I am with you - I had my 1st fill today, and got 4cc's in an 11cc band. My surgeon has me do two days of liquid, 2 days of mushies (which for me is another 2 days of liquid because I cannot "do" mushie texture), 2 days of soft food, then regular diet again. Everything else you said though was the same. The Frankenstein moment with the needle hanging out of my stomach while I drank was wierd at 1st, but ah - it's all part of it, right? I am excited to have made it to this part of the journey!

Great NSV's! My most recent was my husband telling me that it was time to get rid of my jeans because by A@# had disappeared in the ones I was wearing. LOL

Lap Band or Realize Band - Why did you choose yours?
AngelaL replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mountaingirl - what do you mean it isn't attached to anything? How does it stay in place? I am only asking becuase I don't understand - so pardon my ignorance I have the Realize band as well, but like most others here even though I checked out both, at the end of the day the surgeon that I I went with only used the Realize Band. So far no issues for me - I just had my first adjustment today (4cc's in) and I feel awesome. I have to say, I am kind of shocked about how many people on this thread are Realize banders! I was beginning to the think I was the maverick! (And no, not a McCain reference!) hahaha -

I was banded on 1/5 and to date I have lost about 28 lbs. I am waiting to update my ticker until after I get my 1st fill on 3/1. I do 33 minutes of cardio (its a WTLS program on my elliptical) every other day. The weight loss certainly seems to have slowed down for me, but I can really "see" the difference. I took my measurements the day after surgery and then again on 2/6 and had lost 27 inches total. Talk about motivation! For those of you that are working out and not seeing the results on the scale (for everyone really) I highly suggest you do this. It's not all about what the scale is telling you -

Reverie - I am amazed at your loss in less than a years time - that is so inspiring! I really hope that I have a success story like yours What did you do? Do you have any tips? I am curious about what your diet and exercise regimen have been. If you don't mind of course! -
Hi Everyone - I have been lurking around this board for quite sometime - my name is Angela and I started my process (seminar) in May of 2010 and was banded on 1/5/2011. So far I am down about 26 lbs, and feeling great. I am so glad that this board is here - I have been reading on a few different ones, but they are either boards that are for all WLS types where RNY seems to rule to board, or other boards that have so many negative posts from "outsiders" that is it is depressing. It's good to have a place where I can be a part of a community of people just like me I look forward to getting to know you all better - and hopefully providing support & encouragement as well. Angela

Annie & Celeste - Thank you both for your kind words. I am VERY excited about my band - and have been working very hard to make the most of it. I started doing cardio every other day two weeks ago and it seems to be helping a lot. I have not had my 1st fill yet so my weight loss is dwindling, but I am losing inches If there is anything that I can suggest to anyone as they start out it is to take your measurements! I took mine before surgery and then one month from that date and I had lost 27 inches - talk about a huge motivational boost! -
Hi - I had my surgery on January 5th, 2011, and have noticed that I am ridiculously tired in the evenings. Now I will admit that I have a 2 year old who gets up very early (usually before 6 am) - but that is nothing new for me since he has always been an early riser. I am getting a minimum of 60 gms of Protein a day (more like 70-80) and have been trying to keep my diet realtively low carb. I thought that maybe it was the low carb thing, but even if I eat more carbs I am still dozing off by 8pm! It's terrible! I should also note that I have been excersicing too - I am doing 33 minutes of cardio every other day. Any thoughts? I need more energy, STAT!!! Thanks in advance for your responses - Angela

So tired in the evenings!

Hmmm - I take 50,000 IU of Vitamin D once a week, so I don't think that is the case - guess I better call my NUT.... :/ -
Sounds delicious, but my NUT told me to limit fruit juice to 4-6 oz per day because of the sugar. I would think vegetable juices would be a different story though.

Hi - my band was placed on 1/5/2011, and today was the 1st day that I exercised since surgery. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical with a 5 minute cool down and felt totally fine. I Basically I was told that I should try to avoid doing anything that requires a lot of pushing or pulling, but that is all. I am glad I started now - I feel like I have more energy since this morning! Good luck!

Hi! So I was banded on 1/5 - I have the Realize band, but truthfully I think that they all work the same way, right? So anyway - let me just preface by apologizing in advance as some of this may be TMI, but here goes. I have been having a huge issue with constipation up until TH when it seemed that overnight my BM changed - they were much softer. On Friday (like 2am) it hit me like a ton of bricks. Everything seems to be going straight through me. Yesterday I was having trouble drinlking Water because everything just tasted off. I did managed to make two Protein shakes and consume those, but that is it. Today the runs continue - like water. I don't really feel "sick" today, but I am still having issues. I ate oatmeal with double protein milk this morning to get some substance and again - about 20 minutes later I was back in the bathroom. Has anyone esle experieinced anything like this? I just started soft foods on TH evening, but I was feeling like this (not to the full extent) TH morning. Any insight or tips are greatly appreciated! Angela
