, carotid stenosis, breast cancer times 2 (lost one breast) (in remission since January2010) and the beginning stages of Parkinson's disease, my father who is obese as well has high blood pressure and high cholesterol I feel my life is slipping away! I feel like an outcast. I am an outcast. I will die young if I don't take control and do something now.I am just about done completing all my paperwork to plea my case to my insurance company who has graciously even considered me for this procedure.I will update and let you know the outcome. Wish me luck!!!Leslie Hope CobbCordele, Georgia
